I purchased these fins in size xxxs(9-11 green fins) and also size xxs(11-1 Orange fins) for my 5 1/2 year old daughter. She is just getting into size 11 in girls tennis shoes so I was a bit unsure which pair would fit better. The green fins fit my daughter much better and so I would say to other buyers that these fins run a little large, you want the fins to be snug enough to stay on their feet while swimming) not a big deal though because eventually my daughter will get into the orange pair. She just started on the swim team and long rubber fins are a requirement for the swimmers (it helps train them to get proper kicking down and keeps up there speed so the young swimmers can keep up with the older ones.)All of the kids on my daughters swim team use this brand fins and these are the ones the coach recommends they are durable and good quality the long fins work better as well. I do have one concern with my order and that is that the Orange pair seem to have some cosmetic imperfections as pictured. Not really happy about this since this should have been easy to catch upon a basic inspection of the product. Also, amazons shipping has gone way downhill, I bought these through Amazon prime, sold by Amazon and it arrived in 6 days! What happened to 2 day free shipping for prime members? My last comment is about the pricing, I know all Amazon prices are constantly fluctuating but I think it's sort of silly that I had to pay about $1 more for the smaller size than the bigger one.

These FINIS fins are excellent. My kids have been enjoying them all summer. Check the size chart available on the FINIS website: http://www.finisinc.com/floating-fin, click on "size chart." We bought four sizes for four kids ages 3-10: size XXXS (8-11, blue/green), size XS (1-3, blue/yellow), size S (3-5, red/black), and size M (5-7, red/blue). I was concerned about the fit and which size to order each child. My 5-year-old boy wears size 12 child and he prefers to size-down to the XXXS blue/green fins meant for sizes 8-11. But my older boys (ages 8 and 10) were both just below their size range and have not sized down. The son who wears 2.5 youth sneakers is wearing the S/3-5 fins, and the son who wears size 4.5 youth is wearing the M/5-7 fins. Soooo, I suspect that it will come down to the fit your own child prefers if he/she is on the fence size-wise. We had 1 pair of fins last year with an adjustable back strap that multiple children used, but the strap broke and couldn't be replaced or fixed. I was wary of misjudging the correct size of size-specific fins, but these turned out to be a wonderful purchase. As long as we don't lose them (!), they will serve us well for many years. They seem to me to be of very high quality and are much more flexible than the fins we had last year. (which were very rigid).

We love Finis flippers! We bought the orange/blue size for our five year old over a year ago. She has worn a toddler 10 shoe and they've fit fine. they've been roomy but she's an avid/strong swimmer and has had no problems keeping them on her feet while swimming. One year and a half later, her foot is only barely out of the 10's and almost in the 11's and this size is still perfect for her. One of the flippers did split just above the foot a couple weeks ago, but I think it's from repeated standing on the ends in the shallow end of the pool. For the price, after a year and a half, we were happy to quickly order a new pair and she's still swimming like crazy with them!(we also just got her the Fini Mermaid Tail fin and she's loving that, too but will need some swim socks/shoes to help keep it on as it's a tiny bit large for her).About floating: In a pool setting we don't really worry about this, but they don't always float up to the surface very quickly so using them in open water I would definitely want to get the sizing right and be sure to keep an eye on them as I could see one getting lost that way if you're not in crystal clear water.

When choosing a pair of fins, fit is the paramount criterion, not only in terms of foot length but also foot breadth and arch height. The foot pockets are long enough to accomodate my feet so that my toes don't protrude through the toe opening and weaken the sides when the fins flex. They are broad enough to match my foot width comfortably, while the higher sides of the foot openings are ideal for wearers with higher arches. The more the foot is enclosed within the foot pocket, the more comfortable the fin feels, the more secure it is and the snugger the fit without pinching or rubbing.Unlike certain other Malaysian-made models, this fin is a winner on all foot-fitting counts, length, width and height, with just one exception: the toe area within the foot pocket, which curves downwards towards the toe opening and seems to be made of stiffer rubber, a possible pressure point. Otherwise this is an excellent fin, an improvement on previous designs. The fin's offset blade is smooth and its medium flexibility is very suitable not only for a beginning and intermediate swimmer's workout but also for normal snorkelling purposes.

