First of all well done Hobbies who supplied them. The neck-strap was missing from the box but they delivered one the next day - five star treatment. I am an amateur observer but I need some good binoculars for doing bird surveys for the local nature reserve and the local wildlife trust. The binoculars themselves arrived in perfect condition. I checked them for collimation and I have spent a week testing them in the field and at night. I have six pairs of binoculars and these are by far the best.Pros:They are very strongly built and waterproof. They are pin-sharp across 85% of the view. The colours are completely natural. They are exceptionally good in low light. They are good for both land andastronomical observations and nature surveys. There is negligible chromatic aberration. There is a wide field of view. You get a strong case and a very good professional neck-strap.They are good value for money. I got mine for £300 they are now going for over £400. Well done Hobbies and Amazon.30 year warranty.Cons:None for the money. As an example of how good these binoculars are; I observed a crow from across a field just before sunset. I could see the purple-blue sheen that many crows have. I have only ever seen this close up with the naked eye. None of my other bins can do this. After sunset, and in the twilight, I was able to pick out the black eyes, on the black head of a blackbird.I compared these binoculars with a pair of Helios 7x50 porros that I usually use for Astronomy but during the full daylight I could see very little difference. In low light and at night the Minox were in their element. I could not observe any chromatic aberration around the Moon. The twin stars of Epsilon Lyra were pin sharp. I could easily pick out the Orion Nebula and the stars of the Trapezium which are "embedded" within. We have very light polluted skies where we live and I was surprised at how well I could see the nebula.I cannot recommend these binoculars more highly; to see an improvement you would need to buy top of the range Minox, Zeiss, Leica, Nikon and Swarovsky etc. You would have to pay well over a £1, 000 for bins which are marginally better.I am not a professional observer, so the money for my equipment to do bird surveys etc. comes out of my pocket, therefore value for money is essential. If you want formidable optical quality for not too high a price then go for these. They are excellent for both land and astronomical observations.
