Solid well-made bottom bracket (Shimano/Deore) remover.Used with 1" socket and "T" bar.As there is very little recess on the bottom bracket splines, I found it necessary to thoroughly clean out all the spline recesses first to avoid slippage damage.Check which way to unscrew you splines before putting too much pressure on the bracket - mine was clockwise to UNSCREW on the drive side and anti-clockwise on the other side. Also make sure if you are replacing to get the matching overall length (mine was 123-mm), the dimensions of the bottom bracket sleeve (mine was 68-mm) and the screw thread diameter and pitch (can't remember the exact figures but 24-mm and about 1-mm pitch is what to look for)One thing to watch out for is the fact that only one side of the bearing is well supported, the other side is more of plastic dust cap. Cross threading this or too much pressure could spell disaster. The plastic cap is generally a distinctively different colour.Clean up the crank square sockets before refitting. The lightest of oils helps on the surfaces. The old bearing was well rusted, so the new one has a coting of lithium grease. Surprised to find water in the bracket, but given the number of ways water can get into the frame, it shouldn't have been

This will remove a bottom bracket, however I found removing mine impossible until I though of an idea. I was turning the correct way, but I was just holding the tool on the splines by hand and using an adjustable spanner. My bottom bracket wouldn't budge and the tool kept slipping. This damaged the threads on my bottom bracket. Some of the Youtube guides made this task seem so easy....likely because theirs was pre-loosened no doubt. Here's what I did. I found myself a bolt of appropriate size and some washers. Along with the washers I managed to bolt the tool in place on the bottom bracket splines so it wouldn't move. This allowed my to get more leverage and the bottom bracket unscrewed quite easily. Also,it's best to remove the non-drive side first. The right drive side you turn clockwise to loosen and on the left non drive side anti-clockwise to loosen. Easy way to remember is you turning forward towards the front wheel for loosening. This is for English threaded frames though, which are the most common.

Excellent quality tool and very happy with it, bought it too remove an old shimano bb and it did so easily. Be aware tho on older style shimano bb's like mine, the depth of the female part, the cup on one side that the tool (the male part) sits in too is very shallow and angles in so it is tricky (and a little dangerous... tool slipping out and skinned knuckles) too get good purchase with the tool. Not the fault of the tool at all, it's in the design of the cups on the bb (deliberetly obviously so u have too use/buy the old shimano tool... which isn't avail anymore)Got around it by duct taping the tool too my adjustable spanner i was using, laying the bike on the floor and pushing down on it as i gave it a few good solid whacks with a rubber mallet, and hey presto, came of a treat B-D thanks dietmar for that advice B-)Very important too check your thread direction too. On mine, how i remembered/figured it, was too loosen is towards the front wheel as the bike is lying down (again thanks dietmar!)

After over 10 years! it was finally time to (well overdue) to change the bottom bracket on my spare GT hybrid bike. After reading reviews, and also previous experience with ParkTool I went for this tool. Now I did not read the description well enough, and was expecting that it had a 1/2" driver for my wrench. I do not have a 3/8" driver, nor a 1" socket. Luckily I have a ParkTool chainwhip, which I ended up using. Lots of lubricant. Boy...that was tight. I ended up using a hammer as a a last resort, which worked!.Same method applied on other side. And I did get the old rusty Truvativ bracket out. Slight bending of pins in the bottom bracket, but the tool appear absolutely fine.I guess it is quite expensive compared to alternative brands which I have not tried. Bought this anyway as I would have been more annoyed with myself if a low quality tool had damaged the fittings. Now to get a new bottom bracket, fit it, and chances are that the tool will end up in my toolbox never to be used again...

I had another tool for this job which i got as part of a big pack of cycling tools. I actually bent and partially ground the teeth off of that tool as it wouldn't sit in the bottom bracket splines properly (despite holding it in place with a woodworking clamp), i tried lots of PTFE spray, using a big scaffolding pole for extra leverage and a hammer. After much time wasted and basically destroying the old tool, I ordered one of these. This one worked pretty much first try, i used a quick-release skewer from my front wheel through the middle of the BB and this tool, plus washer to hold it onto the the splines/teeth. Despite ~10 years of corrosion seizing in the old BB cartridge, this tool removed the BB by just applying a bit of bodyweight onto the tool.

I had to get my old bike up and running ASAP, which led to some gut-wrenching level bodging, I forced a re-thread in to my bikes bottom bracket (NOT suggested!) and this tool survived with only paint damage. Expensive but can't give a tool that worked perfectly anything less than 5 stars - lesser steels would have ended up with everything broken.

BB took some shifting with this tool, socket and tommy bar. Need freeing oil on for a few days. Almost reached for the air tool impact ratchet!Easier with a friend to hold the bike steady. BB designs has very shallow tool coupling so careful it doesn't jump out and strip the tool or the BB.

Used with 2x 50mm bolts with 1mm thread and washers for extremely stubborn and rusted BB from steel frame after some 17 years.Get the Park Freewheel Remover Wrench Tool FRW1 to make your life easy.Expensive but turns a knuckle skinning swear fest into a 5 minute dream job.

It took care of the bottom bracket nut with ease, well i was also using a 3 foot adjustable wrench, lolool,Yes it is a bit pricey but it is worth the money ,Last thing you want is a worn down bolt cause you did`nt spend the extra for a top notch tool.

Worked perfectly and seems very robust and hard-wearing. I was worried as I needed to remove a Bottom Bracket that had been in use for 15 years and I had read that it's very easy to damage the splines. I had no trouble at all.

This is a very good tool for removing the locking rings on a Shimano bottom bracket. It undid some very well rusted in locking rings on my daughters bike, having been left out through the winter.

A better tool than any other tools for the BB. Highly recommended. I can put the BB bolt with a washer to hold the tool on the BB prevent from it slipped out when I un-tighten/tighten the BB.

tried removing a very tight bottom bracket with a cheaper tool and it broke. Used this and gave superb secure fit and turned old unit first time. Highly recommended well worth the money

Teeth could be a bit longer but opened an impossible bottom bracket when used in conjunction with the '32mm Gedore Ring Slogger'. Sounds obscene but correct description.

Worth spending the extra for this - couldn't get cheaper ones over the spindle but this is perfectly designed and did the job really well.
