Agree with the majority sentiment here in the sense that this is an extremely good beginner, occasional snorkeler, or holiday user set and all from the market leader who know a thing or two about diving!OK, so what are you getting for your money? Well, quite a lot actually – the mask is the Cressi Penta, now discontinued as a standalone mask but one which in its day retailed (alone) for £40. The Penta features raked front lenses, with minimum lens-eye distance shaped to offer maximum visibility, a very thin frame with rubber inserts (complete with side windows), a side “skirt” with a perfectly watertight internal seal (adjustable to every face type) and the same quick release buckles which feature on Cressi’s much dearer models. It’s comfortable to wear with good all round vision and when fitted correctly about the same as most in terms of fogging (always remember to spit!). The snorkel is a beginners dream! To me it is identical to, if not the actual “Alpha dry Ultra” model whose key feature is the float mechanism at the end of the air funnel which closes instantly to prevent water from entering the snorkel whether accidentally or purposely submerged. This combined with the low purge valve means that you are far less likely to end up with a stomach full of salt water and should be able to swim, dive uninterrupted without ever having to purge the snorkel. It’s comfortable in the mouth and compliments the mask perfectly in terms of design. The Ultra Dry Snorkel still retails at around £18.00.Bearing in mind the quality of both mask and snorkel and the fact that both fit neatly into a very handy travel bag (perfect for holidays) this has to be a 5 star winner and one to pack for the next trip. Highly recommended and in a different league to the many unbranded sets which we all seem to impulse purchase when abroad!

Having a love of water and being a keen scuba diver the opportunity to try another mask combo cannot be missed. This one has a snorkel which reminds me of how they used to be 30 years plus ago with a ping pong ball float at the top of the snorkel (a bit like those new gimmicky full masks have, the ones you can't easily equalise using).Instead of a ping pong ball, this has a float under a guard which forces a flap over the air flow (with a silicon seal on it). Thus when you dive down, the top of the snorkel is sealed leaving the pipe filled with air (rather than water). When you surface again, the valve opens and you can then breath in or out without having to purge the snorkel. The snorkel alsohas a more normal purge valve at the base of the snorkel should water enter the pipe and it also makes breathing out easier as the top of the snorkel restricts the airflow should you be taking deep breaths. The snorkel being filled with water also makes your head a little more buoyant when you try to dive down.It has a clip to attach to the mask strap which is fairly easy to separate. The mask is nice and low profile and before you go on your expensive trip make sure it is a good seal on your face, does not hit your nose and that it it easy easy to equalise (squeeze your nose). The strap is easy to adjust (don't have it too tight, water pressure will seal it on your face and if you end up with a ring mark on your face it is too tight).Follow normal advice to stop the lenses fogging up, I have been trying Vim, as suggested by someone who has been diving for 50 years. All made in Italy and seems very good for snorkelling but I would not recommend the snorkel if you are scuba diving.

This snorkel and mask combi comes in a handy bag, just right for packing in your summer suitcase! The design looks very professional - a nice combination of greys and blacks - and makes it look like it was made for some serious snorkelling rather than splashing about near the shore. The mask has very deep field of vision which makes it really effective for looking down and watching the fishies and the straps are easy to adjust for most heads. The nose piece gives good coverage and means you're less tempted to breathe that way and more likely to use the snorkel successfully. One slight criticism is that it steamed me up around the bottom of the eyes no matter how many different ways I tried to adjust it (and not breathe through my nose!)but that might just be more practice needed on my part though. The snorkel has a great one-way valve system meaning that less water goes in and you're much more able to dive down and have a look around without getting into a state when you come back up. It's not perfect, water can still get in to some extent but it's a lot better than a normal open snorkel.Overall this is an excellent bit of kit - you'd probably pay £20-30 for a decent mask and a basic snorkel so, for just a few more quid, you're getting something that really stands out from the crowd! Definitely recommended! Now off to get me some flippers!

