I have been playing golf for about 4 years, had 1 lesson a few years ago and have a lot of bad golfing habits. Most of my golfing games are spent trying different feet, ball, body and swing variations to compensate for my poor golf swing, struggling trying to get my driver and iron shots consistent.I saw a video demonstrating the SKLZ Gold Flex swing trainer on You Tube and was impressed with the simplicity of the design and could see the nicely controlled flowing golf swings on show and could see the potential benefits, so I decided to buy it on Amazon. The Gold Flex I purchased is 48 inches long which is longer than my normal clubs. At first I thought that it was too long,However when I transferred from the Gold Flex to my normal clubs it did not hinder the lining up with the golf ball. When I first used the Gold Flex it felt a little clumsy and heavy but after a few swings I started to slow the swings down and let the Gold Flex do the work. The weight on the end of the Gold Flex naturally brings your hands/arms into a nice position on the back swing then it flexes behind your head ready for the down swing. Because the swing is slowed down I waited until the Gold Flex had come back over my shoulder on the down swing and could feel the right time to start to power down on the down swing. Where previously I believe I was trying to power back down to high on the down swing,I now practise with 15 swings with the Gold Flex then 15 swings alternating between my normal golf clubs, because of the weight of the Golf Flex I found when I started to swing my normal clubs they felt a lot lighter and easier to swing and my golf swing started to mirror the Golf Flex swing. I can now feel various parts of the golf swing, the start of the back swing from the ground, the hands/arms pulling back, a slight pause at the top of the swing, the start of the down swing and finally feeling the right time to start powering down and through the golf ball.Because the Gold Flex is weighted at the end I have found that it helps me transfer my body weight from my right leg to my left leg (right handed) and my hips and shoulders are forced to turn and now when swinging my normal golf club I can feel the same transfer of weight and body movement. The Gold Flex also lets you feel when your making errors in a swing, for example, if I straighten my legs from a slightly bent position lifting my body up during the swing the Gold Flex starts to wobble and the swing does not feel so smooth. The idea is to try and get the Gold Flex swinging backwards and forwards as smoothly as possible. After 3 days of practising with the Gold Flex and a lot more turning of the hips and shoulders which generates more swing power I have found parts of my body and muscles aching that I obviously was not using before, for example, stomach muscles, general back muscles, back of upper arm muscles, forearms muscles, thigh muscles and hips all aching which shows I have not been using these muscles much in my golf game.On the golfing range today I concentrated on my driver and 2 hybrid/baffler off a tee and ground to see if after only a few practises over the last 3 days there was any difference. With my driver and hybrid I was gaining about 20 to 25 yards and most of the shots were reasonably straight. After the golf range I went out on the course and tried to concentrate on the new swing and slowing it down, I could still feel the different parts of the swing and had some good shots mixed in with a few duff shots as the new swing felt good but took a bit of getting used too, I could feel better weight transfer and the potential for more powerful shots. I had to focus on the new swing and try not to slip back into the old swing and back to bad golfing habitsI intend to practise with the Golf Flex for 30 minutes per day where possible transferring between the Gold Flex and my normal clubs. I can definitely feel improvements with my golf swing within 3 days and hopefully with a few more weeks practising and a few more games of golf it will pay off with a more consistent and powerful golf swing.I would recommend the Gold Flex to anyone who needs help with their golf swing, it is good for warming up before a game of golf and used regularly along with plenty of practise on the golf course hopefully improve your game.

Borrowed a mate's (Mid) Orange Whip after telling him i was struggling with my irons (have a tendency to come over the top with an out to in swing plane which produces my fair share of shanks / slices / powerless fades). One afternoon of swinging this periodically during a practice round of golf and i was honestly blown away by the results! Incredible how quickly i started to hit balls more cleanly, with a straighter trajectory. So much so that i rushed home to buy one (only to be shocked into submission by the price). Crushed and defeated, thinking of ways to borrow (read: steal) my mates swing aid, i noticed the SKLZ Gold Flex for half the price and bought it.Had it for 4 days - using it once at the range, and once during a practice round - and returned it for the more expensive Orange Whip.Reason: The Gold Flex is great as a warm up tool. It's lovely and weighty throughout the swing (your clubs feel absolutely feather-lite after use). It's pretty whippy (just like the Orange Whip), with one very key exception - and in my opinion the defining reason that makes the one product a more effective warm-up tool, and the other a better training aid.The Gold Flex shaft has the same soft flex throughout its length, with a heavy head, giving it a very loose, whippy action. The Orange Whip has a firmer (thick) top end with a more flexible (thin) bottom end and the same weighted head, giving a slightly firmer, whippy action, thus allowing the user to make a more controlled swing action with it.So to answer the first question, both do a great job as part of a pre-round warm up routine, loosening the muscles, and allowing you to groove a lovely smooth, complete swing action. But as a training aid? With the Orange Whip you get a much better sense of the swing plain and the lag generated by it's whippy action (i am not sure whippy is evena word, considering spell check keeps flagging it with 'what the hell are you trying to type'), but it gives you more precise feedback on how your right elbow is tucking in against your hip as you release the club head, flattening out your swing plane, and generating lag without any conscious effort on your part.Yes, you would argue the Golf Flex does the same. And i do agree! It does. What it doesn't allow is for you to feel that same level of control during the swing, so i wasn't able to reproduce the swing with my irons quite as effectively as i was with with the Orange Whip. I did notice more distance with my Driver during the weekend club competition, which considering the length of the Gold Flex, one would presume is its primary target. But whether or not the Orange Whip had as much of an impact as the Gold Flex (on my Driving improvement) could be open for debate.Naturally, depending on your swing issues / needs (irons or woods) / etc. each person will have a different experience. If you can, give both a go before deciding on which is best. Maybe i shot myself in the foot by trying the more expensive Orange Whip first....But as far as training aids go, this is the first product that has been able to produce such dramatic results in such a short space of time! So if you are on the fence about whether or not to purchase this, don't be. You will not regret it.Good luck!!

