So anyway I ordered a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Plus 26X1.5 style 348 tires that have a reputation purported to be difficult to mount. Ahhh I'll just treat myself to a pair of genuine imported steel tire levers just to be safe I says. Wow that was my best idea for a Wednesday. The Marathons have a tight wire bead that had it not been for the beautifully shaped tip and extra length for leverage I would be babbling curses to this day. These levers are ideal with a dainty pry lip easy to manipulate to the tires inside bead with forged cold steel brute toughness to persuade any tire into submission. The surface treatment isn't good for sliding to remove a tire so having a fairly complete shop I decidedto manicure a nice ramp on the big handle end. With a machinists 2x36 belt sander I shaped the metal past the hanger hole into a shallow spoon profile high at the crown tappering to pretty thin at the edge. Finished my artful sculpture with progressively finer Wet N Dry paper to 1,200 grit. That worked beautiful. Now with the bead raised by one pry bar I slip the modified big end with the hump between the tire and tube to scamper around the rim releasing the bead.If you were to do the same and worry about scratching the rim try a piece of UHMW tape on the flat; it'd slide better and wouldn't scratch. At 'bout 17 bucks these ain't cheap but the satisfaction of an easy mount or dismount? Priceless.

They weren't lying when they said these are for the hardest tire/rim combos. I seriously have one of the worst possible setups, as I've completely bent or snapped every other type of bike tire lever and countless metal objects. These are best for me. They're roughly eight inches long and are easily sturdy enough to get the job done without breaking. I've used these a couple times now.Obviously these are not little plastic levers, so don't listen to the reviews which complain it's overkill or that they damaged their rims. If you're tires/rims are like mine, then deep scratches along the rim are inevitable with ANY tool strong enough unless you take extra steps to protect your rims.

My current rim/tire/tube combo is very difficult (impossible really) to get off and on with the plastic? lever set I had been using for years, so I started using a screwdriver, but went looking for metal levers to reduce the probability of damaging my tubes and rims. These work great. They are bigger than I anticipated, but I like them being this big and I do carry them with my in my tool kit on my bike (they will make quick work of changing a tube/spoke while on the road). I still have my other levers should I need a 3rd one (but I have never needed more than 2 in the past). They are about 8" x 1" and 3/16th of an inch thick and together weigh 330g (11.6oz).

When you have stubborn tire beads that break lesser levers, these get the job done. I've been able to mount and unmount very tight tires without scratching the rim but in all honesty, when I have to resort to steel tire levers I don't really care about a few scratches. The curved tips do a great job of catching the rim or bead without pushing up into the tube, minimizing if not eliminating the risk of pinches. They're just long enough to give good leverage and are comfortable in the hand. I'm very satisfied with these and pretty much any other Park tools in my kit.

I only had the small plastic tire levers that came with my Bell multi-tool and I wanted a set for the house that was stronger. These are definitely it; strong, large, heavy metal and thick, you do not have to worry about breaking these. Ideal to put in your bike tool box, I suppose you could carry them in a bicycle repair bag if you do not care about size or weight. The price is good and the quality is excellent. For home repair, you cannot go wrong if you buy these.

Ideally, you'll get your tire off with your hands or plastic tire levers. These tire levers definitely get the job done when the tires are really tight on the rim.Beware that you can apply a tremendous amount of force on the rim with these tire levers. Stay away from the seam on the rim which is usually opposite the valve hole. If you do, you can bend the rim there. Your also likely to mark the rim, which can be sanded out later.

Sturdy levers that are not showing any signs of bending. Forget the plastic tire levers, even the ones made by Park Tool, they will eventually break. Mounted and re-mounted heavy mountain bike downhill tires with these lever. Downhill tires have practically no stretch at the bead to get around the rim, this handle them like a boss. These levers will marr your rims so protect with a rag when removing and re-installing tires.

After reading reviews I was afraid to get these thinking I would puncture my new tubes. Ive only used them once, carrfully, and I did not puncture anything. The size of them really help. In the past Ive only used small levers when you change a tire with a lever this size theres certainly a difference. Lifetime tools, theyll probably outlive most of their owners .

I keep a couple of plastic levers and one TL-6 lever in my bike bag, but the TL-5's are some 'big boys' that come in handy from time to time.It turned out that I needed one very soon after they arrived. I could have eventually done the job without them but with a whole lot more work and hassle.Glad to have them. It's all about the leverage.

Put these to work on some notoriously rigid Schwalbe wire bead tires. My rims took a beating -- these will cut through cloth or tape used to shield the rim while dis/mounting the tire -- but I got the tires off/on. Yes, I could have taken better precautions; no doubt the LBS would have done better, too. Point is, these worked flawlessly.

They are pretty heavy, and solid. With plastic ones, you don't have much leverage as they are short, and at the same time with smaller tires that have little give, you are afraid you will break the levers. These are long enough to give you leverage, and you are not afraid to use the force as they won't break.

Most things pictured on eBay seem smaller in real life. These aren’t! They are big (20cm), sturdy and make light work of awkward tyres, well worth the premium price tag in terms of time and effort saved. They are also quite heavy (335g/pair) if weight is important to you.

4.5.2014

These levers will never break. Mostly, they work just as they should. But they lack a system to lock them in place to a spoke and they are a little large for certain tire/rim combinations which makes them hard to manipulate.

Exactly what it's supposed to be. This is what everyone who buys cheap Chinese tires should buy - they greatly reduce the amount of effort needed to mount any tire to any wheel. Also the shopping experience was excellent.

Excellent product these will last years for sure! Lots of leverage makes inner tube changes a breeze! The only bad thing for others might be that they take up some space but I have no gripes about that.
