When it comes to picking a Swiss Army Knife (SAK) opinions are like... (you know). So, do yourself a favor; take your time and make up your own mind. No matter what you decide, so long as it says "Victorinox" on the blade you won't be disappointed!Personally, I carry a SwissChamp most of the time. So, the size of the Deluxe Tinker does not bother me. If it is a concern of yours ask yourself this, how big is the cell phone you never thought twice about tucking into your pocket? Odds are bulkier than this tool and with the Deluxe Tinker weighing only 4.4 ounces probably heavier too. So, is it really too big to be comfortably carried daily?(Full dimensions of the Deluxe Tinker; Length: 3.6" x Width: 1" x Height: 0.8" & Weight: 4.4 oz.)For the life of me I can't understand why the Deluxe Tinker does not ship with a straight pin installed. If you look at some other SAK models (the Swiss Champ for example) you will see they have a straight pin tucked "under" the cork screw. The Deluxe Tinker has this hole; it's just missing the straight pin. Go down to the local craft store and pick up a box of "1 1/4 inch Size 20 Dressmaker's Pins" and put one in! (A box of 200+ will run you about $5.)I won't go into gory detail reviewing each tool on this knife. There is no shortage of such reviews if that's what you're looking for, and like I said everyone has their own opinion. I'll just make 3 points that lead me to carry this tool for years.First, this knife is really the perfect middle ground between the Tinker and SwissChamp models. I LOVE my SwissChamp, but if I were forced to pare it down to the tools I absolutely would not go without here they are (including the straight pin).Second, having a Phillips screwdriver in your pocket at all times is at least 1120% more useful than a corkscrew. When was the last time you needed to spontaneously open a wine bottle? I tend to be able to plan the opener at the same time I plan the bottle of wine. They don't tend to be casually tossed to me the way a beer bottle is. On the other hand, how many times have you come across a loose screw; in a chair, on a door, in your car, on one of your kids toys, etc. and been nowhere near your tool box?Third, obviously you're not going to change a tire with the pliers on this knife, but these pliers are worth their weight in gold! They are perfect for grabbing, holding, pulling and twisting all the annoying things you can't quite get a hold of thought the day. One great advantage to having 200+ straight pins is that at that point they become disposable. I have used these pliers many times to turn a straight pin into a makeshift safety pin for everything from making an "emergency" baby bib to protecting my wife's modesty, and I've felt just like MacGyver every single time ;-).I am an engineer and a serious Victorinox Swiss Army Knife junkie (no Wenger allowed), and I could not recommend this tool more! No matter what you choose, I'm sure you'll be happy!

My boyfriend absolutely loves this knife! It is a great set of tools that is just right for him - the knife is not too big and an not too heavy, but still feels chunky and sturdy piece. It is hard to explain, but it's an option that is in between the regular thin Swiss knife and a thick SwissChamp one. It's nifty for all little works around home, small appliances, toys, furniture etc. He loves having a comfort close and always at hand. Its is beautifully made, and I cannot say enough about the legacy of this company. Durability guaranteed.I believe, Victorinox is unique in the way that it lets the customer choose just the right product for everybody.Worth keeping an eye as these knives do comeup discounted frequently. The packaging was not good enough - the box for the knife itself was tiny and made of thin material, it looked cheap, however the product was original. The delivery and outer box was ok.Well worth the money.

I bought this because I felt like I was always needing this tool or that tool. I looked through all of the victorinox tools available and found this to have the more useful tools as a set. The knives were sharp. The unit was lubricated well. The scissors are small, but they do need to fit due to the size of the set itself. The phillips head screwdriver sticks out in the middle so that you can have a fairly good grip for turning. It isn't very handy in certain spaces though, but I really can't complain! Overall, the set fits in my pocket okay. It's slightly thicker due to the number of tools it has, but that's not a big deal since I wanted this set specifically.I carry it around everywhere I go and use it for small things here and there. I'd like to see how this holds out in the long run. I've had it for almost a year now and it still works like it did on day one. I would definitely recommend the Deluxe Tinker.

I’m a mom and a pet groomer. I love this tool so much and it’s proved to be so handy that it stays on my key chain next to my air pods and car keys. Tweezers and scissors have come in handy for all things kid related, nipping those little fly away strings on clothes and the tweezers really are good at getting splinters out. Flat and Phillips head screw drivers come in handy with quite a bit of frequently used grooming equipment. Knives come in handy for opening amazon boxes. Plyers have come in handy for odd things around the house. Most recently getting pins nail out of a wooden hanger. It’s nice not to have to go into my husbands tool chest to try and find tools for silly jobs like that.Just grab my keys and the tool is there. I can’t say enough good stuff about the tinker Swiss Army knife. I think I’ll be grabbing a couple for some other moms in my life.

