I got this when I realised that my ten year old Shimano Tiagra 4500 bottom bracket needed replacing. It is very easy to fit - just remove the crank, unscrew the old bottom bearing, and replace with this. There are lots of very good videos for this, I found the Park Tools ones best (you want the one for the BB with threaded shell, and the one for two piece crank removal). The only thing to be aware of is that this is a smaller diameter than the other (?older) Hollowtech II BBs - so you cant directly use your existing tool. However, this does come with the plastic insert that makes your larger diameter tool work - you just slot the plastic insert into your existing tool. Depending on the actual tool you have,it may or may not work. It didnt fit into the Ice Toolz or BT WIN tools I had, as the plastic insert was slightly too large in diameter. Other people have also said that it doesnt fit, but the simple fix is to file down the outside of the plastic insert until it does fit. Gentle use of a plastic mallet will help too.

The Shimano BBR60 Bottom Bracket (the external bearings for the pedal cranks on a bike) are easy to replace and this new style bottom bracket seems to be smoother than the older style. The tool which is shown on the left side of the bottom bracket is provided and it is used to tighten the "nuts" which contain the bearings on each side. The box that the bottom bracket comes in also has an instruction sheet on how to do the replacement. It should take about a half hour to do the job.I have ridden about 100 miles since I replaced the bottom bracket on my bike and it works perfectly. The old bottom bracket was clicking after many miles and the replacement fixed the clicking.

Got this to replace what I think was a shimano xt bb. At first I was worried as the outer race is visibly smaller than the original, but turns out the inner threads are a perfect fit. It installed easily and everything was pre-greased. I don't much enjoy the notch-adapter, but at least they included it. Since I only really service my own bike, I just jammed the adapter into my park bb-wrench and leave it there since I have no other bb's to work on.It pedals very nice... most of the creaking I was putting up with before disappeared. Not sure if it's an upgrade, but it's plenty cheap as parts go.

I found there seems to be a large array of bottom brackets to choose from, but many say they are for mountain bikes. I was after one for a road bike compatible with CLARIS R2000 Series main gear, as I noticed my current one had a square taper crank fitting, but my lovely new one I had imported from France was a spline fitting ie a series of teeth. Other people in my club said I needed a Shimano Hollotech II bottom bracket and then looking at the Shimano site for the main gear you can see the recommended bottom brackets shown under PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS which is this one for a threaded frame :)

I have tried a few different bottom bracket from different manufacturers but on all occasions I've come back to Shimano, you simply can't beat their build quality and durability. As others have reported; the plastic tool adapter is a bit pants. Although personally I never had a problem using it to fit the BB it was only when I tried using the adapter to remove a very tight BB that it broke. It's fine for fitting but I'll buy the proper tool to remove it.On the plus side, the plastic adapter prevents you marking the finish on the BB cups.

I remember the old days trying to set up the awful square taper bottom brackets, murder. Even the internal bearing sealed bottom brackets seemed to give me loads of problems and never lasted long but the shimano hollowtech bottom brackets have been rock solid.I generally seem to get around a year out of a bottom bracket, but I ride all year round and have been caught in some horrific weather. Cheap, good quality and takes 10 minutes to replace. The direction of the threads are even marked so you can't make a mistake, love them!

I bought this bottom bracket to support a new compact crankset that I was using to replace the standard crankset that came with the bike, a crankset which used the octolink bb style. This bottom bracket was just slightly more expensive than the model down from it, so I spent the extra money. I have no idea if it was worth more money, but it installed easily, fit the crankset perfectly, and has been flawless over the 100 miles or so that I've ridden with it. Mission accomplished.

I replaced the FSA BB that started to tick after less than 800 miles on our tandem. The new BB came well greased and works great with the existing FSA cranks. So smooth now and no more ticking! I am not sold on the plastic adapter as it's another thing I need to keep in the toolbox but it got the job done. I anticipate a nice long life from this BB so fingers crossed!

This is a straight replacement for a SM-BB7900 I have on my Specialized Allez Comp. If you have the BB removal tool for the BB7900, this BBR60 comes with the adapter to allow installation of the new BB.So far I am happy as the replacement took only 15 mins and seems fine so far. Will go for a longer ride tomorrow so will see how things fair. But so far, all great!

Great value. I just replaced Prowheel BB68 external threaded bottom bracket. Only lost a star because the right side thread was very stiff and I ended up nearly stripping all the teeth off the plastic adapter tool that came with it. Cranks are now spinning smooth and quiet with no play...I’m happy I didn’t pay for someone else to do it. DIY is the way to go.

It’s a Shimano Ultegra Bottom bracket you should get about 6-7000 miles on it depending on conditions and QC of your frame. Torque to 40nm wet is very important in getting maximum life out of shimano bbs. I prefer these over the Dura-Ace versions as the bearings are larger and I can use my Park BBT-9 socket and torque wrench to set the correct torque specs.

I have an older FSA Gossamer crankset that came on a 2008 Specialized Roubaix. I bought this to replace the existing FSA BB that came on the bike. I can confirm that it does not fit. The crank will not fully seat into the BB, even with some aggressive tapping with a rubber mallet. Live and learn. Seems like a great product otherwise, hence the 4 stars.

I recently installed this BB on two bikes. If you haven't installed BBs before, when you install them, they feel stiff and sluggish, but this is normal. After a few rides, all of the grease distributes and they become very free spinning. I had no problems with the installation, or the use once out riding.

Bottom bracket is excellent! It's Shimano, my experience is that their components are excellent. Adapter tool is marginal. Using a bottom bracket socket and a torque wrench, the plastic teeth deformed. I just managed to get the second side tightened adequately. At best it is a single use tool.

Probably the smoothest bottom bracket I've ever used, with noticeably less friction than prior Shimano hollowtech II BBs. The plastic installation adapter was a bit finicky, especially used with my Lezyne external bottom bracket tool, but worked well enough. No issues yet after 400 miles.