I have had my SKLZ Gold Flex for a month now and it has really helped me change my swing from swinging the club "over the top" producing a slice because I was leading with my upper body to leading with my lower body and reducing my slice to a good straight ball flight. You have to be focus in its use, I use it twice a day. In the morning I warm up with it for about 20 swings, then I swing my driver concentrating on the motion of starting the downswing with my hips and delaying my arms for 10 swings; I then repeat the process with a 6 iron and then a pitching wedge. In the evenings I do another 30 swings concentrating on the mechanics of the swing. You have to focus on the tempo of the swing. The benefits I have seen are a straighter ball flight; I am longer off the tee and generally more consistent. The biggest change has been my driving, I have went from an inconsistent driver with a slice, to a straight driver with a lower more penetrating ball flight. I gained about 20 yards. It took me 4 or 5 rounds of golf and 10 practise range sessions to get use to the new motion in my golf swing.I did notice sore core muscles for the first couple of weeks, but none after that.I am really pleased with the results so far and would recommend it if you swing over the top and are willing to put in the work to change your swing.

This is a brilliant training aide. Any reasonable golfer will immediately feel the benefit of using this equipment but a complete beginner may struggle with it. Very quickly you get to feel what a good swing should feel like and you can learn to build up the all important lag. There's no doubt that it strengthens your core muscles in this process and it's worth taking with you down the range even if you do get a few funny looks. It's also great as a warm-up tool: a lot better than swinging a couple of clubs.Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, there is nothing wrong with the build quality. It's very robust and I can't see anything that might come apart! After using it for 2 weeks I added about 10 yards to each iron and 20 yards to my drives. Now I use it all the time because as well as helping the golf swing it works on the muscles in your waist.I also bought an Orange Whip trainer for a friend so I was able to compare the two products. The SKLZ is a bit heavier so if you are a senior or junior you might be better getting the Orange Whip. However, I prefer the SKLZ because it is heavier, half the price and the grip can be changed; with the Orange Whip it's not so easy to re-grip.

It took me a while to get the hang of this product. Lots of YouTube videos available to explain how to get the best out of this product even if the videos show the orange ball. The yellow ball seems to match all the expectations presented in the orange ball videos. However, there is one quality that does not appear to have been highlighted. As you swing the trainer back and forth concentrate on the blurred yellow image that passes your view of where the ball will be when you use your driver. What happens is that the yellow ball leaves a trace like a line . From this trace you can clearly see the difference between an in to out swing and an out to in swing.Once you "see" this you can match that to the feel of the device as the heavier weight and very flexible shaft seems smooth in the in to out swing line but feels awkward in the out to in line.I know it sounds complicated but, for me, this gives me some hope that I can use the product to genuinely improve my swing.Last point is you should consider wearing gloves on both hands. Maybe it will be leass wearing on my hands when I get the swiong path consistently correct. For now I'm wearing gloves on both hands.

Firstly I'll confess to being an aged hacker who will never excel at golf but I love the game and the constant self challenge to improve my own game.My swing has always been very fast - some have compared me to a demented axe man trying to chop down trees. The SKLZ Gold Flex has helped me to slow and groove my swing. The shaft is very flexible and combined with the weight on the end it forces you to slow down by having to wait for the end weight to catch up to ensure the shaft is straight at the bottom of your swing. This phenomenon forces you into creating lag which was sadly lacking from my original swing.I still haven't managed to perfect my swing yet but I am getting there and with a regular five or ten minute session using the Gold Flex,I feel confident I will improve my swing - and my game overall. The SKLZ Gold Flex is not the cheapest golf aid but I believe (for me) it is one of the most useful and beneficial aids I have used.Highly recommended for those wishing to groove their swing.

