I bought this Sram X3 rear deraillure because not knowing my Shimano was not compatible with my X3 and X4 speed shifters. The Shimano was not only not compatible it was worn out to make matters worse. After receiving the the X3 derailleur I noticed that the Shimano has a perminate mount for a rear hanger so I ordered a new mount for my store bought mountain bike. Well this bracket was going to take a month to arrive and it had me upset that I couldn't put the Sram rear derailleur on until it came so I went on a Bike shop adventure asking if anyone would have one laying around that I could buy and sure enough after visiting a local bike shop who didn't have it I was turned on to another shop

I ordered the X3 derailleur as a cheap stopgap while I waited for the US postal service to deliver an X7 derailleur that got lost in the mail. The X3 works fantastically. Yes it is plastic. Yes the pulleys are not replaceable. Yes it's only $20. But if shifts extremely smooth and precise. I've since received and installed the X7 derailleur I originally ordered and I can't hardly tell the difference. The X7 is all aluminum (except for the cable routing hook/loop) and the pulleys are replaceable. The X7 may be just a hair quicker, but the shift action on the X3 is actually lighter since the spring is not as strong.If you're looking for something that will work well with SRAM shifters and rival the performance of the costlier stuff,

Had several Shimano Altus rear derailleur's that kept getting pranged and twisted out of shape.Found the SRAM design to be sturdier.Only criticism i have is that i replaced a previous SRAM X3 because the jockey wheels where worn down and was not much greater cost to replace whole derailleur rather than just jockey wheels.Also this derailleur is cheaper than the Shimano Altus rear derailleur.I beleive from my experiences that Shimano are over rated.An excellent budget rear derailleur which works well and is well constructed.

I was changing from a shimano setup on my spare mtb. After putting this on with an X4 shifter and sram chain, it worked great and I saved quite a few grams. No, you cannot use this with a different brand shifter (and most likely chain). I was also able to keep cassette and chain rings. It is definitely an upgrade from shimano system. At this price point, you can't find anything much better.

Perfect fit, I was worried as my bike is a cheap unit, but after carefully reviewing the specs and matching to my bike, it works like a charm. Had a little difficulty getting it set up as I was stubbornly not reading the instructions. Once I read them and studied the derailleaur function, I had it adjusted and working fine. Great product for the price.

The X3 was for my wife’s MTB and we also changed from trigger to twist shift. What a great combination from SRAM...my wife who is a novice rider but with good skills - stated “this new SRAM setup is great, 1-1 smooth shifting and very quiet when riding.So for me, if my wife is happy then I’m happy...thanks SRAM

The derailleur on my son's Trek MT220 broke and this appears to be exactly the same thing as the SRAM 3.0 derailleur that was on it. The fit is perfect and the bike is back on the road now shifting better than ever. The bike is being handed down to my daughter and this will give it a few more years of life.

SRAM is what I had on the Sun Tadpole when I bought it. It was damaged in a roll-over. I replaced it with another identical SRAM. It has always worked well, at all temperatures from above 100 degrees to near zero. It is also east to adjust and rarely needs readjusting. A quality product.

The X3 shifts really nice. Much better than some of the low end shimano brands. Although it doesn't have the replaceable pulleys, the thing is such a great price that you could buy another one. However, this derailleur will last you a mighty long time.

Good for the price. My previous one broke (a plastic bit couldnt take the force) so replaced it. I suspect a more expensive model would not have broken in the first place, but this was cheap to replace. Works a treat with my 8 gears.

Replaced a 12 year old SRAM 3.0 derailleur with this and it works perfectly. The top pully on the old derailleur was getting stiff, though it worked fine. The new derailleur fitted easily and gear changes are quick and accurate.

Works fine. I bought this because I had bought a SRAM trigger shifter, but it would not work with my older (1988) Shimano derailuer. I wish it had removable pulley gears, but I can't complain considering the price.

Looks gray, works well, easy to set up, quality rear mechOnly concern was no adjustment for the cable on the mech (like most front mechs) but there's plenty at the matching shifter, so hasn't been an issue

Good replacement for the old one. Looks nice, good construction. Only con is that, not matter how I tried, it will not shift to the largest cog, so far it is OK since it is rarely/never used or needed.

this has worked good for me so far I had no trouble putting it on and adjusting it . have used it now for almost a year I ride at least 20 to 25 miles a week sometimes more great product for the price
