Yes this is a very good bag. Well made, durable in all the right places, and with a 30 year guarantee - but compared to the same Eastpak from around 8 years ago, the quality has dropped and the guarantee is no longer for life.Eastpak has made small changes to the Ultimate backpack and none of them are for the better. They are clearly all cost saving changes. The laptop sleeve in the main compartment in no longer nicely padded - it is now only a thin piece of material separating the laptop sleeve from the rest of the bag. This means that I have to be extra careful when packing the main compartment because hard things eg books will now bang against the laptop and damage it.They have also removed the velcro strap that hold the laptop securely. This means that if you don't have much in the main compartment to fill the bag out and physically hold the laptop secure, the laptop in the laptop sleeve will flap around in the bag's vacuum. This cannot be fixed by tightening the side straps.I also have (or had) a current Provider backpack and this does have the velcro strap for laptop and a padded laptop sleeve. The new style Ultimate doesn't feel as comfortable on the shoulders as previous versions. Still no side pockets either - so to be honest, there's not much that's 'ultimate' about this backpack anymore.

Great Eastpak product as always. Robust and well made and with a 30 year guarantee which does, for a change, seem to be worth the paper it's written on! People using the guarantee seem to have positive experiences - although hopefully it will never be required.Lots of pockets and well thought out layout. The bag is very deep, especially when full so watch out if using on busy public transport! This was bought as a bag to carry work and gym gear - whilst it wasn't specifically designed for that, it does the job well with room to separate things.Only point of note is that the bottom is covered in brown plastic (faux leather) which I hadn't noticed before purchasing. It's not a big deal but is a slightly strange colour to choose alongside the black. A marmite choice for most people I think.Overall an excellent Eastpak product as per usual.

It can be quite hard to choose a back pack - sometimes you read the description and it seems like you're getting lots of space, but you unpack it and find that it's just one big pocket and it's not that big.You don't have that problem with this one. It's got brilliant capacity inside, but it's also got exactly the right amount of external and internal pockets. The compartments are enough to store laptops, iPads, cables etc., while having enough other zipped up pockets to store all your other stuff.I've spent years trying to find a bag that's big enough without being oversized, with decent pockets but without overloading me with zips. This is definitely it - and the price is great too.I've bought loads of £20-30 bags that claim to be big with extra pockets, but this one absolutely gives you what you need.

In my youth I used to go travelling for six to eight months at a time with just a suede bottomed eastpak daysack - it had two pockets - but it fitted the bill. The ultimate bag is familiar but far more useful - and deceptively spacious. Now I'm a daddy of three young girls, it takes five beach towels, ponchos, large bottles of water, snacks and everything you'll ever need for a day at the beach - and is easy to carry. For business or weekends away, these can easily carry the essentials - and as they have more useful and varied pockets - my macbook and the ipads slot into the padded back, keys and tablets tuck away in the front - and if you're careful with the front pocket loading, easy as carry-on luggage. Absolutely brilliant. Now my everyday work choice. Brilliant.

My decision criteria- High capacity - to include an extra layer of clothing or for an overnight trip- Compression straps - so I can use the same bag when I'm just going down to the coffee shop, or when I need to pack for a 2 day trip.- Decent looking - acceptable on public transport, and at an office- Discreet - nothing that stands out- No bottle side pockets - no one wants people coughing on their water bottle- No massive laptop pouch - this has a thin pocket which is fine - I did not want a backpack that folds open in two spilling its guts or a big laptop pouch that takes up most of the space. I don't always carry my laptop, and when I do I'm happy to put it in a protective neoprene sleeve.

Had a Provider backpack for nearly 10 years and was looking to something to replace it (to be honest it still looks great apart some minor damage here and there, but that's to be expected having used it pretty much every day for 10 years!).Been looking around for other brands/models but in the end the Ultimate looked to be the best option.Backpack looks great, Compared to the Provider it's lacking the padded laptop "pocket", but using a laptop cover will easily solve the "issue" and the extra space (35L Vs. 42L) comes very handy while traveling.Couldn't be more satisfied with it.

I bought an Eastpak cabin size bag last year and the quality is fantastic plus you a get a 39 year guarantee. Gradually over the past year I have been replacing all of our suitcases large and small with Eastpak cases. They are well made and a lot of thought has gone into the design and functionality. I could recommend them more highly especially when bought in a lightning deal.

Great sturdy bag with plenty of storage and compartment flexibility. I bought this for air travel as it’s they correct cabin size but soft enough to fit comfortably in the overhead compartments or under seats unlike some rigid carry ons.

Good product, didn’t disappoint. Always have been a Eastpack customer, this is backpack I’m using to replace a trolley on my commutes, more practical on crowded places, stairs etc.

A really superb back pack. Other reviews contain all that needs to be said and I am just adding to and supporting the overall score for this product.

It's not my the most aesthetically appeasing rucksack but, it's very functional, spacious, build to last and live to it's name - ULTIMATE!