Not sure it would suit people who are very new to the game, but for everyone else it's a must/should have. Swing this for 15 -20 minutes and (a) you will know all about it the next day i.e. building up the right golfing muscles, (b) give you much improved tempo and lag so increasing clubhead speed and (c) force you to start your downswing from the ground up rather than come over the top when the shoulders make the first move. If you do make the incorrect move in transition the flexible shaft gives instant Feedback in the form of a shudder. Very highly recommended. No instructions come with it, but the videos on YouTube demonstrate it adequately.I cannot understand the reviews that say it not well manufactured as it is never meant to touch the ground when being swung so if it is used correctly there is nothing to break. Every golfer should have one of these and it would make an excellent present. (+ I experienced wonderful service from Amazon - many thanks).

Have only tried this out for 5-10 minutes, used it as a warming-up tool and help control my swing. When stepping up with the driver I feel loose and somehow last night, I was delivering crisp drives, I was going further than I usually do. (I'm what you class as an OK golfer lol) but practise makes perfect. With the results I was getting in practise last night, definitely a worthy purchase! For example, 2nd hole is 318yd, Used the Gold Flex trainer, took a few swings back and fourth adjusted my tempo when the club shaft was hitting me at the back of the head. I managed to drive around 200-220yd then take my 7i and landed about 5-8ft from the hole.I've played on this course for the best part of 3-4 years and have never managed a birdie on this particular hole. (My overall score usually around 90-100). Hopefully see an improvement.Cons - Needs a head cover lol as it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I got this 2 weeks ago, and have used it in practice rounds before every tee shot. Used to have quite a dramatic slice when I was trying to clobber it; and conversely pulled it trying to swing gently. My tee shots are dramatically better after using this. Consistently straighter and about 20 yards longer, as I am timing things much better and hitting them out of the sweet spot. Your driver feels incredibly light in comparison after using this, and consequently I guess my hips are clearing much better as my body still thinks I'm swinging this beast, and giving me that all important lag.It may be a coincidence, but yesterday shot +7 round Holywood Golf Club and I play off 18. Ok so it was off the winter tees, but still.I'm not sure if it's designed for this, but try hitting balls on the range with it! If you can hit them straight with this, you're not going far wrong!!! lol

a genuine swing aid. This will definitely help to engrave an in to out powerful swing, if used regularly. You really do feelthe 'magic move' from the transition from the top, the most important move in golf, will help develop the feeling of hitting from the inside out,and help fight the slice. Also your trunk really gets a good workout. It forces you to swing with a more steady temp due to heavier weight, when fully swung the weight stays back and forces the hips to initiate the downswing as they should.as much as £50 or so cheaper than the orange whip and I cannot see what that could do that the SKLZ does not, further there are loadsof vids on you tube with examples of workouts with the club.Very well recommended

There were existing excellent and good reviews on both Amazon UK and USA but it took a leap of faith for me to buy this however, that faith has been rewarded. The weight and flex of the trainer appears just right to give you a true feel for the golf swing. It promotes a good takeaway and then throughswing at a comfortable easy tempo which has translated into a transformed swing on the course. This has proved to be in the top two of golf training aids I have bought. It has worked for me and I hope it does for you too. The only improvement I could suggest is for more information to be supplied with the Swing Trainer on how to get the best out of it. You really need online access to get this.

I agree with all of the posted comments. My main concern though is that the grip is way too thin. I've experienced sore hands and subsequently a worn grip. After playing for 40 years and always re-griping my own clubs I was horrified to find that when the SKLZ grip had worn out it was not replaceable due to the shaft containing a very thin nylon rod pushed into the top of the shaft. YOU CANNOT REPLACE THIS GRIP WITH ANY STANDARD GOLF GRIP. There needs to be replacement grips in several thicknesses for differing hand sizes. If they are not available can you please produce some. Take note SKLZ and potential purchasers as this training aid is otherwise up there with the best.

I'm generally a bit sceptical about golf training aids, but I thoroughly recommend the gold flex. This allows you to feel the 'club head' throughout the swing so that you can appreciate the pressure points in the grip. You can also understand the feeling of lag at the transition and learn the movements needed to accelerate the club head through the impact zone. It's also easy to see the yellow ball path to understand whether you are swinging in-to-out, out-to-in or along the target line. All of these essentials are quite difficult to get right with an ordinary club, but easy when swinging the golf flex.

This tool has done exactly what I bought it for. I have always struggled in feeling the club at the top, and starting the downswing with my hips instead of my hands, especially with the driver. This has reinforced the mechanics of the swing for me, ensuring that everything moves in sync, and really improving my tempo. With lock down being in place, i have regularly used this, and saw great results out on the course last week.It is certainly one of the better tools that I have bought over the years, and believe me, I have purchased many.I would recommend!

Bought this in September 2017 but only writing review now because wanted to see results in my game!Recently, I’ve been taking SKLZ flex to driving range and using it before hitting shots. It has helped so much as was only using arms before but it’s helping me turn and have more rhythm in my swing.I’m 35 handicap and have been more consistent and achieving better scores recently.Working for me!The reason for 4 stars is only because it comes with no instructions and I had to look on the internet how to use it.
