Update 2, 14 Sept:- Amazon shipped a new pair promptly, collimation on new pair is fine. But clearly an issue with this model (easy to tell if yours is badly collimated, you'll get double images or cross eyes when swapping binocs in and out, there are tests on the Internet too)New pair is excellent. Comparing with a mid-range Minolta 10x50 6.6 degree Porro prism...Olympus has excellent field of view for a 10x, really does seem to be 6.5 degrees. Gives a great immersive feel when viewing. Olympus has crisp image edge to edge of field of view, probably better than Minolta. Olympus image is bright enough in normal daylight but can't comment on twilight viewing.Olympus image shake quite tolerable and no worse than the much bigger Minolta. Olympus eye relief is not very big, would not recommend these for use while wearing spectacles. Olympus has slight colour fringing on very high contrast edges, eg bird silhoutte against sunlit water. Minolta has fringing too but Olympus is a bit worse. Olympus fringing not noticeable in normal use. Olympus fringing gets worse towards edge of field of view (particularly top left & bottom right) but I think Minolta suffers more from this problem. Olympus focus wheel has some slop in it and a faint crackling noise - I wonder if something to do with the waterproofing? But focusing works well enough. Olympus strap and case seem well made. 285 g weight so slightly more than spec. But easy to carry on a belt.----Update 1, 9 Sept after a couple of weeks: collimation issues have emerged, as others have reported. Basically get eye strain looking through them for long periods, need chameleon eyes to use.. Can see collimation error using various tests on the Internet eg project an image of the sun onto cardboard and measure the distance between the images. It changes with distance from the binocs. These need to go back to Amazon, hope replacement is good, a shame because otherwise they are fantastic.----Collimation seems perfect, no sign of the collimation issues reported by some other reviewers.Dimensions quoted are (I think) for bins in open position. In closed position they are about 105 x 70 x 50 mmEyepiece covers are separate so easy to lose.Comparing with a decent pair of Praktica 10x50 BAK4 Porro prism bins...Image surprisingly bright and very crisp. Dioptre adjustment works well. FOV good and crisp to near edges. Eye relief good. Depth of field quite small. Focus knob is very light. Closest focus is about 2 m.I was worried about image shake on 10x bins of such small size. But it's fine once they are in my eye sockets, image shake no worse than the huge Prakticas. Not much different from a pair of 8x I have as well.Good bins, I'm pleased with them

SummaryThis are excellent binoculars for the price. My only criticism is for some play of the focusing wheel. Else they are just brilliant. I actually think it may even be a design choice as the play seems to allow fine tuning rather than being just loose, but I still don't like it.DetailsPortability: 10/10They are foldable and really small. They come with a well made, perfectly fitting, simple but effective case. They are light to carry but not too light to use.The strap is fineOptical quality: 10/10They use a BaK4 prism, multicoated lenses and the prism is Phase Coated, a rarity in this price range.Mechanical quality: 9/10They are waterproof and nitrogen filled.Bearing in mind that there are some excellent binoculars in this price range with magnesium body,I am quite impressed: they feel extremely solid and well made. They are well padded and well finished. The eyecup have only a single twist regulation but they are well made and operate well. The inter-pupillary and dioptric adjustment regulations are excellent: smooth, precise and stay in place. The only issue for me is the mechanical play of the focusing wheel.Optical performance: 10/10I would rate them in absolute terms 8/10 or even 9/10 considering the excellent FoV.This is remarkable as there compact binoculars with ED glasses and dielectric coatings, costing several times more in the market. Yet the center clarity is excellent, corner clarity is very good, brightness is excellent, contrast is excellent, field of view is outstanding, chromatic aberration seems well controlled and they even have a good bokeeh (out of focus smoothness)!Operation: 8/10Minimum distance focus is excellent. They fit well in hand. They can be regulated precisely and fit individual needs. Eye relief is not the greatest, but it is fine for me. It is just a shame that the play of the focus wheel makes the focusing action less enjoyable. It is still accurate, but ultra-precise focusing is a slow business.I was looking to a good portable compact to complement some bigger pairs. I am finally happy, after trying two other models of different makers, which I returned (one was very good but faulty, the other was good optically but out of specifications and poorly finished).

