So here we have the impressive looking Akasa Vortexx Neo VGA Cooler,Akasa have a really great range of products especially in the cooling department and this looks top of the class, from start to finish this took only 10 minutes to fit and that includes the time to remove and old stock cooler. Brought this to replace an overheating stock cooler for the Nvidia 9600 GSO 768mb graphics card, the old cooler was hitting 80 - 90c so was getting very close to cutting out when playing games and that was in warm to hot conditions. As a computer tech i found the process very easy and the instructions for a novice are easy and clear to understand, just remove your old cooler, prepare this one but rememberingto clean and remove the old thermal paste, replace the paste with some that is in the package, just spread a nice thin layer and pop the cooler onto your graphics card,a firm push is all that's reqired, hand tighten first then use a screwdriver to finish off and reconnect the wiring and replace back into pci slot, you will lose one slot but it's worth it.So reboot and you will notice a good difference,it is whisper quiet even on 100% speed setting, now for the temperature tests, based on roughtly the same room temperature as before we notice a good reduction, from cold boot it is 43c which is lovely and cool, only hit's 67c at maximum and on the high or ultra setting on a quite hot day of 25c. The game's in question are Sanctum and Anomaly Warzone Earth,so i am very happy and the temperatures will be even lower in the coming cooler weeks ahead so leaves you with a good chance to overclock as well, great looking cooler, lovely blue when all lit up,so quiet, great price and very good performance,a 23c heat reduction on a hot day playing a modern game at high and ultra settings is very impressive indeed,i'd say it was a blistering,5 star all the way.

My 8800GT was idling at 90 (yes Ninety) degrees and would make a loud whining noise when running such graphically intensive games as Spider Solitaire and Mah Jongg Titans, Team Fortress 2 would cause the machine to expire horribly in a roar of boiling hot air. So, having looked at aftermarket cooling solutions and deciding that spending £70 on a waterblock for a £60 graphics card seemed a bit daft, I settled on the Akasa Vortexx Neo.As my attempts at DIY are more a case of Destroy It Yourself I left installation to the resident IT genius at my place of work, who described fitting it as a "piece of cake". On power up it was immediately evident that the noise level had gone from "Red Arrows Flypast" to a gentle hum.Furthermore, the GPU Meter widget on my Windows 7 dashboard reports that temperatures are getting no higher than 50 degrees, even when playing Battlefield & Team Fortress 2.In summation then, I am really happy with the purchase. It's affordable, apparently simple to fit, noticeably quieter than the stock cooler and has decreased my GPU temperature by 40 degrees (and the case temp by about 30).What more could you ask from an aftermarket cooler?Oh, you want it to glow in the dark? It does that too.Update-------After more than eighteen months of daily use my Neon Vortexx gave up the ghost - the fan just juddered around intermittently and the subsequent lack of cooling caused my graphics card to stop working. So I purchased another one.

I got this cooler not because my PC was unstable like an elephant on a tightrope, but because I was tired of the noisy stock cooler that came with my graphics card.I had no trouble fitting it to my card which is a 8800 GT from Club 3D - I just used a standard (flat head) screwdriver to remove the screws holding the stock cooler in place. You might like to use this opportunity to remove dust from the card using a disposable duster for instance (there was more of it than I could imagine...)After applying the heat pads to the card's ram modules and thermal paste (included) to the big chip (about a pea's worth, no more or you'll make a mess) I screwed the cooler in,and after turning on my PC I noticed that it glowed in the dark! In a lovely blue colour at that!Despite being much quieter than the stock cooler (the fan always runs at the same speed, so it's a "constant quietness") it did not improve my temperatures that much - maybe because my case was already well ventilated - the card idles at 59ºC when it used to idle at about 65ºC.In the end though, if your PC sounds like a jet engine then this cooler might just do the trick...

I bought this product to try and solve the problem of the 9800GTX+ fan, which often ran at far higher speeds than necessary, and as a result was very noisy. The new cooler fitted easily (though I have knowledge of PC hardware already, the instructions should allow anyone with a screwdriver to do it)I've now had it fitted for about a month, and it's really quiet. It never 'spins up' when gaming, as it has a set fanspeed. This means it's marginally noisier than the stock fan while idle, but far, far quieter when under load. Also, my stock fan never 'span down' after being under loads, so for me, it's quieter almost all the time. It also has a better 'hum' than the stock fan, more like a purr than the strained noise the stock fan gives off.As for cooling, it adds a little to the stock fans ability, which was a nice extra, knocking about 5-6° of idle temperature, and a bit more off the load temperature. If you have a supported graphics card, and want to reduce the fan noise considerably without buying a whole new card, this is an ideal solution.

This cooler arrived in a nice box, inside was paper as protective packaging [good size box]The cooler i got was for my 9800GT/8800GT, it was easy to install and much better than the standard cooler [similar performance to the Zalman fan GPU]The see-through cooler was a lovely touch and the fan was silent, however the blue LED's did not light up the whole cooler only 90% of it.Bad part is on the 9800GT/8800GT i had to bend a capacitor look-a-like component on my 9800GT [power-voltage component] it bent by 2mm for the cooler's heat-sink to fit in the screws, months later to my 9800GT and cooler have worked perfectly and slient fan at 100% too!Just be careful when fitting the cooler intoplace.Packaged nicelyEasy to installProvided thermal pasteHas blue LEDs fitted to the fanSilent fan even at 100%May not fit your GPU properly [9800GT/880GT]Blue LED does not illuminate the whole cooler

Fantastic Vga card cooler..........fitting to my Asus nvidia geforce 9600 Gt took an easy 20 mins, i had to remove the pci plate from the next slot down to facilitate the rear exhaust of the cooler which shifts a considerable amount of warm air out of the case. So,It has brought the Gpu temps down to a nice idle of 28 and a high of 42 (gaming). It has also brought the overall case temps down by 1-2 degrees due to the cooler design.Very easy to fit.And it also has a blue led fan that runs quietly emitting a nice glow of light. The only gripe i have is the path taken by the fan cable across the front of the cooler to the rear slots,i ended up re-routing this around the back out of sight.Overall i'm very impressed and would recommend as an alternative to a stock heatsink and fan.

I have an NVidia 9600 GT 512MB that was on an average of 57 degrees idle with the stock cooler. After replacing with Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound (I didn't use the supplied thermal compound), I got averages of around 36-42 idle and it doesn't go above 55 no matter what the load is (Depending on how warm my room is. It did go up to 57 once on a hot day). It isn't too loud, it's easy to install, and it glows blue! Does everything it promises to do, haven't had any problems at all, so I can't help but recommend it.

Does exactly as described. Bought this to replace the stock cooler on an Nvidia GeForce 8800GT. The stock cooler sounded like a 747 at take off and the GPU was beginning to cook itself. The Vortex is easy to fit (although spend a few quid on some decent thermal paste) and connected it to a 5v fan supply on the motherboard.Under load, with the stock cooler, my GPU temp was 80c+ (and my PC would often crash in-game), with the Vortex the GPU temp never gets above 50c and my PC is rock-solid.Outstanding.

This is a really good piece of kit.Very easy to fit and the instructions are clearly laid out. The hardest part is removing the old cooler.Once fitted it improves the fan noise to almost zero. Cooling temperatures have improved as well. When fitted this will fill up nearly 2 slots of space so make sure you have suffient space on your motherboard before fitting.Overall , a really good upgrade to the stock fan
