Looks well made, was a straight swap for the original, and bolted up tight with no issues. Has not been ridden hard yet but not expecting any problems and if so it is reasonably good value. It is worth noting the label on it that says 'Not for hard off-road or downhill racing use' although with the hinged riser adjustment I would have expected most people to realise that. It is in use on a winter road bike that the owner bought with correct frame size but wrong geometry, the top tube is too short according to her local bike shop who measured her up ! This compensates (125 mm one replaced original non-adjustable 85 mm one); and also allows the bars to be a bit higher than the fixed stem allowed.I agree however with a previous post-er who said that tipping the seat up a couple of degrees at the front shifts your centre of gravity behind the pedals slightly so less weight is on your arms.

It's quite hard to tighten the bolts tight enough on this stem, which can result in some creaking of the moveable joints when pulling on the bars during a climb. But once you get used to doing them very tight and occasionally re-tightening them, it's fine.Using an adjustable stem possibly isn't as smooth, stiff, or cool as using a fixed one. But it's a highly useful component if you find cycling uncomfortable or are searching for the right position on your new bike. One advantage is that you can choose different positions depending on the ride: high and close for a long day's riding, or very low and racy if you are taking part in a short time trial.Even though my road bike came with a better quality fixed stem,I'll never go back to it after the comfort provided by this adjustable one.

OK, so after a long ride my neck was hurting so I wanted to increase the handlebar height. My a-head was 110mm so went for a shorter a-head and adjustable angle. I could not believe how cheap it was, how do they make it so cheap? It is a straight forward, does what it says on the tin product. I was more than happy with the quality, there are better ones out there but for a tenner who cares? this will last a long time, is robust and works just fine! As for my bad neck, no more strain for me and that was with just a modest increase in angle plus the shorter reach due to a shorter a-head. So if you are struggling with handlebar height then this is ideal. If you are waaay too low on the handlebar though you might want to just buy a handlebar extender instead.

Didn't know what to expect with these they are at the cheap end of the market well I'm impressed. Good solid and work brilliantly the adjustment range is huge 0-60 degrees 0 degrees was a bit radical for me so opted for 20 degrees more than the original fixed Merida one so at 40 its more sit up and beg but very comfy and I can breath alot easier when giving it a peddle full. Cant comment on cross country ability of this as only ride black top and back road. but if you in the market for a adjustable stem look no further it cuts the proverbial mustard....

Arrived very promptly, and I was surprised how well the stem was finished, no rough edges or burrs.Fitted easily, although the clamp bolts don't feel the best quality in the world. Adjusted really easily, and a good range of movement. A few miles into the first ride it needed a little tightening, but has been fine since, with no obvious flex under load. It's a bit on the heavy side, but every adjustable stem I've ever seen is. It has made my race bike into a more usable distance machine, and at this price is a lot cheaper than a new bike!

Fitted this to bike quite easily, with the addition of a couple of spacers.Got it to lift the handlebars a bit and relax the riding position. Works fine, just as it should.Edited 12/5/13:Should have said, this was fitted to partner's bike. Now the weather has improved a bit she finally got out on the bike, and commented that her riding position is much better, and has eliminated the neck-ache from previously.Great product, at a decent price.Highly recommended.

Fitted to:Cube CLS LTD PROHybrid BikeCould only just feel the difference in weight with original part. Expected it to be loads heavier! Very light for what it is.Feels really well made. All parts working well.I can't complain, but the finish on the part is very metal. What do i mean by this, well, its been spray painted and finished off. On my cube, the finish on the metal looks as if it has been well coated and has a silk, smooth finish..

I bought htis for my partners bike to help her sit more upright and it done the job perfectly. It was nearly half the price of the one i bought for my own bikeAs the other review said the quality isn,t as good as a more expensive ones, but you need to be really close to see it.I wouldn't hesitate in recomending this and have given it 5* simply because i couldn't find a cheaper one anywhere

I got this to adapt the riding position on a 29 inch wheel mountain bike for my daughter to be less aggressive and more of a touring position. It did the job well and made the bike a lot more comfortable. Tightened it well and there is no movement. It is unlikely to be heavily stressed - so perfect for this job.

A bit stiff to adjust the angle. Be careful not to over tighten the screws which clamp the handle bar. The clamp is very light and does not feel strong. You get what you pay for. I cycle in town so it does the job. Not sure it would how it would handle if you cycle off road a lot.

some of the other reviews weren't especially complimentary, but i don't know why. this arrived on time, was fitted easily, and really seems to do the job (which was to raise my handlebars and to bring them closer to the saddle). it's good value and so i am satisfied.

I purchased this stem to replace a static one. The adjustable stem allowed me to raise the handlebars and also move them back. This resulted in a more comfortable ride. The stem is well made and does what it is intended to a very reasonable price.

I found this worked very well and was easy to fit. Its not the greatest looking piece of kit. I wish it was all black, and without the writing on it, but it works perfectly well and has allowed me to raise my handlebars by about an inch.

Easily adjustable and with the added bonus of 4 securing bolts to hold the handle bar in place. Not too heavy, but does not feel flimsy either.....same price as a lot of fixed stems. Excellent value.

This device gives a quick and easy way to adjust handlebar height and reach. I fitted it to my partner's bike (along with butterfly bars). She likes the more upright riding position that it permits.