This mask and snorkel set from Cressi is a quality set that is ideal for snorkelling or even diving with. Being a keen and diver and occasional snorkeller, I was pleased to be able to try out this set and see how it fared. The mask is low volume and without the big chunky side bits that masks used to have, so enables good visibility with the clear side "panels" allowing more light through for better vision and a less enclosed feel. I had no particular problems with the mask fogging, but I did wash it several times before first use and also used defogging spray. The mask is light and comfortable to wear - even for relatively prolonged periods - and is easily adjustable. The splash guard on thesnorkel does a great job of stopping occasional splashes from ending up in the body of your snorkel and the purge valve makes it very easy to avoid inhaling water and to clear your snorkel when you need to.If you are thinking of snorkelling whilst on holiday etc then I would highly recommend getting a set such as this. If you are unlucky on holiday and end up with a snorkel that doesn't have these features then it is often a rather less pleasurable experience as it can be difficult to avoid getting the occasional mouth/lungful of water!Overall this is a lovely mask and snorkel set that is light, easy to pack and is quite feature-rich. Recommended.

I've done plenty of diving in the past and lots of snorkelling too, which in some ways, in the right location, I actually prefer. With a set like this you can travel light and enjoy fuss-free sessions. So first I'll give a view on the mask. I like the silicon construction and the front and side 'glass' does give decent visibility. While the rest is clear silicon, peripheral visibility is not particularly enhanced - it's too opaque to add much value in my view. I guess no worse than the standard masks I've used in the past. Fitment is excellent, as is adjustment. Seal is pretty good and remains so if you know how to breath. You need to ensure a good spit seal and likewise rub spit over the glass to prevent it misting up.Hard to complain at the price and the mask I recommend. The snorkel is also good. It's actually really good and I had no discomfort, fitting problems or performance issues. I can recommend it as a safe buy. The splash guard is potentially a useful addition, especially if you are new to snorkelling. Overall, I have no grumbles about this set. It is priced right for the market and likely better you buy this that hire a set when on holiday. You can max out on the individual adjustments and get to know your own equipment. This will offer a better dive or snorkel experience.

I finally got the chance to try snorkelling during a long holiday in SE Asia last winter and absolutely loved it. I would never have believed how clearly things below surface level can be seen – breathtaking. I'm sold and can't wait to do it again, so when offered this snorkel set to try, why wouldn't I!The mask is light and very comfortable, with no pinching on the nose, and good field of vision. The seal around the mask is clear and flexible allowing a perfect fit to the face without pressure. The glass lenses are crisp, clear and easy to clean, and the straps make it fully adjustable. Now I'm an absolute beginner at this activity, but even I can feel the difference in this set as against the one I hired. The actual tube on this set is more effective for me – it's down to the valve which prevents water from going into it. This, for me, makes snorkelling a more enjoyable experience. I haven't been able to test it in the open seas of SE Asia yet, so have been trying it out in a local pool. This will definitely be packed into my rucksack in a few month. My only criticism is the bag; it's just a bit too tight and makes removing, andCan't wait to try them out “properly”!

I really like this snorkel and mask set - they are a cut above the usual, even for Cressi. The mask has very unusally shaped, nearly triangular lenses - almost insect-like - which gives a much greater visual field than normal, both below and to the side, without having to move your head unnecessarily. It fits and seals very well and is comfortable to wear - soft and gentle to the skin. The snorkel is also top quality - clears easly with a very effective purge valve, the super splash guard protects you from water getting in the top as you swim and a floating valve seals the top when you go underwater. And it's easy to re-open with a quick breath when you break the surface again.Lovely and flexible at the bottom it is easy and comfy to hold in your mouth and I love the little removable clip that you can attach to the mask, then clip back onto the snorkel. i always find that job fiddly and a nuisance and this clip system has solved the problem instantly. I have road-tested them at the local pool (it's winter right now) and had no problems whatever. They are now back in their handy bag, ready for the summer holidays.

A snorkel is something we as a family, mainly me and my son enjoy taking with me us when going away on holiday, tends to be packed first to make sure we can fit it in.A good snorkel set is not always easy to find, plenty on the market but some are just cheap and a bit nasty. I already have a Cressi snorkel which I do like, I’m happy with the brand and tend to stick with it.First impression are a very well made mask, everything fits well, feel is great.Fit is perfect, its tight but it has to be water tight, the plastic feels soft to the face, this is something I do like. Very comfortable, I normally find myself fiddling trying to get it to fit and not pinch when I first put them on,this was very easy it get comfortableThe viewing is clear, great field of view.I do like the mouth piece, again a well thought out design that isn’t alien to the mouth and found it easy to breath and stay relaxed.Again another great set from Cressi, of to Lanzarote in a couple of weeks, its already sat on my case waiting to go

