I bought this to help me with my triathlon training so I guess you can say I'm a serious user. I've experience of Garmin Edge 500, Garmin Forerunner 310XT and other run specific watches used on the bike. I use it with a Tate labs barfly mount which extends the computer centrally off the handlebars between my aero bars. I haven't used the standard mount. What I loved the most about it was the clear display and the no nonsense layout. I know that with a speed sensor on the wheel, in a race situation I can grab my bike out of transition, hit the road and have everything I need at a glance: speed, power in watts, heart rate and cadence. If you want to know how far you've ridden or the elapsed time you have to cycle through the menu using the single button which is easy enough but may not be to everybody's taste. In a race on a marked course I'd sooner have only the data I need and keep my head down so it suits me. If you prefer a customisable display then this isn't for you as it doesn't have that function.Having used it many times now I'm very happy with how fast it picks up satellite reception. It may even find satellite by the time I', out of transition but I haven't tested it in that way yet. What is a bit frustrating is when conducting specific workouts, eg intervals, you can't view your heart rate and elapsed time on the same screen. However if you are training using watts or perceived exertion that isn't important anyway. This interacts brilliantly with Training Peaks and Strava for me so you can be serious and/or social with this device. I don't use the Cateye Atlas software though so can't speak for that. What I have noticed in Training Peaks is this device doesn't autolap. It would be nice if every KM or mile it created a new lap so I can compare 1KM or mile efforts in my training software. Strava software automatically creates KM or Mile laps so it's not a problem if you are a Strava user.I've read many people having trouble uploading data from their device. I'm really not sure what their issues are as I've not had any problem on either Win 7, Win 8 or XP. I did note that in XP you have to have the correct Microsoft Net Framework installed or it won't install. In summary:PROS: Simple no nonsense display and user interaction makes it ideal for race situation. Power meter compatible. Price. Compatible with Strava & Training Peaks. Picks up GPS super fast. Single button function (once set up).CONS: No autolap feature is problematic for software other than Strava. Can't view elapsed time and HR at same time. No course routes or maps. No trainer / workout function.Very nearly 5 stars, just cant do it because of lacking some functions. For the price though, EXCELLENT!!!
