Spins super smooth and casts are smooth with mono and braided. I also got my dad a sedona reel, but can't say one is smoother than the other.If I had to choose again I would buy the 1000 instead of the 2500. sizes are about the same, but the 1000 is considerably lighter and both. Having tried both they are great for walleye and trout, even small pike and bass.My biggest pet peve is how hard it is to get extra spools and how expensive they are; I like to change my lines depending on the water and species im fishing

Why choose any other reel? Honestly, it's smooth, probably the smoothest reel I've ever touched. It's flow is honestly magical. You'll know after you try this one. I used the 3000 for Bass fishing and couldn't have been happier. It has a quick ratio and now I'm using this one to help cast further for Crappie season. Don't settle for less.. I went through about 2-3 $30 reels before I realized this was a smart purchase. Don't see myself owning a different one ever..

I wasn't a very avid fisherman until recently, and then I learned the difference between a good reel and a cheap reel. This reel has very fluid movement and can cast the distance. I definitely enjoy this reel because of how big and how easy it is to adjust on the go and how fine tuned you can make this! Haven't pulled in the monster yet, but will someday soon! Definitely has good action and slow enough reel to attract bass, crappie, and catfish!

Was looking for a replacement spinning reel & this one fits the bill perfectly. It may be classed as a freshwater reel but purchased for sea fishing, my previous Garcia Mitchell 440a was 35yrs old & used entirely for sea fishing, still working but looking a little tired now hence replacement, just clean after use & it should be fine. Very smooth running & not missing the anti- reverse, highly recommended.

Got the reel today. Need it for fishing for trout in a lake. Needed it to cast a mile, put 6lb Stren Magnatjin on it and a 1/4 oz kastmaster spoon on and went out to my local lake to try it out. It cast 60yds easily into a 15-20 mph wind. Quite happy with it and super smoothe. Only doubt is plastic drag cover will have to see how it holds up. This is my first ever Shimano reel.

Takes a while to finally hit my address; delay possibly due to movement control amid the Covid-19 Have a quick assessment to the product, its extremely light weight and smooth, flawless finishing appearance. I am eager to have this new Reel be put on action in my next fishing trip. Thank you.

I've always stuck with Shimano for my spinning reels and there's a reason for that. This reel feels great in the hand, is super smooth and casts a mile. If you're on the fence about which finesse reel to buy, just buy this.

Shimano has come a long way in building quality spinning reels. Still a little pricy but you can't beat the workmanship and the thought that goes into each reel. Bought a second and third one to replace my old gear.

I have different shimano reel, stradic; strdic i4+ and sustain, compare to those, this sahara is worth for the price, special for the beginner. I bought this for a gift, and I have tried it, it is smooth enough.

My husband saw this in Cabela's and said he really liked it. The spinning action was very smooth and he wanted to get one soon. I got it for him as a surprise anniversary gift and he is SUPER happy.

Great reel, smooth action, easy use, nice look. Seems pretty tough and well built, like it can take the abuse of being thrown in the bed of the truck or boat. Does the job. No complaints.

feels great, i just wished they made a 'Hagane' version in the size i ordered.My opinion, but don't think the black/gold color is as nice as the older Sahara white (pearl)/gold.

No complains, nice and smooth reel, got 4000 size. Quality seems to be good. Caught some fish on my first day out with this reel. Casting distance is good with no problems.

My first and favorite reel. Had it for a couple of months and used it only a few times but super smooth casts, light weight and the perfect size for catching bass

Fantastic quality, great machining on the gears, easy to service to ensure a long life. This reel should be the standard for spinning reels in the $60 range.
