I have had this lock for roughly 3 weeks now and it seems like a pretty formidable bike lock. I purchased it as I had a £300 cycle stolen from a bike rack at a station so I thought I would buy a lock that would give the thief something to think about. My only complaint is about the functionality of the lock it self it is extremely fiddly to get the padlock on the chain links (but that is being a bit fussy). Also I have looked on the Kryptonite site and they have only rated this lock a 6 (on their anti-theft scale) which doesn't fill me with confidence. Last gripe is that it is so very heavy (but again it would be it's made of treated steel)After my bike was stolen I received advice for the local Police.

I use the Kryptonite KyrptoChain & Padlock to secure my cycle. After having my previous cycle stolen after 2 locks were cut through. I decided that I needed something pretty robust to secure through the frame & one of the wheels. This is a heafty chain with a protective sleeve which prevents scratches to my cycle. The Lock is a secure turn anti-force padlock. It visually gives the message for any thief to pass on stealing my bike. I combine it with a gold sold secure D Lock and an additional cable. So it would make it very difficult for any would-be crook to get my bike easily.My only downside to this is the short length, so not ideal as the main lock,

I bought this chain as an extra protection for my bike and as an additional lock securing it even more. I'm overall very satisfied, but the chain is, however, a bit unhandy to lock because of its weight. But don't panic or regret buying it. Give yourself a few weeks and you will get a routine locking it.I very much recommend buying this chain lock - especially if you have a smaller bike you want to secure when your on the run.

Very happy with the lock for this price range. Happy to lock up my £400 Carrera and go into the shops no problem. Would also use wheel locks for extra protection if in a dodgy place. Great for short to medium stops. Rating is 5/10 on the package for security level. Happy with that for Tesco stops etc. Invest more for long stays.

Great lockUse it as a secondary lock to my Kryptonite D lockJust the right length, long enough to go through the frame, wheel and round a hefty pole.Chain locks are heavy, so the longer you get, so the heavier they get too.This ones just rightNo rain cover over the key hole unfortunatelyReally happy with my purchase!:)

Don't let the price of this chain lock fool you. Kryptonite are known for there quality locks and this is no different. The only slight negative i have is that it's a little heavy. But it is a steel chain so it's to be expected. Tweeks cycles = quality service ?

I still have my bike and no attempts to steal it seem to have been made, so I can't really judge it. but if you want to get bike insurance from evanscycles, look elsewhere this chain is not acceptable.

good hardy lock, good to take mostly everywhere, only for commuting, bit heavy if ur not commuting and going on a decent ride. bit too short to go round the waist and some lampposts
