Sometimes you need a nice big blade. And sometimes you wish you could open it one-handed.Victorinox has made some changes to Wenger's mighty Ranger line. They've ditched the fugly tin-opener claw and replaced it with their own design, which adds a small screwdriver to the toolset. They've also ditched Wenger's rubbishy awl in favour of their own superior variant. And they've added toothpick and tweezers - which I think is a mistake, because those things only get lost.Victorinox has also reduced the width of the scales, making it slimmer overall - surely a good thing. But, on the down side, they did something to the unlocking button which means you have to press deeper, and harder, to disengage the blade.I suppose this makes it safer than before; but I never had a problem with Wenger Rangers unlocking inadvertently. All in all, the improvements outweigh the negatives. I love the big blade, I love the heavy-duty cap-lifter, and the corkscrew is more likely to see use than a Phillips screwdriver mounted on the back of this whopper. When you look at the quality and functionality, this is a great knife for not much money.Sadly you aren't allowed to walk around with one of these in Germany - you may have a locking blade OR a one-hand opening blade, but not both at the same time. A silly rule, but there's not much you can do about it. You can use it as often as you like, however, in the safety of your own kitchen or garden. You can get pretty much the same knife without the one-hand opening feature, meaning that's what you should get if you're out camping in public places - but I don't think it's available in this lovely shade of green.

Love the product, also got the Rangergrip 79 first but realized that it is a little to bulky for EDC in my uniform so I decided to get this one too, even if it's mostly for work. It fits great into my pocket, I upgraded it a little bit with the Victorinox belt clip at first then with some pocket clip I found on Amazon and it's so much easier to have it on me now... Opens perfectly with both hands (easier then the 79 because its a lot slimmer), a real fun and useful tool to have! I'm planning to give up on most of my fixed blades and keep a maximum of two for my bags and rely more and more on the Victorinox knives and the multitools from Leatherman since they are the best and most reliable product on the market,in my humble opinion.

I have one of these that I use daily on a building site or when out on my boat. It was bought as a gift from Switzerland a few years ago and the build quality and steel quality is superb. The blade gets very sharp and stays very sharp (I finish the sharpening on a piece of glass to get a razor sharp edge). This isn't some Made In China inferior steel. Top notch. I can't fault the build quality. It hasn't got a load of useless attachments that you will never use either. This is a serious bit of kit and worth every penny. Look after it and it will outlast you.

Outstanding quality penknife - use it for all kinds of things around the garden. The lock feature is great and the pouch is great quality too. Having tried other knives this beats them all, and I gave the other away. Definitely worth the money.
