Spins super smooth and casts are smooth with mono and braided. I also got my dad a sedona reel, but can't say one is smoother than the other.If I had to choose again I would buy the 1000 instead of the 2500. sizes are about the same, but the 1000 is considerably lighter and both. Having tried both they are great for walleye and trout, even small pike and bass.My biggest pet peve is how hard it is to get extra spools and how expensive they are; I like to change my lines depending on the water and species im fishing

Was looking for a replacement spinning reel & this one fits the bill perfectly. It may be classed as a freshwater reel but purchased for sea fishing, my previous Garcia Mitchell 440a was 35yrs old & used entirely for sea fishing, still working but looking a little tired now hence replacement, just clean after use & it should be fine. Very smooth running & not missing the anti- reverse, highly recommended.

This is a great ultra light reel and Shimano quality. I started to just buy one of those low cost reels with the hi bearing count but I'm used to having quality that I can easily get parts for if needed. I have Penn and Shimano reels that are so old they are obsolete and finally unable to get parts but they are still functional and catching fish so why buy throw away reel for half the price right!

I love the reel at the first sight of it on its built, the quality, the smoothness, you can never doubt the expectation from Shimano when a reel is created to suit every fisherman on their needs and requirements. Well done Shimano please continue with more future new great inventions for the world.

Very good quality and dependable. I've used on 2 different fishing expeditions now and I have put it through reaction, durability, and high end strength and drag use. Very good for light weight applications and continuous casting and proved to be a great reel for larger game fishing.

Shamano’s pricing has gotten out of control. I like the Stradic but am not going to pay $250 for a reel that doesn’t last any longer than those less expensive. The Sahara is around $80 and lasts just as long (for those that abuse their stuff!). A good choice for a midpriced reel.

Great reel for the money. Smooth and light, easy to use and care. I’ve hooked monster snook on this one and haven’t had an issue. It does feel ‘cheap’ but underneath is a solid shimano mechanism. Great casting and retrieving on this reel.

Good reel for the price. I would buy this again. Shimano makes and offer a lot of reel but this one is built far better than the price it is listed at. This reel is comparable to reel twice its price point IMO.

My husband saw this in Cabela's and said he really liked it. The spinning action was very smooth and he wanted to get one soon. I got it for him as a surprise anniversary gift and he is SUPER happy.

Paired with a 7’ MH UgliStick Inshore rod and the set-up was well balanced and very light weight. Caught a 5-6 pound channel cat ant the reel performed flawlessly. Very happy with the Sahara 5000.

No complains, nice and smooth reel, got 4000 size. Quality seems to be good. Caught some fish on my first day out with this reel. Casting distance is good with no problems.

My first and favorite reel. Had it for a couple of months and used it only a few times but super smooth casts, light weight and the perfect size for catching bass

I bought this reel a few days ago and so far i love it. The reel is smooth like butter and for the price you can’t beat it. I recommend this reel to anyone.

Love this reel. Super smooth casting and drag. I wanted a stradic but opted for this instead and it sure doesn't disappoint.

Great reel with great price. Shimano makes great reels at all price points. Only wished the reel had reverse retrieve.
