Leap Frog have done it again! My Talking LapPup "Scout" is one little cutie that is of great educational value and fun, too! It's suitable for children from 6 months old right through to 24 months, so Pup can start with just lights and sound and grow with your child as they develop and improve their fine motor skills and gain a better understanding of the English language by responding to Scout's questions.Kids are curious creatures and and learn (without knowing it) through play with the help of touch and sound. They look with their hands (and mouths!) which is why this product is good. With 'My Talking LapPup' there are over 40 learning activities consisting of popular songs like ABC and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, all sung and spoken in a nice English speaking voice. When Pup talks his mouth/nose lights up to give the impression that he is really talking, which I loved. He asks questions about colours, shapes, opposites, numbers and counting, and he doesn't say "no, try again", when the wrong button is pressed. Instead kids are rewarded with positive speech, exciting sounds and flashing lights through repetitive, positive reinforcement. .My Talking LapPup is really a lovely toy and made from durable plastic so it should be pretty slobber proof too. The chatty pup also comes with additional built in features like a bone you can move to make a noise and a barrel filled with balls that can be spun for sight and sound stimulation. What's more, the top half of the Pup (his head) can be folded down and shut, so when its opened again, Scout plays Peek-a-boo! Also has a carry handle on the side so when your child can manage to grip things when older, Pup can be picked up and carried about all over the place.Thoroughly recommended and it comes ready to use straight from the box! A good choice for a gift, because it's fun and covers all the core learning skills a child needs to develop well in during these early years in their life.

My daughter received the Leapfrog Lap Pup for her 1st birthday, as she LOVES buttons and is always trying to play with Mummy's laptop this gift was perfect. The Lap Pup has a very friendly happy face which lights up as during play. Opening and closes the lid initiates a game of peek-a -boo which my daughter loves. The on off button is quite small and we tend to leave it on so our little one can activate the toy herself whenever she chooses- she knows then she simply has to open the lid in order to play.Along the bottom of the Lap Pup is a rattling spinner and there are 5 buttons, these are a good size and my daughter finds them very easy to press. Each button is a different colour and they have either symbols or numbers on them designed to help teach colours, numbers and shapes. There is also a moveable bone on slider on the right hand side and you are asked - "Can you move my bone up to my paw?" and once completed "Thank You". My daughter loves to do this. The songs and sound effects are brilliant and even after lots of play they are not in the least bit irritating unlike some toys.My daughter absolutely loves her Lap Pup and will quite happily sit for quite some time pressing buttons and moving his bone up to his paw.My daughter finds it very easy to pick up and move her Lap Pup as although it is sturdy it is still fairly lightweight. The Lap Pup is extremely well designed and well made and can easily stand up to the rough play of small children, my daughter has dropped it quite a few times and there is not a single mark.I cannot recommend the Leapfrog Lap Pup highly enough it is a great toy, that my daughter loves to play with and there is so much for her to do.

The age guidance says 6-24 months, which is fine, but certainly at this stage (6 months) my son doesn't benefit from it fully, because he's requested to press particular numbers, colours and shapes. It does also say the numbers, colours and shapes displayed on the buttons, with Scout's mouth flashing as he 'speaks'.It is stimulating for him; it sings, flashes and has a variety of things for him to do - he can press buttons, open and close the lid, spin the ball tunnel and slide the bone on the side. I also really like that the lid (Scout's head) can be opened to different levels; one suits tummy time perfectly for a little boy who HATES tummy time, whilst the other is great for him when he's on my lap.The colours are also bright and attractive, which always provides a smile. From a mummy's point of view, I like that there are two different volumes to use the toy within. It is also easy to close up and is then small and light enough to be carried around in my changing bag, or using the handle, can be attached to the pram so that my little one can play with it as we're out and about. I like that developmentally he can grow into the toy by responding to questions, repeating colours, shapes and numbers and singing along. Another major plus for me is the fact that during the alphabet song, they have the British pronunciation of z, rather than the American.

This is great for your toddlers, with a recommended age range of 6 months to 24 months. A handy size for the car. Takes up a handful of space if you are going away. Not a full on 20 minute engrossing toy but probably more for a good 8-10 minutes at a time. There are five buttons: a round blue music note, a yellow star, a square green 1, a triangular orange 2, and a red heart 3. Press the music note and the dog mouth lights up and sings the abc song all the way through. If you press it again it sings a different song. Press the star and the puppy sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. If you press it again it just says yellow star. Apart from the musical 5 buttons there is also a tumbler with balls in at the bottom, and a cranky dog bone lever on the side. You can also play the classic peek-a-boo, with each lift of the lid.If you then leave it alone for 10 seconds it may pipe up "can you find the number 2?"There is an off switch, next to a quieter setting, followed by a full on noisy setting. Parents will probably not notice the different level of noise and just get annoyed with the repetitive songs, but toddlers love repetition as this is how they learn. And with their own LapPup they can pretend to be Mummy or Daddy working on their own!Sure to be an instant hit.

