The Medisana HG 100 Thermo-Hygrometer is almost perfect, but there are a couple of little things that could be improved on it.It comes in a glossy white box with a load of blurb on every side, and inside the box you find the unit itself which comes with a AAA battery already in it (but wrapped in plastic so the unit is not active when you receive it) and the usual bits of paper for instructions in many different languages and so on.The unit is not exactly intuitive so you do need to read the instructions to get it set up properly.Once you have it set up and either stuck on a metal surface with the magnet on the back, or propped up somewhere on the fold out foot, you soon come to see the good points and how it could be improved. The display has a decent viewing angle, and in the default state it contains four pieces of information:The temperature (top right)Humidity (bottom right)The time (bottom left)A rather pointless smiley or frowning face (top left)I say the face is pointless because it is set in an arbitrary way so that it smiles when the temperature is between 18C and 25C AND the humidity is between 40% and 65%. When either the temperature OR the humidity is outside those ranges the face shows a frown. There is no way to adjust the range. That is what it does and you can't change it. It might seem okay but I can assure you that I did not have a smiley face to match the display when it was 24C and the humidity was about 60%ish in my bedroom on some of those hot nights this summer. Frankly having used the device for about a month now I consider the smiley/frowning face to be a waste of space on the display. It would be better without it and the other items re-arranged to give the best balance between them to make them all as easy to view as possible. There is a button for showing the minimum and maximum temperature/humidity for the day. I have only used that a couple of times. But I guess it does not do any harm to have it.There is an alarm you can set which works, but is a bit fiddly to set up and the alarm sound itself is a bit on the shrill side so I have only used it the once. Those are just minor gripes though. For what you actually want a device like this for - for a quick glance at the temperature, humidity, and time, it is fine and well worth four stars. Just those little tweaks would make it worth the full five.

This gadget has a big name for a small, desktop (or fridge mounted) device with a digital clock (with alarm function) thermometer and humidity sensor. As a small bonus it also has smiley face when the temperature is between 18 and 25C, and the humidity is 40-65%. Otherwise it has an unhappy face. It also remembers the highest and lowest temperature reading. The figures are large and clear, and readable from across a normal room. And that is about it. For the price it’s pretty uninspiring, to be honest. To reset the memory, for example, you have to take the battery out, which is a bit basic as you would also then have to set up the time again. There are copious instructions, which are largely unnecessary – including a list of hazards associated with the standard AAA battery that it comes with. Apparently it is a bad idea to eat a battery, for example. When it comes to accuracy it’s hard to say, but comparing it to a similar device it seems to display a temperature reading that is about 3C higher and a humidity about 4% lower. Which is correct? I have no idea but I have never thought my existing device was significantly wrong. There is a small magnet to attach It to a fridge, or another metal object, and a built-in stand for a desk or shelf. However, this puts the device at an angle that makes it impossible to read if you put it on a shelf higher than your eye level, so again this really is for a desktop. In short, its small, clear, and not unattractive – but given the myriad of digital weather sensor and room gauges you can get these days, often for rather less than this, the Medisana is nothing to get excited about. That said, it does everything it says it will do, so it’s hard to be over-critical, but four stars is the most I can give it.

The Medisana HG 100 Hygrometer is a right sized White Plastic Clock that is also a Thermometer (Current and High / Low), Hygrometer and Alarm Clock. The white plastic case has a little kick stand for resting on a desk and a small magnet to stick it to your fridge. Its powered by a single AAA battery - and the one in the box does work its just shrink-wrapped in plastic; remove the plastic and plug it back in. When plugged in you need to hold the mode button to set the clock (and format 24/12 hrs.) It ran Metric out of the box; if you want Fahrenheit there is a hole to stick a pin in and switch it to Fahrenheit. The unit also has a preprogrammed comfort measurement based on the humidity and temperature which is displayed back through a degree smily face - happy through sad.Its nice to have a thermometer at work to settle arguments over the air conditioning. The Medisana unit is a nice size and the white plastic and darker screen give it a nice overall look. The size is right; it is compact enough but the screen has larger numbers on it so its easy to read (and being a grey / green lcd its clear too.) The screen doesn't have any kind of backlight though so you need some light to see it. I had a another device my desk before that didn't have as clear as screen; and sadly ate batteries 3 at a time. The Medisana is more compact and gives the same features. It looks just fine on my desk; or attached to a reading lamp like the photo below.

I found Medisana HG 100 Hygrometer quite interesting as I really have no particular idea what the temperature and humidity at home is like. By seeing the digital feedback and the display as to what it truthfully is, I consider to be very helpful. I like the alarm facility which i will be using in the morning, that is a nice added bonus i thought. I will also be taking the device to my place of work, we have air conditioning at work, as to what that is really like at work is anyone's guess, from day to day and the arguments in the office, its a constant topic of discussion about what temperature and humidity is really like, this hygrometer will be a point of reference. It will be interesting to see what the results are. If considering I think this is a useful hydrometer, for home or the office.

This a great thermometer and hygrometer. It has a nice big display and a face that indicates when the humidity is high or low. It displays the time as well. The only issue for me was if you position the device low down or high up in relation to your eye level, you can't see the display properly. It appears to be accurate compared to the other devices that I use as well.

It comes with a new battery with it. I had to read the instructions to work out how to set the time. It was easy to do that.It tells you the time, room temperature and humidity. It also has an alarm. It has a stand so you can lean it on its side. Finally it has a magnetic back to you can put it on fridge or radiator.
