To get an idea of the benefits of using this converter vs a cheaper generic one, I ran a test transferring the same 3.7GB file onto my Sony xperia X Compact.I used the a Anker microUSB cable paired with this Belkin adaptor and a generic adaptor that I got 4 for £3.99 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06ZXSM7CR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I also measured the same file transfer using a USB-USB C cable.Belkin transfer rate of 40.66MB/sGeneric transfer rate of 37.00MB/sUSB C transfer rate of 39.78MB/sThe maximum charge rate for both converters is 2.4A (though of course the USB C can go higher using quickcharge 3.0).So,by using the generic converter I lost about 4s per GB.Whether this is worth the premium is up to you - this review is simply to give you the facts to help you decide what is best for you.

This converter comes well packaged in a box with a perspex front The converter itself is tiny but well made with a gloss black finish. It has a male USB C and one end and a micro-USB input in the other and is ideal for carrying around allowing you to use micro-USB cables and connectors which are far more common than the USB C standard. This seems a little expensive at first but works so well I can see the value. I use it with my OnePlus 3 phone that uses the USB C standard although only at USB 2 speeds. I have used other converters and cables in the past that do not charge or are not recognised but this worked first time both charging and transferring data.Overall a handy device to carry around and makes sure you are not stuck without power or connectivity options.

Not much to say that hasn't been said here already. If like myself you are the owner of a phone (in my case LG G6), tablet, laptop or other which takes the much faster, newer tech, USB-C, then this is an invaluable addition to your cabling. Chances are you'll have 100's of the older USB-B cables lying around and this little beauty makes them no longer redundant. Really is as simple as that, you'll get the benefits & speed of USB-C from the older "B" class cables. My one gripe.......the price is extortionate (more than some USB-C to B actual cables), so let's hope that Belkin ditch the premium packaging and lower the price to a point that makes them a no-brainer addition for those of us whostill live with both B&C devices.

Got this to use to put on my son's USB-B braided charging cable so that he could use it with his new phone which uses USB-C. I preferred to do this rather than buy a new braided cable as that would mean yet another old cable lying around in a drawer and whilst his phone came with a cable, it was not braided and so I knew it would not last long. This slid onto the end of his cable and did not fall off. he was quite impressed with the transfer speeds as he moved photos and videos he took onto his PC. Yes, it's a bit pricey and it is tidgey, so once on the end of your cable, I recommend leaving it there. It is handy though and it means your old cable goes unwasted,a plus if you paid out to buy a high quality braided one.

This adaptor has enabled me to connect my normal phone charger to my USB-C tablet without the need for a separate USB-C lead. I just need to search around for a small adaptor! Charging performance seems to be the same as if I were using the USB-C charger that came with the tablet. It seems expensive though for what it is and I can’t imagine a scenario in which such an adaptor would be essential. It’s just a nice-to-have in case I don’t have the tablet charger to hand. It works, seems to be solidly constructed but is expensive. If considering one of these because of a lost lead/charger I would certainly look first at the cost of a replacement before buying an adaptor.

Despite USB-C being the standard on many new devices the availability of USB-C cables is still not that wide outside of specifically technical shops, so chances are you'll find you've got a load of redundant microUSB cables, but a dearth of USB-C cables. So, in the meantime, this handy adapter is a great way to allow charging and data transfer from old cables. The adapter is well constructed, as you'd expect from Belkin, the USB-C end being plastic reinforced and bevelled to provide smooth and sure insertion into the socket - not true of some cheaper version which can be a bit worryingly scratchy on insertion.A good quality, useful product; although a bit over-priced

I handy adapter which allowed me to reuse existing cables with my Samsung 8+. It fitted easily to the old microUSB cable and the phone charged as fast as usual (with the right ampage etc). The great thing about this being an adapter from Belkin, is you can depend on it. Cheap import options invariably fail quickly and/or fall apart. Belkin's high quality control has never failed me yet and is a brand I would recommend to anyone. It fitted on to the old cable effortlessly, no pressure required. The phone connects effortlessly too. Both signs of the workmanship. I really wouldn't want to damage such a sexy (and expensive) phone!

A lot of the newer equipment is now coming with C type plugs, similar to the older mimi USB but not the same, If you have a lot of the older cables and you don’t want to go and buy loads of new ones this may be good for you, it will convert the older mini USB to C type.Very well made, I guess that’s why its expensive, there are cheap China made ones but have found they tend to fall apart if being used and swapped regular, this I think will with stand it being abused a bit.Nice product, I don’t mind the price, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Finished in the now compulsory piano black, this small converter allows you to use existing micro-USB cables with devices equipped with a USB type C socket, for example to charge newer phones. The plug has a 2-year warranty. It's rated officially for 2.4A (12W) so it can be used to fast-charge devices: I've got nothing to test at this maximum, but I did get 1.6A going through it, and nothing got hot. It works fine, but I'm going to knock a star off because it does seem a bit pricey for a converter plug.

Jolly useful little converter/adapter. Much better than having a piece of cable between the input and the output. Its small size makes it convenient enough to keep in my mobile case. So now I can connect to laptops, tablets mains power, the lot with far less annoying cable to carry around and get into knots with. The adapter doesn't seem to slow down the rate of data transfer either, at least not to any degree that a mere mortal like myself can notice.

Avoid buying new cables for your USB-C device with this neat little adaptor to connect your old micro-USB plug into your shiny new USB-C socket - that's the new sort that goes either way up.It fast-charges my Samsung S8+ and stays completely cool. It's expensive for what it is and is ludicrously over-packaged but it comes with much certification and guarantees from a reliable brand.

This is a good and effective little adapter that allows existing Micro-USB cables to be salvaged and used on devices with USB C ports. The adapter is well made and neatly sized. The only issue I have with it is the price point - which seems on the high side and thus to somewhat undermine the value of buying an adapter versus replacing a cable.

14.6.2017

Something you'll need if you want to use a lot of your existing cables with devices with the new USB-C sockets, and it's absolutely fine apart from costing 3-4 times as much as it's competitor's versions, and arriving in a surreally large box which would, if my maths is correct, store about 150 of these.

Rated 4 stars but i cant test it as i miss read and thought it was micro usb male to usbc female and I have no way to use this but dont want to mark it down due to my error. I'm sure at some point i will have something to use it will and can then update this review.

It does the job it is designed for.12w. 2.4amp.The packaging is disgraceful, a total waste of cardboard. The unit is 2.2cm long. The box is 13.3 x 10 x 2.5cm. Obviously, it is so big to discourage shoplifters, so maybe a special online package could be designed?