I always have binoculars in my hand or pocket when I'm out & about. I use them for shepherding - checking on ewes lambing or cows calving without disturbing them, for observing activity at the entrances to my beehives from a safe distance, for birdwatching (I love to see birds but I'm not a serious birdwatcher) and generally looking at things when I'm out walking. I have previously had many pairs of cheap (£20 max) folding binns but having sold some old camera equipment for £110 I decided to treat myself to something better. My requirements were :- 8 or 10x25, a folding design & good quality optics for up to £110. At £109 these Olympus binoculars fit the bill perfectly for my purposes.I have owned several Olympus compact cameras over the years & have always found the quality excellent so I had no hesitation when I found these binoculars. They have a robust feeling, rubber exterior & the size, shape and weight when folded sits comfortably in one hand or a pocket (my hands are fairly small). The eyecups extend with one quick twist and cut out extraneous light quite effectively and the right eye adjustment stays put so I find them always correctly adjusted for my eyes. The focussing is very definite & the image clean & sharp. (from 10m away I can see the bees doing things that I wouldn't notice if I was standing right next to them) The lenscaps remove easily & the binoculars come in a good quality padded nylon case. The case does not have a strap, just a belt loop but I wouldn't use a strap anyway. The binoculars have a neckstrap that is a terrible fiddle to attach but once on it's on. Delivery time was also excellent. Ordered Thursday, arrived Saturday am with Super Saver delivery.

These are incredible. After spending a lot of time comparing them to some hawke premier 10x28, minox bf and bv 10x25 as well as some olympus 8-16x40 I was very impressed with their quality and clarity. They totally outclass the hawke and the minox which personally i found difficult to obtain a single ring of view with.these olympus come with 2 protective lens covers, a semi rigid carry case and a neck lanyard. I have to be honest and say that they have a great quality feel, better than the olympus x40I have no hesitation to recommend these bins due to their quality feel and quality optics.good job

Bought these 10x25 binocs mainly for bird watching in the garden and adjoining land at £69. They are light/ compact and feel good quality so far. The only issue is the neck strap which is rather nasty and difficult to fasten. I have bought OP/Tech QD loops to get round this. The magnification is good and as the size seems the same as the 8x25 binocs at the same price or less (the 8x25 £69 - £80 depending on colour) I would recommend these. I have knocked a star off for the cheap strap supplied.

These are truly excellent little glasses – compact, easy to use, very clear and able to focus right up close. The only problem is that one pair (of the two pairs we ordered) arrived with the two lenses out of sync with each other (i.e. duff collimation) which renders them useless. The replacement came fast and was fine, so we now have a pair in the house and a pair in the car – excellent for, eg, impromptu bird watching.

Was impressed with my other Olympus binoculars and wanted a much smaller set to pack in my camera bag for airshows. These are even smaller than i had expected but the vision is sharp and bright and focus is easy. They are so unobtrusive I keep them with me all the time as we frequently get buzzed by the odd Spitfire or Hurricane at work.Highly recommended

Bought these bins for 'The Management' as she found that her Bushnell's were becoming too heavy to carry about. They are indeed lightweight, well constructed, powerful and easy to use.All the usual features of high end bins but reasonably priced.Images are very clear and bright so wifey is a very happy bunny.

I found that the image was very good in all but the lowest of light and to be honest I use my larger and much heavier bino's for low light use. These are great to have in the car or in the camera bag when just wandering around. I dropped them in a puddle the other day and no water got into them. Recommended

I bought these in a mad rush a day before going to South Africa on holiday (which would include a safari trip). These were light and perfect and much better than I had expected. I highly recommend these, they are easy to use, great focus, just ideal and you can’t beat this price for this quality

28.12.2016

Ideal for taking on a walk, whether bird spotting or general sight seeing. Being small, compact and light weight makes them ergonomic, portable even in a pocket. Nothing short of perfect if like me you don't want to carry heavy in the way items. Big thumbs up and would highly recommend.

I bought these for walking / trekking and wanted lightweight, waterproof and high quality. The image quality is superb, fit easily into pocket and very easy to adjust.Only criticism would be the strap which is fiddly to fit but I don't use it in any event.

22.6.2015

Very well made. Optically comparable to Olympus 10x50 DPS I.which are excellent.Although there is marginally less light, this is not noticable until well after sunset. Excellent value.

24.4.2013

Nice compact waterproof binoculars - handy pouch that fits onto belt - good optics for the price. Lightweight and handy strap for round the neck - just the thing for casual walks.

These were a Christmas gift that went down very well. I was looking for good lenses that are easy to carry on walks and days out. These ticked the boxes and were good value
