I've recently started a new project at work that involves working nights. During the night I may be stood down for up to two hours and that would be a great time to catch up on some sleep. As the only option is a bumpy concrete floor I was looking for something to make the rest periods more comfortable. I came across this self-inflating mat at less than £15 and ordered one. I've been very satisfied with the mat: it has exceeded my expectations for the budget price.I do a lot of camping and generally use inflatable mats as they are comfortable, well insulated and lightweight. This self-inflator is very comfortable, very warm but fairly bulky. I wouldn't use it for a backpacking trip: it's simply too heavy (around 1kg)and takes up too much space when stored. But for my current situation it's excellent. The 3cm pad is very supportive and holds me off the ground. It's also very good at keeping me warm. Although it is branded as Lichfield, the label attached states that it is manufactured by Vango, a company I trust. The quality seems very good for the price. The material appears durable and has handled being used on concrete floors with no issues. As I am 1.88m tall and 105kg, I was concerned about the pad being able to take my bulk, but it has coped really well. As a side-sleeper I have found the mat plenty wide enough, but back-sleepers will probably find there's not enough width for their arms.Inflation is simple: I open the valve and leave it for ten minutes then add two or three breaths to fill it completely. Deflation needs a little effort: the pad is thick and the material is rugged, so rolling it up takes both hands and a bit of welly. The mat comes with a repair kit, 2 elasticated bands to keep the stored mat rolled tight and a generously sized storage sack.Overall I have been really impressed with this mat, especially for the price paid.

Nice product but I paid £15.97 each plus delivery for 2 of these just a couple of days ago and now I see they are £13.22 ea, so not a great start. Yes, a good product with a nice holding bag and closing tie string but my one criticism would be this. They could be 5 - 10cm wider. I'm not a huge man but neither am I a squirt. 217 lbs to be precise and these mats are barely the width of my shoulders when I lie flat on my back. Therefore, for my wife and myself, we would really need 3 of these mats laid out flat under our sleeping bags in out tent to avoid rolling onto the cold ground sheet. Don't suppose I get a discount on an order for a third one do I ?Secondly, not sure what the packers were thinking in Amazon but both of these mats came in separate cardboard boxes with lashings of packing and bubble wrap and each box was actually capable of taking 3 of you mats with room to spare. What a waste of packing. Otherwise, apart from the above I'm happy. Tried them out and they seem comfy but pity about the width narrowness as the length is just fine.

Took this one to reading festival and bare in mind of the sort of living conditions I was camping in, I did manage to get some good nights sleep on this mat! I was a bit indecisive as to whether to buy it as I don't usually go camping and didn't know if I could carry it with all my other belongings but I would recommend it as it does come with its own bag so it was easy to carry and there are straps to keep it compressed when rolled which helped. Also, I'm very pleased by the quality, especially considering that the mat did get a bit of a beating that weekend. Surprising, it managed to survive for the duration of the weekend with no hole or tear to be found and proves to be indestructible thus far. Will definitely be using it again !

I leave this review based on sleeping on the mat for a full week at this year's Leeds festival. It has done the job and helps to give a more comfortable nights sleep outdoors. I found it easy to fully inflate with a few mouth blows in to the valve and when it came to packing up I was really surprised how easy it was to let the air out whilst rolling up for packing. The only reason I wouldn't give five starts is because I found the width of the mat too narrow. Making it a bit wider would give so much more comfort especially if having to sleep on gradients where I could find sliding off could become a real issue. The delivery was very fast and I think the mat is very reasonably priced.

"Self inflating" is a little optimistic. Don't expect this to spring up fully inflated in any reasonable timescale. It might self inflate if left long enough but I'm not that patient so I blow into the valve to inflate it myself.Once you do have it inflated it's actually surprisingly comfortable, I used it on top of a camp bed and it made the bed feel much softer. It also packs up quite tightly, you open the valve and roll it up which squeezes the air out. Then you close the valve and the air stays out so you have a compact rolled up mat with no air in. The bag it comes with is large enough to just chuck the mat into, there's no annoying squeezing it in like with a sleeping bag.

