Like many, I found the OEM chain that came with the SRAM Force group to be lacking: it was noisy, didn't shift all that smoothly and wore out quickly. Acting on a tip, I swapped it out for a Dura Ace chain with good results. Then SRAM introduces their 1091R Hollow Pin chain saying it's the cat's meow. Okay, I needed a new chain (this last D/A chain wore out in record time - fifteen hundred miles - what's with that?). I think, "If I can get a decent deal...".Got a decent deal through one of Amazon's vendors. Recevied the chain quickly, put it on and, the next morning, went out to ride a hundred miles in the sort of heat the Midwest is known for. This chain is quiet and shifts smoothly and promptly. They say it's light. That's good, as long as it holds up. I would've given it five stars were it not for one thing I haven't figured out: I now frequently toss the chain off the high side when shifting from the small ring to the big ring. No deraileur adjustments were made going from one chain to the next. But now I have to be careful when upshifting. Will work on that. Other than that, it's all good.

Makes fitting and removing chains so much quicker and more simple. Cleaning a chain becomes much easier. You do ideally need a tool to assist though: I made one after much filing on the tips of some old crimp pliers.I remove and soak a chain in an old plastic bottle with some paraffin in it having given it a quick shake. After an hour or two of cycle maintenance I then remove it from the bottle (which will be good to use again in future so may as well put a lid on it and retain it) by hooking out with an old spoke, and then replace with a powerlink to fix it together. That way it's sparkling clean and won't rust. I'll then lube in place on the bike.Without a powerlink this would be a different proposition, with = easy thorough chain maintenance = less effort for the same return at the pedals!

I've always liked SRAM chains, both the mountain bike and road bike versions. I've had pretty good luck with the SRAM PC-1090 and PC-1090R. They seem to wear reasonably well and I've never had a PowerLock connector fail (unlike some of the competitor's master links). The only downside to SRAM's previous chains was that they were a bit noisy! I wasn't expecting the SRAM PC-1091R to be appreciably different from the previous incarnation, but I was pleasantly surprised: the new chain seems to generate quite a bit less noise than the previous generation! It won't make your SRAM drive-train Shimano-quiet, but it gets it in the ballpark.A nice upgrade over the previous model and well worth the price!

I went big and splurged on this chain rather than buying the cheaper more basic model. A chain is a chain right? Well, I can say that I've actually noticed this chain to be quieter than my last. I don't understand how or why but it just is.SRAM makes quality chains. The original chain I replaced was a sram, and it had a twisted link that I hadn't noticed. Thinking back, I guestimate that I put over 1,000 miles on that twisted chain and it held. It worked so well that I didn't even know it was twisted! So having experienced that, I put full faith in the quality of sram chains.

I ride about 3000 miles a year and I didn't realize how much stress goes in the chain.Until I finally switch to this new and improved chain. What a difference! The quietness is unbelievable! You benefit from every angle, the gearing runs smoother, you get more power in the drivetrain.Amazon pricing is unbeatable, I checked everywhere. Most others sites start at $80!!!Best quality/price ratio. I recommend highly.

I bought the 1091R chain to replace a NEW 1091chain Running on a SRAM Force 2.2 50/34 GXP Crankset. The shifting with the type R chain was infinitely better than the 1091 (Non R) chain. Both chains were brand-new and without any other changes or adjustments to the bike, the 1091R just shifted much much smoother. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this chain to anyone running SRAM cranks.

This replaced my aging stainless steel Wipperman chain. I like this chain a lot. It shifts great on my Ultegra triple setup and is very quiet. My only complaint is with the master link. Hard to get on and requires a tool to get off. Get a pack of 6 KMC master links when you buy this chain. They're cheap, they work great and they don't require bleeding and cussing to get them to work.

This chain is very easy to install. Just a couple simple steps and away you go. I have logged about 500 miles on this chain so far with no issues. It shifts and runs quietly and can take the torque of climbs and sprints with ease. So far I am pleased with my purchase and would have no problem replacing this chain with another one of the same when needed.

I just keep buying them. They are a consumable. I have 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 speed bikes that I regularly ride. I keep one of each size spare chain. MTB chains wear pretty quickly. Road chains, 2500 - 3000 miles. Check their wear regularly (Park chain wear checker) and if replaced soon enough, expensive chain rings and cassettes last pretty much forever.

This chain combined with the new SRAM road cassette is MUCH quieter than the old Red SRAM cassette/chain combination. It shifts flawlessly. It's expensive but my chains usually last two years and my cassettes 3-4 years so it's worth it. SRAM is a very innovation company-I have their full RED gruppo on my road bike-Excellent!

Sram is my go to chain, and has been for years, for everything from 7 to 11 speed. Much to my surprise, I got well over 3500 miles on this chain before hitting the first indicator on the chain wear tool (with mostly long rides, and cleaning and re-lubing about every 200K, or after each ride for longer ones.).

This is a top-tier chain. It's light and quiet and shifts smooth. I do a lot of climbing and regularly check the chain for stretch each week or so with a chain checker tool and it's holding up just fine. Installing the chain was a cinch with the Powerlock link. So far so good. A good investment for the bike.

SRAM SRAM SRAM. My old chain was worn so i bought this. Good price on amazon, installed like other sram chains, and its quiet. If youre looking at this than you probably already know its their top of the line 10 spd chain and it is definitley top tier.

Great, lightweight chain. As with other 11-speed chains, only good for about 3 - 4 thousand miles before replacement needed. I go through 2 or 3 a year riding 10,000 plus miles. At this price, can't go wrong. Good chain = long-lasting cogs.

works great with my 2012 SRAM Rival front derailleur and 2012 Red Black rear derailleur. also about half the price of buying it in the bike shop! left the factory lubricant on and chain still feels and sounds fine at around 500 miles.
