Considering that this is a 91mm model (3.5 inches closed length), it is a fine minimalist (ha!) approach to the Swiss Army Knife concept. All of the tools on this model are ones that I have found to be useful. It did feel a bit strange at first to be without the normal screwdriver / bottle opener and separate can opener tools. But - the single tool replacing these works just fine. Even the nail file on the back of the hook is functional - and accessible without opening! This particular model may not be to everyone's taste. That is the beauty of offering so many different variations. Within their vast panoply, Victorinox cater for just about any preference. The quality as always is very good, the warranty is impeccable, and the cost / replaceability factor is negligible considering the usefulness offered. This would be a good choice to consider if you are planning a trip or hike where weight and size are a consideration. Just be sure it is in your suitcase if your travel plans include airports. Highly recommended. Excellent service from the seller, as well.

It took me a while to add this model to my collection and now it features heavily in my EDC rotation. On the surface it looks a little light on tools compared to the cost (shop around - for some reason this model is often at an inflated price compared to others in the range). Also the picture doesn't show all the tools (pen, mini screwdriver etc). In fact the Compact is a great minimalist design. The Compact includes a number of unique tools to save space that aren't found on other models; a combined cap lifter and can opener and a universal hook has a file on the back edge (wish Victorinox rolled this out to other models)The other big USP is the use of 'plus' scales as found on the Champ. This alternative scale design incorporates a straight pin and pen. In addition the corkscrew (I use mine for loosening stubborn knots) houses the mini screwdriver which is indispensable if you wear glasses (or will make you the office favourite for those that do!)In summary - more tools than meet the eye in a slim design - genius!

Roughly as thin as a non-Swiss-Army knife, but with the highly useful scissors, a bottle opener, a pen and tweezers. A nail file on the back of the hook is also a nice touch that's unique to the Compact.Completely un-intimidating, I feel fine using this in front of anyone, almost anywhere. Comes in handy most days.I lost my previous one and replaced it immediately. Once you're used to having it you won't want to be without it.I've put a Nite Ize Hip Clip on mine and I clip it inside the coin pocket of my jeans, but it's absolutely fine in a pocket without one.The only thing I'd change is the hook to an awl or screw driver, but all Victorinox scissors layers have a hook on the back so you can't really change that until they finally decide to get rid of the hook from all their models.I highly recommended this knife because it's better than just a plain knife, doesn't take up any more room, and it's not a big lump in your pocket like a larger Swiss Army Knife or multitool.

A lot in this smaller 2 layer tool - main blade, cap lifter, can opener, wire stripper, screwdriver, scissors, hook with nail file, ballpoint pen, corkscrew, glasses screwdriver, and pin - and a great price (these are £40 on the Victorinox website store, and around £35+ just about everywhere else. Just ordered another one for a spare in case I loose it - as I've lost 2 Saks in the past. It's practically 'buy one get one free' anyway compared to the official Victorinox website prices.Pain in the backside having to be at home to provide a photo ID. Not convinced that this type vetting will contribute to stopping idiots hurting others/committing crime with sharp things, because even if you ban knives altogether these same idiots will just use screwdrivers or similar tools.Enjoy your Swiss Army Knives while you still can!

great size with a great assortment of tools, very high quality. So much so that I bought a second after losing the first and using a screw from a door hinge and a pair of pliers to open a wine bottle. This does work but is not so convenient.I don't carry it in my pocket much (they are already full) but it is usually in my bag. I would have preferred an awl to the hook (I haven't found much use for it beyond the nail file on its back, they say it is useful for carrying shopping, I tried and it can fit the handles of one carrier bag and is not much more comfortable) but otherwise every tool has been very useful. I mainly bought it for the scissors but the pen has been more useful, shame it is blue not black but that's just me.

Every single Victorinox with scissors and plastic scales has this stupid hook on the back of the scissor layer, so I'm assuming it's somehow impossible for them to replace it with an awl or something else more useful. But at least on this knife they have added a file to the back of the hook which is great.Overall this is a great tool. It was my EDC of choice for something like 5 years and served me well. The only big missed opportunity is that it would have been just as easy for Victorinox to offer this knife with a Phillips screwdriver instead of the corkscrew. Due to having the combi tool instead of separate bottle openers and can opener, this tool lacks anything you can drive a Phillips screw with.

If you want scissors, this is the thinnest ‘full size’ model with plastic handles. It has ‘Plus’ scales so has a biro pen, small screwdriver and pin, in addition to the tweezers and the toothpick. It is a great size to carry around and has the minimum tools I regularly use (main blade and scissors ) - you can add more bu the thickness increases. If you want more, I’d look at the huntsman (probably the best all round SAK) and the Swiss Champ is a classic - but the Compact is a great minimal EDC choice. The seller is about half the official Victorinox price so highly recommended!

On a recent trip to Heathrow I forgot to remove my penknife and had to dispose of it at security. I was rather upset as it had become a really useful tool especially the cork and bottle opener which had rescued many a party. On return from my trip I immediately ordered a replacement and within 2 days I was restored to my ready-for-anything status. Heathrow security nil point. Swiss army knife douze points. Most useful items on the knife:bottle openercorkscrewpenLeast useful items:hooktoothpick

Well the product is amazing as with all swiss army knives. I am a true addict and have several but this one is to much of a minimalist tool for me, but i bought this purely so that I can swop its scales with my swiss army explorer which is my edc knife. This way i get "plus" scales with a pen for my explorer and a back up knife for less than the cost of importing just a set of "plus" scales. This is because its extremely difficult to get the explorer plus model here in the uk at a reasonable price.

This has to be the most usefully equipped SAK ever! It goes in my car glove compartment and then in my pocket. There has never been a situation where this knife has not been invaluable. You have a a knife (very sharp!), corkscrew, scissors, can opener, very small screwdriver (excessively useful!), pen (very handy!), tweezers and toothpick. There are a few more features that only go to make the Compact the most useful lightweight Swiss Army Knife. I would go nowhere without it!

The Victorinox compact is one of those great daily carry knives from this makerThe model has a blade , scissors, a combination tool this is where this model falls a bit as this is a jack of all trades as they say but it gives the user the can opener the bottle opener and a screwdriver, flat head just be mindful not to torque it to much as it's thinner than the regular onesThis is still a good model but for some crazy reason is always expensive not sure why ?

Perfect pocket knife for the office worker, not bulky in a trouser or jacket pocket. Just the right amount of tools for the urban environment, granted not many wine bottles to open at work, but the corkscrew holds the tiny flat blade screwdriver that's perfect for tightening the hinge screws on glasses, invaluable. The pen has been used more than I thought, and the scissors are very good. On the whole the Victorinox quality sines out, very happy owner.

I have had one of these pen-knifes for about 15 years. I am a heavy traveller and bought a second one to leave abroad at my work-place (due to restrictions in carrying these in hand baggage). A great addition to my wash bag for all those little jobs. The tweezers and scissors is invaluable and the small screwdriver is great for tightening loose screws on eye glasses.

Packaging was poor in my opinion, not so much the cardboard envelope, more so the box that the knife was in, inside the envelope, the knife box was crushed and the knife had go free from the box, more package thinking required I think. The knife itself was exactly what I expected, useful. For me it's an all round etc knife suiting my particular lifestyle.

This is simply the most carrieble and still quite functional Victorinox. It has all tools I need for my everyday and some more. It is unique in the sense that it is two layers only: one layer is shared by blade and cup lifter / screwdriver, the other one is scissors. This makes it as slim as Spartan, but, in my opinion, with a better choice of tools.
