This is my second Cold Steel blade (recon 1). The functionality of these knives and the quality they are made with are amazing. The knife is just the right size, handle and blade. The grip on the handle is not as rough as the recon 1 but still has a nice grip unlike the code 4. It's a great edc in my opinion. The ramped thumb stud is nice! It's great for both left and right handed users and has more surface area to open the nice. The nice is also very nice looking. I love the blue with the accents of gold! I have showed it off multiple times. There is only one downside to the knife. I have had the knife for 1 week and the gold on the thumb stud has already worn off!

In looking for a high performance EDC the knife must have the following features. 1) be comfortable in the pocket. 2) not tear up the pocket from repeated daily use. 3) Open with one hand smoothly 4) have good blade geometry and grind 5) high quality steel and heat treat. From my past experience with Cold Steel I was pleasantly surprised that the Golden Eye could check off all of the above boxes and more. I love the new grippy G10 that is pocket friendly. I was not expecting the ramped thumb hole to be that great, but it is absolutely fantastic. When I open the knife it feels natural and more secure. I hate to say this but it is better than the Spyderco hole IMHO.

This is a great edc knife with good ergos. However the brass on the HTR has worn off in just two weeks. Cold Steel's website simply says brass. They don't declare whether it's solid brass or brass plate. I have owned several Cold Steel knives and it feels like the real article. If it is a fake, it's an expensive one. If it is the genuine article, I expect better information from Cold Steel. I don't mind brass plate. Just tell me so I don't expect more.***UPDATE*** I called Cold Steel and they verified it is brass plate.

Great knife. Smooth action on the triad, no break - in like many other models. Sharp outta the box and the green g10 has a moderate, but not too aggressive texture, making it easier on the pockets than, say, an American lawman. The little hole is raised with 3 step ups to grip ur thumb for opening too. Really one of my fav knives from Cold Steel and classy to boot!