I have had Swiss Army knives for as long as I have been old enough to have a knife. As I recall, my parents let me have a pocket knife when I was 10. That was 62 years ago. Ever since then, there has been a Swiss Army knife in my pocket. As far as I am concerned, there is no other kind. The only reason that I just bought another one is that I seem to have misplaced the one that I have had for about 30 years. Had I not lost it, I don't now when, or if I would have bought another one. But I took advantage of the loss and bought one with more tools than the one that I had. It seem almost a certainty that, if I don't lose this one, this will be the last time that I will buy one.

This is my favorite Swiss Army knife/multi-tool ever, and I think I've had one or another for about 40 years. The only thing I don't like is the hook tool. i'm not sure what use that is, perhaps it can be ground into something else. Swiss Army knife blades used to be mediocre in holding an edge, but this one still seems razor-sharp. Improved steel? Heat-treatment? My imagination? The spring action on the tools is crisp and clean, perhaps a little too much so if you aren't careful. It's great to be able to give a product 5 stars once in a while. Mostly everything I buy has some kind of problem (I am picky and most products are junk) but not this knife.

Fantastic knife. Tyoical victorinox quality. I originally went for this knife due to it having the phillips screwdriver instead of a corkscrew which I would have had no use for. I particularly like the pliers. They are small but extremely handy for intricate tasks, I use them when changing my guitar strings. They also have a built in wire cutter which is ideal for cutting guitar strings. Scissors are also fantastically designed and in emergencies even make for decent nail clippers. The only tool I dont really use is the reamer, parcel hook and the tin opener but im sure I will end up using them at some point. Great knife, highly recommended.

Love it. My mom bought one of those cheap bootleg swiss army knifes a few years ago and I thought it was real because I was young. I then realized that the knifes and tools were very dull so I wanted the real deal.I bought this one and compared the two and there is no comparison. This one wins by far. Every tool is well made. I love the pliers. The only thing is that it's a little bulkier than expected, but it's not a big deal. Also I live in nyc so I don't know if the law permits you to carry it on your person so am afraid to carry it in my pocket. I do have the keychain one, but it would be nice to carry this one too.

Love the tool complement, but there was something not quite right with the movement of the cap lifter/flathead. I have many SAKs and know exactly how they “should” be. The cap lifter did not “snick” shut when closing that tool. It just sorta slowly creeped closed. It was odd. All the other tools worked great, but I returned this one because of the cap lifter issue.*Update*Ordered another one and it was perfect this time. The Deluxe Tinker has been my light-duty multitool EDC for a few months now, and it has totally replaced my Leatherman Juice S2 for that purpose. Great tool complement, great quality, compact size.

Bought as a tool for daily use at work and as a small pocket knife for use on camp. It does all I want it to - take your time thinking about the combination of features you'll really use and how you'll carry it. I'm really pleased with my choice - e.g. the Phillips screwdriver and pliers get much more use than a corkscrew would. Well worth the money - not a small knife but not overly heavy - you can feel it in your pocket. Considering the use its already had, I think buying the original Victorinox instead of a cheap knock-off is worth it - hopefully it will last me many more years.

I own six Victorinox Swiss Army knives; this one is the one I carry. It has the two knives, the pliers, and the scissors - without the corkscrew. The blades, of course, are extremely sharp (I have used the scissors for the past four days to cut a 10 mg pill into two pieces: try that with almost any other blade and you will get multiple tiny chunks and powder).I have not ever used the hook, and the the Phillips screwdriver is less useful than it could be because of its position in the knife body when opened, but overall this knife provides the tools I want and none I don't want.

What can I really add to the discussion on this product? The Deluxe Tinker has a nearly perfect assortment of tools for my everyday needs. The only way I could see this being improved is perhaps replacing the small blade with the combo metal saw/file, but I also get a lot of use from that blade on my SAKs, so this is just nitpicking. The aforementioned selection of tools coupled with Victorinox's usual quality construction and attention to detail make it easy to give this knife a 5-star rating.

I have 8 diffent models of Victorinox pocket knives in my daily rotation. This particular knife model has proven itself time and again in form and function. While the pliers are small, they do work fairly well at grabbing onto small items such as watch dials, and are pretty durable for light prying. I've never had a problem with a Victorinox knife and they are worth every penny spent. They are a buy it for life item as they all have a no questions asked lifetime warranty.

We gave this to my Dad for Father's Day and he adores this knife, he shows it to everyone he meets! He thinks he "could build a house with it if he needed to". It is a little thicker and heavier than his one this was the replacement for, but it has a little more stuff on it. It doesn't have a cork screw on it, but since his meds don't let him have alcohol, he couldn't have used that anyway! That 80 year old is one happy camper with his new knife!

26.12.2014

Extremely well made. The knives are very sharp! Who would ever use all the tools and utensils? Well, I did. (I cannot tell a lie; perhaps justtwo of the tools I have not used yet.) If you think you would never use the scissors like i thought before I purchase my "Swiss", you arewrong. It is one of my most frequently used tools. I almost feel naked if I am not carrying my "Swiss Knife"--just like my car keys.