This is a great little electronic toy that my son loves. It is very lightweight with a small handle which is easy to grasp. My six month old can lift the toy easily and as it is not as complex as some Leapfrog toys he is able to operate it easily. The toy itself folds in half which makes it small for easy storage and comes with batteries already installed so you don't need to worry about that side of things. There are several buttons which your little one can press for sound and light as well as a small barrel filled with balls to roll. The buttons light up as does the mouth of the 'pup' to make it look like it is doing the talking. The whole thing is brightly coloured and eye catching and has nice rounded edges in case there are any bangs when it is being waved about.I'm not sure that this will be as popular with my son when he is a few more months old, but currently it is a favourite and keeps him occupied for small chunks of time.

The look on a 3 month baby's face when she saw this said it all - perfection! Yes, she was a little young to actually play with it (should be from 6 months) but even looking at it and having the buttons pressed on her behalf had her in such joy. Tremendous. It fits perfectly into a child's development at the recommended age, i.e. 6 to 24 months. The bright colours, facial features, sound, tactile responsiveness - Leapfrog are clearly child development experts, and it shows.I'd get it at the younger end of that age, i.e. 6 months, and it will get continued and frequent use until 2 years of age. It's tough and should last that long!It opens like a laptop, and has plenty to control, great to allow very young children to feel they have their own (when the adults and older children spend so much time on tablets and laptops...)It's very portable, with a tough handle, making it good for car journeys.

There's not a whole lot here to distinguish the Leapfrog `My talking lappup' from the overabundance of similar talking toddler `gadgets' out there (e.g. all the talking baby 'mobile phones'). 5 instructive talking/illuminating buttons and a rattly thing. It's chief virtues are the price and portability (the latter making it perfect as an in-car distraction... although given the limits of what's on offer I'm guessing it'll probably have a low boredom threshold). ***UPDATE: A few weeks later and this is still very much in favour with the little man, particularly the option to play 'Twinkle Twikle Little Star' again and again and again and again. Also, becuase the dog's animated face lights up,it's pretty handy for car journeys in the dark... so a better boredom threshold than I'd first thought might be the case***

I bought this toy for my nephew; it came from Amazon, with some other items which i bought. All of them in the same box. They were all fine but i can't say they were wrapped perfectly. Hopefully, none of it broke. There is a funny story about this leap frog. I bought it for my nephew who is 6 months old and who lives abroad. But once i gave it to his mum, she started laughing because; i got the same toy 4 years ago for her daughter. Therefore, she is having two of it now. She likes it and i love it because it is very stimulating for the babies and helps them become alert to colors, sound, shapes, as well as interact with it.My sister told me, that she loves my consistency in my choices,as i got the same toy within a 4 years gap. Resembling a young child's 'laptop,' the functions of this toy are extremely simple and about as traditional as they come for a youngster of the recommended age group (6 to 24 months). That said, the options follow what is probably a tried and tested arrangement for the learning child. There are a host of similar toys on the market that provide a similar educational presentation, but few offer such a portability and compactness for this price. This well made product provides a plethora of songs and interactive learning activities to keep your child occupied, together with an introduction to learning the basics of the alphabet, counting, shapes and colours etc.. You can't really go wrong with this.Highly recommended.

I gave this to my 8-month old son and he enjoys playing with it. He likes opening and closing the lid, and it responds to that; he also seems to enjoy its flashing lights and noises when the buttons are pressed. He finds spinning its roller ball fun. He doesn't yet have the coordination to press individual buttons but as he gets older I'm sure he'll get more out of pressing individual buttons to get different responses from it and to help him recognise shapes, numbers and colours. Although a 6-month old could get some pleasure from it, as the blurb suggests, I think it's better suited to a slightly older baby with more developed coordination. He also was given

Another great little toy from Leapfrog that is much loved by my little one. This deceptively simple Lappup toy engages my child for long periods at a time - especially during car journeys. Lift the head of the toy and the cheerful Scout puppy greats you and invites you to press the buttons and play. The buttons are different colours, shapes and are numbered and there are a number of songs that play to identify the buttons pressed. The clam shell design of the toy means that when the lid (puppy head is closed), the toy turns off or plays peekaboo. This is a small and compact toy, with plenty to keep a one year old with busy fingers well occupied.

Oh my - what a success. All of a sudden the ipad is so much less attractive.Only downside is the howl of rage when this is removed from her highnesses hands.A great size for a small child and the ability to open and shut it seems to make it twice as attractive. Also you could easily stuff this into a changing bag or the bottom of the pram if you are out and about. It's not that complicated either so Loa manages to control it rather than just randomly pushing buttons. There are voices, music, buttons and flashing lightsOh and it came with batteries as well
