This pen is amazing. I like writing on paper and I have too many notebooks that I can never find anything. I have been looking at various smart pens, over the last few months. Reading reviews and watching YouTube demos. I finally settled on the Moleskine Pen + Ellipse Smartpen. The leading smart pens are all pretty similar, so my deciding factor in the end was the writing notebook. I already have a number of standard Moleskine notebooks and they are excellent quality and lovely to write in. My close second choice lost because their notepads are spiral and look cheap. My only concern, with all smart pens was how they would feel. I am quite fussy about pen feel. A pen doesn't have to be expensive,but it does have to feel and write nicely. This pen is heavy, and a little bulky, so it's never going to be my favorite pen to write with but, I hope I will get use to it, and hopefully as this technology takes off, the pens will become smaller and lighter. And the notebooks a little cheaper!It is amazing to watch your writing appear, in real time on your phone or tablet. My writing is fairly neat, so maybe this helped, but when I press the transcribe icon in the app, it trascribes my text into print, without one mistake! I've only had the pen a couple of days, so maybe as I use it more, it won't have a 100% success rate.The app could do with being improved and a little more intuative, but there are plenty of YouTube videos to watch. The app reviews are not good and Moleskine need to take note and improve this if they want to keep up with their competitors.

When my Husband added this to his wish list, I wasn't convinced that it wouldn't be the office equivalent of the 'Sandwich toaster' , but it's brilliant and I'm now green with envy that my husband has one and I don't. (10 months to wait until my birthday :( )The moleskin book is of the normal quality, gorgeous feel and lovely thick paper. Pure luxury. It's only when you inspect the paper very closely that the black magic is revealed. I won't spoil the surprise for you.The pen has an equally luxurious feel. Heavy enough to feel like it's worth the money you've paid for it without being too chunky and cumbersome.My husband is Android, so I can't comment on the Apple connection,but it works really well if perhaps a little bit clunky.I love this as I'm an old fashioned girls and like to write with Pen on to paper, which means that information is lost when the notebook is put to one side, but this will enable you to share your notes with your team mates digitally or use the OCR to store information.I haven't tried others so can't offer you a comparison, but, this one is lovely!

Excellent purchase. Charge the pen for at least half an hour before your first use it with the notebook. Connecting to the app via Bluetooth is super easy, and then all you need to do is start writing! I use the editing tool on the app to highlight certain words and colour code my notes. The pen cap also fits around the hardcover securely so you don't lose it, I think other reviewers that have had issue with this have attempted to hook the pen over the top, however if you follow the picture on the box you'll see it slides in easily on the side of the hardcover, and holds really well. Sometimes if you start writing from 'power off' it misses the first letter or so, but you can just trace back over it and it'll appear.My writing isn't incredibly neat and the text transcription mode manages to interrupt about 90% of it. Overall, top product!

I really love this gadget; it’s made my note taking so much simpler & easy to track. The text recognition is good, and the pen handles well. The notebooks are a little pricey, but who doesn’t love writing in a moleskine notebook?
