I'd been using a pair of Minox 8x42 BLs for some years mainly for bird watching. Their construction and optical performance were outstanding relative to cost so when the time came to upgrade I was already confident of the Minox brand. However I wanted a pair with higher magnification but before I purchased I did a side by side comparisons [at Bird Fair] with all the leading makes. The upshot was I found only a smidgen of difference in optical quality between the HGs and the very best -but the HGs sold at less than half the price.The HGs are made in Germany and are clearly well made. They are light for a 10x with a comfortable well balanced feel comparable with the very best.