This pair of fins work OK but not great.Fit: I wear size 10.5W. Like some others commented the front of the foot holes are narrow. The FINIS fins fit OK but there was some pinch when wearing them even in water. I ware ankle high socks protection.Propulsion: Compared to a pair of older design Speedo Floating long-blade rubber fins (not the plastic one listed in Amazon), the FINIS flips are softer. It generated less propulsion when kicking with similar effort. I timed a distance of 50 yards repeatedly by my best effort with each fins. The Speedo model consistently yielded 3-5% better time.Observed difference: Both are made in Malaysia. The length and width of the blades are identical. The weight was similar. Both floated. The Speedo model has raised edges on both sides of the blades which may account for the higher stiffness. I could not decipher any other structural difference.Looking at reviews of other models in Amazon listing, the FINIS Fins have many more favorable reviews and is rated better than other models. So I decided to keep them. I wish Speedo still makes the older rubber type of long blade fins.

I wear a men's 9, and originally ordered the 9-11. While I could technically get these on my feet, my toes stuck way through the cutout, and they were obviously much too small. I kept them anyway for my daughter to use.I just received the next size up, the 11-13. My toes still stick through the cutout, but not too much. These seem like they'll be comfortable size-wise. Any bigger, and I'd be concerned about them being too wide. My feet are regular to narrow, and these look like they are on the wider side.So my advice is to use US women's sizing for these and convert appropriately if needed. Round any uncertainty up (i.e., get bigger than you think you need),as these would still run a little short even on the women's scale. For those curious, on the size 11-13, the interior footbed length is 10.325" (center line). The over-the-toes cutout begins at 9.875" from the heel. Overall length is 18.5"Other than that, the build and materials quality seems good. Looking forward to getting these in the pool.

I have purchased several of these fins for my 2 boys. They use them pretty much every day of the summer in our pool and I love the fins as do they. They have not complaints about the comfort. I see some reviews say these run big and some say they run small. I can say that at least for my boys, the fins run larger than their shoe size. My oldest currently wears a size 4 shoe and the fin that corresponds to his shoe size fits, but is a little loose. My youngest is wearing the fin size below his shoe size as the next one up falls off his feet. I will say that they don't hold up more than a season or two of hard use (my kids do walk around on the pool step and outside of the pool with them sometimes though). The rubber just seems to break down. I would think though that if you were just using them to swim laps, they would last quite a while. Overall very happy and I keep coming back to buy these when my boys need the next size.

Fins are good quality and float as stated in the description. Bought them for my son who is tall with big feet and wears a solid 3.5. I was a little confused about the sizes offered and descriptions in the size chart. I also noted many of the customer questions are confusion around the sizes offered. I purchased the size SM 3-5 just as the size chart suggested. However, like many other posts here, they were too small. My son's toes stuck out of the front about a half an inch. It wasn't bad, but I was hoping they would be a little big so he would have room to grow! Ended up giving them to his little sister who wears a size 2.5 with very narrow feet (his are wide) and they fit her.She can donate her cheap plastic 'mermaid' fins to another child. I am going to order the next size up for my son and hope they fit him properly. If you purchase, they are really nice fins but I would definitely order one size larger.

I basically use my fins every morning Monday to Friday. I do 42 Lengths of the pool in about half an hour. I find the fins give me enough resistance against the water to give my feet a good workout. The fit is a bit tight from the width sometimes causing me near blisters. So far they are holding out well. My experience of fins is that they rip from where the big toe sticks out. I guess it depends on the quality of the material how long they last and only at that time you can actually recommend or decide you will make a different choice next buy.At this point I would reserve my recommendation since I have only used them for a short time. I find I can only recommend fins after about 5 months of use.Previously I had Speedo fins which I thought would be of good quality that only lasted for about three months. This was the reason I changed to Finis.

