I bought this chain specifically for the problem of bad bike stands that only fit a wheel and leave you nothing to secure your bike to - the thief's best friend. These are the ones designed to fit your wheel in which means unless you have a childs or folding bike wheel, you cannot get a u lock to fit the stand frame, your wheel and the bike frame. So I use 2 locks - this is **just** enough to squeeze through and let me secure the frame to the stand from the rear wheel. Then I use my gold rated main lock to lock the rear wheel to the frame so nobody can cycle off if they do snip through this (which at 7mm, they can with good bolt cutters). It WONT save your bike on its own, but its good for either a short stop,

Brilliant all around lock. Excellent balance between security and not being overly cumbersome to transport around the city. Folds/scrunches(?) nicely to fit in any backpack, and fits around aero frames and deep section wheels. The key guarantee is reassuring, as well as the $500 security guarantee. Any bike beyond that value I'd bump up to a more secure/beefy Kryptonite lock, unless you're in close proximity at a Tim Hortons/Starbucks. Mechanism is very sold and fluid, I'd recommend dropping a small amount of chain oil into the lock every so often to ensure smooth operating of the tumblers. Keys are also nice and compact, and don't add much bulk to your car/house keys,

I bought a couple of these on sale and I must say I am impressed by the quality for the price. It weighs 2.75 lb (1.25 kg) which I would call mid-weight for a good bike lock. The chain is a bit too short to lock around your waist at 34", but that might be an option for some slimmer riders. That 34" length is also going to limit how you lock your bike to larger items like poles, but overall pretty flexible. With well-hardened 7mm links, it's going to take a 3 ft bolt cutter to snap, so lock up high if you can - this makes it difficult for a thief to brace cutters on the ground.Bike security is always a trade-off between price/weight and effectiveness, but I think this is a good compromise.

This bike lock is truly amazing. This is my first Kryptonite Bike Lock and it has definitely exceeded my expectations.The build quality is exceptional with an all round heavy feel for added durability and strength.I came from using U/D locks to this heavy chain metal lock which is very convenient when travelling short distances as I can just wrap it around my bike frame. The smooth yet effective fabric around the chain allows protection towards the frame and no scuffs or scratches will occur.Overall this bike lock is a good 10/10 from me and I especially like the three colours available but this red is too good.Thanks Kryptonite , will definitely be buying from them again !

The weight of the chain is good for pedal bicycles. You will need to keep it bagged and steady.I am motorcycler. I had to return the chain because it looked too thin at 7mm thickness on my motorcycle. Upgraded to 10mm thickness evo series 4 1090.Just be careful with the tamper proof locking mechanism and you will be fine. Make sure you have put the key in all the way before turning. Apply some grease inside the barrel and mechanism and it will last a long time.I am sure this is a good product with silver rating just that I needed a gold rating chain lock. Nothing is unbreakable locks are deterants.

OK lock for my short-term parking use. Enough of a deterrent for the casual thief.These lock mechanisms get a bit rough after time and you would be advised to get Abus Lock Lubicant as WD40 will further gum it up over time attracting dust and crud...I lube it at least once a month. I think without doing that, it is not the easiest to open or close, judging by the way it gets before lube time.Has a limited theft warranty guarantee if you send it in, though I'm sure there will be small print exclusions.Wear it round my neck like a proper bike monkey.Colour - bike monkey RED

It’s a quality product, Feels very robust and the covering on the chain is good, but I was a little caught out with the length.I measured the length I needed, and this appeared just long enough. The measure of length is correct from end to end, but because the chain attaches to the lock in the middle at a hard right angle , not at the end, you lose an inch or more ... unfortunately that meant the lock was just a fraction too short for my original use and I needed to buy an alternative.The quality of the lock is such, that I still kept it and intend to use it elsewhere.

I really like this chain - my fiance laughed at it, and assumed there would be a weak spot at the plastic covered areas where the chain hooks into the lock mechanism. There isn't - it is a solid chain all the way around...so it has a little weight to it, but nothing you notice when riding. It wraps perfectly around the seat stem and can be secured by locking it under the top bar of the bike. It lost a star because the lock does tend to stick on a regular basis - as in every time, making it difficult to unlock.

Rated as a bronze. I use it in conjunction with a squire compact eiger d lock. The chain goes on the front of the frame to secure the front wheel as well. Because this combination is relatively light it means it is more useable. Bosnian bill demonstrated the lock is very good so it is the chain which will be attacked therefore keep it well off the ground to defeat bolt cutters. This chain is bad news for thieves because although it is defeatable the frame will also be damaged making the theft pointless.

Great lock that is fit for purpose. I use to it to secure my bicycle commuting to work. The lock is long enough to fit around the frame of my bike and the rear wheel which has a 40mm depth rim 700c tyres. I noticed some reviews mentioned problems with the keyhole or rust. Don't force the lock; be gentle with it and keep the keyhole facing towards the ground so that if it rains it's not exposed and this will prevent any rust. I have no issues with this lock. It's very versatile and robust.

Great lock, versatile length, good lock mechanism. I lock my bike up on a rack at work, the red colour says LOCKED UP! Can be finicky to lock, but just make sure you insert your key in the key-way fully!UPDATE, 11/6,Go to a locksmith, ask for graphite powder. Maybe 4 bucks. Go outside(it's powdered pencil lead) and squirt this stuff in the key-way(where the key fits into the lock) generously. tap out the excess, you will love the action of this lock after that, upgraded to 5 stars!

This lock is very good. Not an "overnight" lock but good for a few hours. It makes thieves move on to the next bike with the cheap cable lock. Unfortunately a determined thief can still defeat it but not as easily as with something less sturdy. The key/lock mechanism is smooth and easy to use. The lock length is good and you can lock two bikes up by the frame no problem. Too short to do the wheels and frame though. Overall very happy with the lock.

Just about fits through the back wheel of my Xiaomi 360 scooter, you have to hold the metal end and angle it a certain way and pull/twist it from the other side like a cork screw. The only problem I had with it was some times they twist part inside the lock gets messed up and jammed if the key isn't taken out when locking up the scooter so you have to keep twisting the key align the things inside the lock again to get it back to normal.

I needed a chain lock to secure my hanging bike to a railing that we have in my apartment building's "bike parking" area, and this looked like it would be a good length and secure and so far it hasn't disappointed! I like the length because it fits snug around my bike and the large railing I need to secure it to with no gaps. When I lock this up at home or overnight I use this in addition to a U-lock and it works well for me.

I'm using this not for a bike but to securely lock my front deck patio furniture in place! HA! The color is described as grey, but I like to think it's more like an adorable periwinkle color that surprisingly softens the "hardness" of such a heavy duty lock. I highly recommend it and will look to buy more of this product, maybe in a longer length, if available! Thanks for the great delivery time, too!
