Updated review after 7 years - I am buying a replacement torch having had reliable if infrequent use of my previous Energizer Keyring Torch for over 7 years! My old one is still working but not very strongly, so I thought it was time to retire it. I think this is one of the best purchases I have ever made.Given the tiny dimensions of this torch, I half expected it to just be useful for finding keyholes in the dark. It is much, much better than that. In total darkness it casts a beam (admittedly of uneven intensity, with some areas darker than others and with a bluish centre) across 20 to 30 feet, maybe more. It can certainly be relied on for clearly illuminating the immediate six feet or so of pathway in front of you.It also seems solidly built and a quite attractive design. I bought one for my garden shed keyring, and may well buy another for my main keyring. At the price, a bargain.

I bought this torch so I could see car parking pay machine instructions in badly lit car parks. It is ideal for this. It is portable and attaches to the car key ring easily but securely. The beam is bright. It also came in useful for finding my row number in an event arena because the beam is quite narrow. It was no more intrusive than the mobile torches people were trying to use but it was more efficient. The reason for four stars instead of five is the fact that you can't keep the beam switched on, you have to depress the switch all the time making, which makes it difficult to keep a light stream and fumble things from your pocket or handbag. My husband struggled to hold the beam and orientate a map in the street. The other reason for four stars is that to get at the battery to change it you have to find a tiny screw driver that will fit the little screws to undo the case.

For "solid" read heavy though that is not necessarily a criticism. It's solid metal and larger and heavier than typical plastic micro key-lights. Its size, even without the large split ring, means the switch comes easily to hand while holding a bunch of keys in the palm of the hand. IMO that's how a key-ring light should be.The design is well rounded and will not snag. I speculate its weight makes it more suited to a handbag than a pocket. The product page I purchased from says it uses a CR2032 cell but the enclosed instructions say 2 x CR2016. I suspect there are two models in circulation. Would have preferred the CR2032 version but not enough to send it back "misdescribed".Only one feature slightly disappoints. Its a very bright concentrated white LED but with a strange blue tint, enough to loose a star. Otherwise a good product.

I note that the biggest criticism of this torch is that the light only stays on when the button is kept depressed.I agree . I did a bit of research and purchased one from America . ( I live in the UK ).The American Energiser torch looks exactly the same and I have owned one for over 5 years with no problems. It is my constant companion. Discreet and effective. Not only does the American version stay on when the button is depressed until it is switched off again , it has a second mode which starts the light flashing.I'm not sure why this version is not readily available in the UK.The downside of course is the postage cost of obtaining the American version which may put folk off from buying one.I thought it was worth it because it is so useful.Remember, the best torch in the world is the one you have with you when you need it.

Excellent product. Finally I seem to have found a key ring LED torch that appears robust enough to last on my key ring. Every other torch I've had either detaches too easily, or isn't robust enough. Either way I've found my previous LED torches have disappeared off my key ring. This is a nice bright light with a slightly purplish/blue cast. From new, it lights up to the back of a dark warehouse (which is about 20 meters), the light is not very bright at that distance as you would expect, it's about the maximum practical useful light possible. It's got a simple press button which you have to keep held down to activate the light. It needs reasonable pressure,so I'm not expecting the light to come on by accident in my pocket.

Long-lasting (based upon the life of the original Energiser torch-key which finally died (necessitating this 2016 purchase). Interestingly, the original batteries were still only half-used when the LED died suddenly. The original had also been dropped on a few occasions, stuffed into car ashtrays, crammed into Her ladyship's handbags but always worked - until October 2016 after MANY years of service. We look forward to continued service on the years to come. The original torch key-ring lit up our car doors, steps and the front door; small enough not to perturb the lines (nor linings) of my wife's coat.It won't light up a soccer pitch, but that isn't why we bought it.Mike

Great little light, very bright and small at the same time. It just annoys me that it can't be left on, you have to keep your thumb on the button to activate the light. This is annoying in circumstances where you need both hands free such as unlocking the combination lock to my garage. I think this is what the product description calls 'press and light' but that's not very clear to me.Yes, I can see why this works this way, so it doesn't turn on in your pocket and drain the battery, but I probably would have bought something else had this been clearer.Still, for 4 quid I can't complain too much and I'd still recommend it.

I have been using this keychain light for just over a year a now and it is still going strong. It is perfect for looking for things in the dark and has come in useful so many times it's hard to count! Excellent value for money and being made of metal it is durable. Only problem I have had is because the LED sits proud of the casing, it has been exposed to a hard surface and cracked down the middle. Whilst it's still useable it has affected the light output a fraction, but sealing it with aluminium tape has helped.

Purchased for safety and ease of finding the key hole in the front door during the winter months.Gives a really good bright light, and we used it during a power cut when we were on holiday in Devon, and had to walk through the Church yard to get back to the cottage when a tree blocked the road.Ideal for emergency use, and handy as its on your key ring, you never know when you might need a torch, we didn't, but we all have them now, and find them a very useful gadget to have to hand.

If only the light would stay on. My elderly mother struggles to keep it depressed, which while hilarious at Christmas trying to empty the carboot, soon got annoying when I felt like I was under a disco strobe light and her moaning that her hand was cold. She couldnt do it with gloves on. Not good for weak lady thumbs. I dont find it so tricky. Light, sturdy feel, crisp, bright. Handy, slick look. Id give it 5 stars if it could have a click on/off feature.

Got this for my keyring as I didn't like pulling out the phone, then look for the light app and have to be careful not to drop the phone. As soon as it arrived, my mum nabbed it! Got another one, and my brother took it!Bought in total 4 of these. The brightness is great for a product of this size and the build is really solid. Its got a good weight to it that makes it feel secure. The price of this thing yoyo's but for about £3.50 its totally worth it.

Excellent torch for a keyring. Its extremely bright i.e. if you stand in the middle of a country lane and use it, it will light up all the road from hedge to hedge.Only fault I can find is the button needs to be pressed, and held, in a certain way to keep the light on, sometimes this isnt easy but overall its well worth the money, especially for anyone walking home in dark streets or waiting at dark bus stops.

I was very impressed with these little torches, I had bought one for myself & one for my son as we live in a village with no streetlights & trying to unlock the front door in the dark can be quite tricky. They're a great size with a nice bright beam, the only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that you have to hold the switch down to keep the light on but still a great buy & ideal for our needs

A supprisingly extremely bright little torch that I bought to put on my bike keyring. This should carry a warning, I mean it's almost weapon grade brightness. If someone tried to grab you while out in the dark this WILL blind them! I have already temporarily blinded myself a few times accidently. It's also waterproof and feels like a solid heavy lump of smooth metal.

These LED key rings are life-savers. I have a few of them and keep them on my car key, on my motorcycle key and in various coat pockets. Because they are so compact you can take them everywhere. In wintertime they have helped my numerous times to find keyholes, retrieve dropped keys in the pitch dark, etc. Would not leave the house in winter time without one!
