I bought this as an identical replacement for a previous one that fell apart after one year's use. Other reviewers have had similar experiences of poor build quality. But it is cheap, very compact (I haven't seen any smaller) and has excellent reach for retrieving balls from water, ditches or undergrowth. No instructions came with mine and it tool a little time to work out that one scoops a ball by inverting the cup and placing it over the ball, not by getting the cup under the ball. A small projecting spigot goes under the ball and keeps it within the cup. You have to be quite definite in your movement to get the spigot under the ball. Its not foolproof and in muddy water, if not successful first time, its easy to end up pushing the ball into the mud and it becomes irrecoverable. But overall, and with some practice, it works well.Postscript: the second one has just fallen apart after less than a year and minimal use. I don't think I will risk buying a third but will pay a bit more for a retriever of higher quality.

This is a very compact retriever, it fits in to my coat pocket, and has been used just about every day for the last 14 months. The local course has plenty of rough, and a stream along the bottom. the build is similar to an old type car Ariel, with a reach of nearly 7 foot. I have used it to retrieve balls from the stream, when you can only see the top of the ball, as it sits in silt and mud, with no damage to the retrieve, it has flexed at full extent, and the last section would possibly bend or buckle with too much pressure, but to just retrieve a ball it is fine. Used with a bit of care and attention it will last.I have gained over 1000 balls in 14 months, just walking with the dogs, and during play, which shows that this is as good if not better that what the golfers use on my local course, it has paid for it's self many many times over, and I don't buy golf balls anymore, I have spares.

Given the low price I was pleasantly surprised by the quality feel of this item. The metallic shaft extends a fair distance and feels as robust as you can reasonably expect at it's full length. The handle is soid and thick, giving a fair bit of control. Although the cup is plastic, it feels robust and captures/holds the balls easily and securely. Indeed, if the cup were metal the added weight would detract from its usability at full extension. The whole unit collapses to quite a small length and should fit easily into or onto any bag.My only reservation is that as it so easy to deploy and use, when my golf is rubbish I'm often tempted to go fishing for balls instead!

Arrived promptly. Very simple, inexpensive and easy to use telescopic design. No fiddly clamping devices. Probably would not stand up to extremely heavy use, but hopefully will never need to do so. Has already proved its worth due to the abnormal attraction between golf balls and water. Would recommend this product.

not being a good golfer i invested in this golf ball retriever by pga, whilst my score for a round still remains in the high ninetys my ball losses have dropped considerably. a well made product.could be a little longer {as the actress said to the bishop} but still a usefull tool

Ordered this because me and my awesome family managed to collect over 200 golf balls from the fields around the course. Personally I think this is because kids these days are well lazy and don't live properly anymore. I plan on getting 409 balls with this beast next time.

Product is very useful. Have already recovered several golf balls from water, bushes, etc. that would otherwise have been inaccessible. Has paid for itself!Only complaint is delivery - It was delivered before 7 a.m. - woke us up!

The very fact that the ball retriever was endorsed by the PGA gave me confidence in the product. Now that I have used it, I know that it was a good decision. It is long enough for my purposes and the cup picks up the ball easily.

I play a game which can loosely be described as golf so this gadget has come in very useful and has paid for itself already. There are a lot of streams and gorse bushes on my course, so I now also have a lot of grateful friends!

Great little tool, folds down to approx 12 inches so easy to carry in your bag and ball clip in cup ensures ball is held secure when lifting retriever up from deep gulleys / troughsI would definitely recommend this purchase

Brought this as a Christmas gift. Seems to be good, and is in a nice box so that looks better than others I’ve seen. Only complaint is the box came slightly damaged, but this could have been from the delivery.

This strong, serviceable, plastic ball retriever is compact for easy fitting in a side pocket of the golf bag. Simple to use. Value for money. Have not had to use it much yet as I am straight down the middle.

I bought this as a presant for a very close friend. He assures me whatever I paid for it, it as paid for itself within weeks as he has retrieved not only his own golf balls but a number lost by other people.

Haven't had much chance to use it yet, thanks to weather here in Sunny Scotland. I've had one before though (which broke) after years of good service. I've recommended it to several members of my Golf Club
