I've used Marumi for filters for a good few years now (though I try other makers too)The DHG (digital high grade) series is multicoated and available in lens protect, UV and CPL as well as others. All feature a low profile size, lots of coatings to help reduce ghosting and internal reflections, a satin painted filter ring again helps reduce reflections, plus black ink on the outer edge of the glass filter. The "super" v the normal DHG is an additional coat added to the filter surface which helps repel grease, dirt and water/oil and it does seem to help here. V the normal filters the DHG is slimmer, if size isn't an issue (for vignetting with wide angle lenses)there isn't a lot of difference v the normal multi coated Marumi's (they are quite good too) a few extra coatings on the DHG range.I've used both the normal DHG and Super. If you're outdoors a lot and can get the front element dirty at times the "super" is worth looking at, for most normal uses then the standard DHG is the one to go for. I've used these filters even on older film lenses (note they're just fine on film cameras too) and they do help tame reflections and flare, and in some cases can improve older lenses when used on digital bodies. The UV filter is often used as a "lens protector" by many nothing wrong in that, but there are only real advantages if you are using film for the UV aspect. It won't make any difference to digital capture (film can benefit from a UV filter at times)Marumi hit the spot for me as they make "good quality" filters, and the prices are not unreasonable either. A few brands out there are a bit OTT price wise, on the other hand you don't really want to use the ultra cheap makers either as they can cause issues with flare and hurt image quality. Recommended from me after years of use I've been very pleased with the quality of these filters.

This is an outstanding product and I would highly recommend Marumi filters over Hoya, Tiffen, B+W, etc, mainly because I’ve found that the quality is indistinguishable but the price is lower because Marumi is not as well known. If you research the company, you’ll find that Marumi has a rich tradition of designing and manufacturing world class filters all inside Nagano, Japan since 1952.My experience with Hoya is positive but you’ll note that some of their non “pro” filters are not made in Japan to the same exacting standards as Marumi. The pro stuff is but that’s priced accordingly. In my experience,it’s definitely worth avoiding the cheapest filters and going for quality which does not degrade image quality. You certainly get exacting standards with Marumi without spending the better part of change you could reserve for a new lens!

This is a fantastic filter, optically better (according to some tests - Google "UV filter test") than much more expensive offerings from the better-known brands like Hoya or B+W. Hoya Pro-1 filters are good optically but impossible to keep smear-free, B+W coatings are easy-clean but the brass mount makes the filter rather heavy. The Marumi has even better smear resistance than the B+W and a mount that's thin and light much like the Hoya. Moreover it has superb coatings, so good it's hard to see that it's there - and all this for a fraction of the price of the others.A real bargain that I can recommend without reservation.

A good quality filter that works well and performs well. I cannot say it is better than such as filter as I do not have the testing equipment nor time to find out but it performs very well and I would purchase another if required.

Slim line protective filter arrived promptly and seems to be of good quality. I use it on a 24-105 L series Canon lens and am happy with it so far.
