.I bought these binoculars after reading the many positive reviews on Amazon, plus I was attracted by the modest price. When the binocs arrived I was shocked at the size of them! ..they looked liked a kids plastic toy - tiny binoculars for tiny hands. I felt sure I'd send them back the next day. But since I was off to Southport that day I took them with me anyway and ended up on the seashore looking over the bay towards Blackpool tower and Lytham St Annes waterfront. Well 'blow me down' I was 'shocked' at the detail and magnification. St Annes pier and waterfront stood out in large sharp detail despite being around 10 miles or so away.I then walked across the road and looked at many varieties of bird-life in Southport's Marshside bird sanctuary and I soon felt like a 'real'bird-watcher with my mini bins around my neck.Pros:Good price,Good feel,Powerful for their size and very clear. As light as a very small and basic cell phone.Produced by a UK based company who also make microscopes and medical cameras (for colonoscopy etc)Cons:Plastic body with a slightly rough looking finish .Poor detail in low light conditions (but that may be true of all binocs). The strap is basically just a wrist-strap, but will go around your neck.Fiddly cheap looking plastic caps (on eye-pieces only). Not waterproof or mist-proof.Made in China.Summary: A nice little pair of binocs for the money, very light, and so easy to pop into your pocket or rucksack and take anywhere.

Don't get me wrong - these are brilliant for sticking in your pocket as you run out the door, or leaving in the car or the office so you've always got something good to hand. They're light, and the optics are very good. For £33 you could not do better. But they're not particularly well finished. The case on one side of mine isn't quite snugly closed - I'd better make sure I don't get it wet. One lens is very very slightly further forward than the other. Picky stuff, and as I say, you can't do better - for the money. And I'll say it again - the optics are what I consider to be "very good". I'm sure I'll pick up another pair of these for leaving in the office. But when I go twitching,it's my £150 Bausch & Lombs that will go with me!UPDATE - December 2012. Still using these, and they're still really handy. Took them on safari last month and the weight was perfect for hanging round my neck in the back of a Toyota LandCruiser. They got used more than the Bausch & Lomb binoculars, just because they were so convenient.

We've just returned from our holiday in Scotland where these have been used every day for spotting wildlife on land and sea. They have been excellent for having in a pocket for a walk, as they are quick to focus and have nice crisp optics. Our children have also found them easy to hold and use. They've had difficulty with holding previous larger binoculars but have had no trouble with using these to see harbour porpoises, seals and even a far-off sea eagle. With these binoculars, there's also none of the bang-bang-bang against your chest so often experienced when wallking with larger binoculars on a strap round your neck. These are small enough to fit in a pocket. Alternatively, the carry pouch has a loop which allows you to attach it to a belt or straps. The narrower field of view has occassionally made it harder to track fast-moving birds in flight but overall, we are still really pleased with these - great value for money. Would get every familiy member a pair if we could.

Olympus Roamer is a great choice for anyone who is looking to get a decent pair of binoculars that is portable, provides good performance and will not burn a hole in their wallet. The Good:Compatible: Great for sporting events. It will not take up a lot of space.Stylish: Silver-style finish gives it a sleek look.UV-Protection: It claims to give you UV Protection. I'm no UV expert, but I'm guessing its a good thing. The Bad:Doesn't provide the advanced features of the deluxe binoculars, but it is still a great bang for your buck.Bottom Line: A great set for those who are looking for their first pair of binoculrs for sporting events, opera shows and other short-medium range close-up viewing. While these are a great for recreational activities, these will probably not going to be an ideal buy for the professionals.

My wife dropped her Minolta Compact EZ 8x21 binoculars once too often so time to replace after at least 14 years - (the bins not my wife). These had been the best little bins I had come across- crystal clear optics - will focus close up (for watching lizards).Research on Amazon came up with these - I decided that I too should have a pair.Very pleased with initial use and a bit of extra power does no harm does it?It was then that I realised that they were not Minolta but Olympus - Doh!Anyway they look the same, feel the same and the performance is similar so no worries. The build quality and materials are not to the same standard and I feel that they may not take as many drops as the Minoltasbut time will tell.I am quite satisfied at the time of this review - if that changes I will update.