My biggest worries with these fins were sizing and comfort. I ordered the blue/yellow size 1-3.My girls aged 7 & 9 wear shoe sizes 2 (very narrow) & 2.5 (average width) and these fit both girls wonderfully! They were also soft (the shoe part) and comfortable to wear according to both girls. My girls love the added speed they give in the water. They seemed, to me, to be surprisingly true to size, I expect by girls shoe size 4 we will need the next larger size fins. These did not fit my 5 y/o son (I had no expectation that they would) he wears a boys size 11, and the fins repeatedly fell off his feet in the water (so if you are thinking about buying them big so they last for more years, don't go too big!)They have a great feel and seem to be GREAT quality! All the kids at the pool wanted to take a turn with them, great buy!!!!! :)

Bought for my 12 year old daughter (size 7 in women’s shoe) and my 7 year old son (size 13 kids). Bought the 5-7 for my daughter and the 11-1 for my son. The 5-7 fit my daughter perfectly. She can flip turn and they stay in place. She can probably even downsize, they are that stretchy and her foot is slim. But she opted to keep them and they are fine. Even with daily use they haven’t over stretched. The 11-1 was perfect for my seven year old. He has a wider flat Flintstone looking foot and it fits well. Not too snug that he’s uncomfortable, and he can still put it on himself.Usefulness: They work well for my kids who are already great swimmers (can swimlaps etc).My niece who is not a great swimmer kind of panicked with them at first. Eventually she was ok and enjoyed them but still wasn’t 100% comfortable.

The basics:•good fit•seem very durable•easy to useEditorial:I’m a size 11, bought the x-large (red and black) My foot is fairly wide so they are a bit snug in the toes, I’d prefer that than too big and sloppy. I wear a pair of very thin no-show socks and use a product called body glide on my toes to reduce friction. I’d bought fancy water socks and they made it very hard to get the fins on, save your money, buy no-show socks. When I’m not wearing them I put some very tight fitting shoe trees in them to help stretch them. The fins don’t have a left and right so I put an R on one that I’ll always wear on my right foot so as they hopefully stretch they’ll hopefully be more fitted to each foot.I’ve never used fins and thought they’d be awkward and hard to get used to,not so! I love swimming with these on.

These are the first fins I have ever used. I did a lot of research before choosing these. I bought them for casual ocean swimming, which doesn't appear to be their intended purpose, but they do work well. In rough surf they do less well because sand gets in the toe opening. They aid immensely with body surfing; I don't have the upper body strength to propel myself quickly enough to catch waves, and these allow me to get a sudden burst of speed and catch waves.I am a size ten, so I ordered the 9-11 red and black fins. They fit very well, but if you are a small 9 or large 11, you might want to adjust up or down. Red is not my favorite color but I have grown fond of it over time.Added bonus: they are fun!I had a great time just zipping around in these. Also will give your legs a bit of a workout.

It is very difficult to get the right size with these - I suggest you read reviews for information because that's where you'll find the size that works for different ages. It's still a pain. I ended up buying a pair of Finis Fishtail Baby Fins (Blue) for our 4.5 year old boy with small feet and he'd wear them to bed after swimming for hours in them.I like this (FINIS Floating Fins) product (had to return it because of size), and have to give it high reviews. The rubber is soft and shouldn't hurt little feet like the harder rubber adult fins do (body surfing or scuba). These floated in our pool, so I don't know what happened to one reviewer that reported them sinking in a lake (different waterchemistry?).Looks like FINIS is the company to go with for kid's fins!

These are a well made swim fin. I wish the sizing was a little better explained in the product information. I couldn't find anywhere that explained whether the listed sizes were men's or women's sizing. I checked several other web sites other than Amazon looking for sizing info and it just wasn't there. I wear a women's size 8.5 and ordered these in size 7-9. They are a very snug fit and I wear them with bare feet. They are snug enough that they start hurting my feet after wearing them half an hour or so. I would like to buy swim socks to wear with them, but they are so snug now I really don't know if I could wear them with a sock. All in all, I am pleased with my purchase. These are great for exercise in the pool! As always, Amazon shipping was fantastic!