I brought the black/black pano 3 set just before Christmas. I recently got back from Mexico where I did a lot of snorkelling and a scuba dive to a depth of 40ft. When it arrived, we did the old burn and toothpaste tricks and before use in the sea or pools (my children practiced with it) we sprayed some no tears baby shampoo onto it, then a super quick rinse in the water and off we went. This mask did not fog or leak once!! I was quite smug on our scuba dive as our instructor had to clear his mask of water a few times, but not me :-) I love the pano 3 design my visibility area was superb and I saw so much coral and sea life, I have so many wonderful memories it was just amazing. The snorkel is again fantastic, doesn’t let water in and is easy to purge when the mouthpiece is removed underwater. In fact I love this mask and snorkel set so much I am going to buy both my children their own ones. My husband also has the pano 4 and snorkel set, again superb mask.

I got this as we'll be heading to a well-known snorkelling destination this summer but in order to test it for review in the meantime I actually took it to my local swimming baths which means I looked like a right plonker for your benefit. Suffice to say that this is an excellent mask and snorkel set for someone like me, a holiday or beginner snorkeler, in fact it felt a darn sight better than anything I'd likely buy on holiday or just before. The mask is excellent, really comfortable and secure and providing excellent vision underwater (pool water is obviously very clear so I look forward to testing it in something more natural). The snorkel is great too, with the old ping pong ball style valve to prevent water entering when you submerge and a splash guard to help prevent any water entering the snorkel. As I said previously, a good set for the amateur, like me.

As I’m a non-swimmer, not a lot of use to me, but my son tried it and liked it.“I've had the luxury of trying a few snorkel sets out recently, and I have to say that this is the best quality so far.The snorkel is light and has a great finish with a bendable air elbow which makes use simple. The plastic mouth piece is well shaped and makes a great seal when underwater. The mask is the best bit, especially the tempered glass which offers crystal clear viewing underwater (to give you an idea, this appliues even in a bubble bath!), and the quick release and lock headband gives a snug comfortable fit.Another bonus is the carry bag. which has a minor snag due to the narrow top, which makes it tough when removing them from the case.”He loved the set, but found the price on the high side, hence four stars rather than five.

I usually just hire snorkels when on holiday, but have never been too thrilled with what I've been given, not to mention that fact that loads of other people have used it before. That pushed me towards getting one for myself, preferably of better quality. The first thing I noticed about this set was how well the mask fitted over my eyes and nose. Tight fitting without feeling too hard pressed, and with a decent field of vision. The snorkel itself wasn't uncomfortable in the mouth and I like the seal at the top to prevent water coming in when going below the surface. The picture is a little misleading, as the flipper-looking part is just a carry bag, but even so, at £40 for the very good mask and snorkel,it's a good buy for the more occasional holiday snorkeler who wants something better than the standard hire kit.

The googles are comfortable, the snorkel seems to be good at not letting water in the top, so it's easy for a beginner like me to use these effectively in open waters. I like that the snorkel clips onto the goggles in such a way that it's secure but you can quite easily unclip. The packaging is resealable. The googles seemed to fog a little bit - perhaps some kind of anti-fog coating would have been good. I had a few issues getting the position of the clip right so that the snorkel wasn't trying to pull itself out of my mouth. Overall, though, this seems to be a good set with decent optical clarity and comfort and no unexpected leaks. The snorkel is long enough to breathe quite easily when swimming along the surface, and you splashes got in so I had no unexpected mouthfuls of water. Recommended.

Very good set, not an expert, was my first snorkeling experience wasn't disappointed. Ultra dry snorkel is a fantastic piece of kit, at first was a bit paranoid about getting some sea water in to my throat, but a day later gained confidence as it kept water out like a champ. Mask was equally good, crystal clear view like watching bbc, no fogging (did a lighter and toothpaste cleaning and saliva trick works 100%), had a few small leaks in a week's time, but it is easy to clear just blowing some air in to the mask through your nose. I should have bought this kit many years ago.

Used this for snorkeling in the Seychelles. The snorkel piece was perfect. No problems at all. It has a useful clip on and off part so I could switch masks for diving but still use the snorkel :)The mask it self was not as good. I found it would let water in around the nose when snorkeling for longer periods of time which would be irritating.I’d recommend this set to people mostly for the snorkel piece. There’s no water coming in from this :)