These binoculars are truly very light, and very small, but the quality of the image they produce is fantastic, bright and clear and totally sharp. Its a pity that their actual construction is a little poor, the case is obviously plastic, (not in itself a bad thing if the material is a good quality, and it keeps the price and weight down), and the 'made in China' stamp is regrettable, but the worst part is that the sections of the body panels, (what you would call 'shut lines' in a car), just dont line up very well, and this gives them a slightly poor quality feel. Also, as has been said, it would be better if the lanyard fixed to both sides rather than just one.Overall though,I consider them good value for the price, after all, they do what they are sold for very well!

First of all these are a great pair of binoculars that provide a good quality image and are very light. They also have the ability for you to put in individual eye correction. However there are a few points that I feel I should make:- the finish on the plastic, particularly the joints is nowhere near as good as it should be for a brand like Olympus- the lens covers fall off regularly - I can't image it is going to be too long before I lose one or both of them- the neckstrap fits on one side only rather the more conventional dual mounts.Having said all that, I would certainly buy these again as they are really good price for a very good pair of binoculars.Recommended.

These are a tiny, lightweight, little pair of binoculars, great for taking on days out with the kids or watching the wildlife in the garden. I wanted something that I could let the kids use without any worries and these are perfect for that. So small and light for them to use, and good quality optics when the grown-ups get a go! They feel sturdy to use, and are easy to focus, they also have the eyepiece focus ring on the right eyepiece so you can tailor them to suit your eyes perfectly. The field of vision is not huge, but these are cheap and tiny, so I didn't expect more. On the whole, very satisfied.

Good value and just what you would expect from this design and make - solid, lightweight, easy to use. But some drawbacks - I noticed straight away that chromatic aberration (red on one side of an object, blue on the other) was a minor problem. Only noticeable on vertical objects against a plain background, but annoying nonetheless. Also there is glare apparent when you are looking not even close to the sun (within about 20 degrees) - shiny plastic probably the culprit. The lens covers will be lost within days, and the case which accompanies is very flimsy. But, overall, I'd recommend them.

I purchased these for a friend, I opted for Olympus on the basis that they make decent propducts and are a recognised brand and it is always nice to give a branded product as a gift. They are very compact, come with a nice case and are of decent enough quality. However if I was buying these for myself I would have opted for Bushnell, the waterproof type with the more modern compact 'bridge prism' design. Bushnell are better known in North America and whilst thir brand is not that well known and their products might not look as flashy they are in my opinion a better option.

These were the first I had bought and did a lot of online research and took a chance buying online knowing nothing about them. Was extremely pleased with them though. They are very very small and very light so not only easy to carry but easy to hold for lengthy periods of time. Image clarity is very sharp and they are comfortable to use. Excellent magnification and great for wildlife spotting. Best thing about them is you can always have them to hand as they are small enough to fit into any jacket pocket. High quality product which I would definitely recommend.

Its all in the quality of the images, and these really deliver. Viewing across the bay where I live spotting dolphins at 1000m-1500m in sunny conditions the views were jaw dropping! The clarity and detail is stunning for such tiny binoculars. The brightness of the images the magnification seems way beyond what I expected. Comparing them to my much higher magnification/ aperture Celestron binoculars, I think I prefer these. For their lightness and ease of use make them serious everyday carry arounds. I can’t wait to seek out more great views with them!

I am amazed by how powerful these are given their small size. I bought them to take on holiday as I quite like to look the boats at sea whilst on the beach. I have also taken them to the London Wetland Center recently and I got to see so many details on the birds even though they were quite far away. I really like how lightweight these are they don't take up too much of my luggage allowance and more importantly don't feel cumbersome in the hand. They are perfect for my needs and I think the quality is much better than I would expect for the price.

I bought these binoculars for use watching the Olympics, mainly the rowing. They are a great little pair, really compact and so don't take up much room at all in my bag. They are easy to focus and they focus well on both distant and nearby objects. They are really light meaning I was able to hold them to my eyes for long periods without any problems. Most importantly, they allowed me to more clearly see the rowing races when they were a long way off. I would highly recommend these as a small lightweight inexpensive high quality solution.

I bought this item as a gift and so I am only able to give a limited review. The binoculars are quite a contradiction in terms; very small but sturdy, very light but feel substantial. As mentioned in other reviews the lens caps are easily removed and so may be lost if you're not careful. In the short time I was examining them before wrapping them I saw no problems with their operation, the image is very clear and because they are so light they are easy to handle. In short an excellent product, exactly as described.