Caught a couple of poor reviews but as the mum of a family of non-campers I was forced to make some sort of purchase for my sons camping trip and cheap and cheerful was what I needed. Well it survived the weekend, not being a camper and a lack of instructions made it difficult for me to figure out how to inflate it and deflate it .. and then relay those instructions to me son. I have doubts as to whether it actually got inflated on the camping trip but it did the job. Being cold was his main complaint rather than being uncomfortable so he just got up and put all his clothes on. Think this would be fine for light / occasional use

After destroying my untenth inflatable mattress, i decided that self inflating mats might be the way forward. A friend had recently purchased some and thought they were great. Whilst they are very slim they are still remarkably comfortable. I would say that they are not very wide at all, so if you are on the larger side, you may find that you arent always lying on them. I have read a review somewhere that to make them even more comfortable, place some camping mats underneath. I havent done this yet, but i might do after this weekend, when i am camping for 3 nights. The best part is how little room they take up when folded away.

Really for the price this is excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality too.I'd agree that the width of the mat is a touch narrow but it is still comfortable. Length is good and thickness also. The mat does need an extra puff of air into the mat but really that's not such a big deal.Rolls neatly and compactly and comes with 2 straps to hold the ends of the mat compacted and a bag for the whole mat to go into.Pleased for purchasing this as it is my first self inflating one. My brother who is more familiar with camping gear is impressed too with the price and condition.A Good buy.

Did as the instructions advised, rolled out & left for 48 hrs before I went away. Gave it a few puffs of air once it had inflated then sealed it. Deflated & rolled back up, fitted in carry sack no problem. Whilst away, rolled out, added a few puffs of air & sealed - 5 nights & no need to re-inflate, unlike previous purchased. Had a few really cold nights but this made a huge difference no cold damp air coming through from the ground to me. Very comfy, I was worried about camping as I occasionally have back problems & use a Tempur mattress at home. No sore back in the morning. Fantastic.

This mat is honestly the most comfortable thing to sleep on whilst camping. Me and my so went camping in a wooden pod in the peak district and I had this to sleep on and my boyfriend had a normal foam one. His felt like he was just sleeping on the floor! This was so comfortable, I didn't even get back ache, which I usually do. I would definitely recommend this product. The only issue I had which was a fault of my own, is that I thought that it inflated itself, but you have to inflate it yourself. It doesn't take much effort however so it wasn't a problem.Overall an excellent product!

Very easy to use when away. I did find, like other users, that they do not fully self-inflate. In fact, my two barely got anything in them, but as they're thin, they were easy to blow up manually. This is why they lose a star. They are also easy to pack away, rolling them up towards the valve gets all the air out, and I can confirm that they will go back in their original storage bags (even if your sleeping bag and tent won't!)They were comfortable to lie on, and I will use them next time I go away, it's better than taking a large airbed/mattress with you.

Surprisingly comfortable, given it is just 30 mm thick. I tested it on a solid stone floor, and it still gave support. Inflates naturally upon releasing the valve, albeit slowly, and requires a little top up - a lungful of air usually does the trick. Tighten the valve and it stays completely inflated (all normal airmattresses I have slowly deflate during the night. Narrower and longer than I would have suited, but it's not a dealbreaker. A lot easier to deflate/roll up than I had anticipated and rolls up to quite a compact size.

Purchased two of these for a recent holiday where hotel reviews said there were no mattresses on sun loungers. Really impressed they rolled up well to fit in suitcase and under 1kg so not too much impact on luggage allowance. They did the job perfectly as the loungers would have been very uncomfortable to lie on. Other guests were envious of us. I posted my purchase on the hotel face book page and I think sales must have increased as many commented that they were going to order one for themselves.

I bought this last week and tested it out at Bestival over the weekend. The campsite ground was very uneven and rocky. Whilst you could still feel the basic shape of the rocks, this mat prevented them from being a nuisance. It's much more comfortable than previous normal roll mats I have tried and it rolls up smaller than the standard ones too which is always a plus when only carrying a rucksack. Providing you don't fidget and move about a lot during the night, this one is a decent buy.

I brought it for a light-weight camping trip that I am planning. It seems to be a good quality product, it self inflates and was quite comfortable on a quick 15 minutes test. But I am not sure how it will perform on a 2 week trip. The mattress comes in a nice bag and it seemed to be easy to roll it up and get it back in the bag. My only worry is that it looks like it could be easy to puncture the mattress. A repair kit is included which may confirm that you have to be careful.
