This lens stands out currently on the canon EF mount. Been the cheapest lens available. It's wide aperture let's in a lot of light and mild macro ability with image stabilisation make this a feature rich lens. This lens is also a lot sharper than the closest EF equivalent lens. However with it been the cheapest lens. It also operates a bit cheaper than other RF lenses. With more basic autofocus. It gets the job done but it's not as quick as other lenses. It also misses features like a gasket on the lens mount. It feels like it would cost Canon next to nothing to add this but they will not. This lens is perfect for general photography of the 35mm focal length suites your needs.Great in low light and can give very out of focus backgrounds when you focus closely on your subject.

This lens definitely has its charms, mainly that it's the lighter option in RF lenses (the 24-105mm weighs a ton!)It is VERY noisy when focusing, but as it doesn't really make alot of difference to me I was willing to forgive that.It doesn't seem to focus as quickly as the 50mm EF lens in the images I've been trying to take so far.... and tbh I'm not overly impressed with it being a 'macro' lens as again, the 50mn EF did a much better job imo.Still getting used to it, so perhaps I will update this as I go...... We shall see!If you have a 24-105mm then the f4 does give a reasonable bokeh/blurred background. Just depends if you want to use at f1.8/2.8 etc.

This lens has great image quality for photographs and great for shallow depth of field for both video and photos. It isn’t an L lens so it’s a bit plastic and the autofocus motor can hunt a bit and be noisey when in photo mode (turn off continuous autofocus) but it’s silent and smooth for video. It’s very lightweight and compact and is a great walkabout / street photography lens or for portraits indoors in low light conditions with the added bonus of having close focussing macro capability. All in all a good edition to the RF lens range without the expense of an “L” professional lens.

Having owned Fuji Sony Nikon and Olympus pro glass this canon rf 35mm is as sharp as any of them! Build quality is good made of plastic/polycarbonate shell which is warm to the touch and keeps weight down and unlike some metal lenses is more likely to resist a drop. Seems to be sharp at all apertures across the frame and only time will tell how the mechanics hold up. Plenty of reviews on internet most rate this lens highly but do be aware of fake sponsored reviews which choose to knock one brand or another, but I am sure they will be obvious by their detrimental language.

I love this lens. It is compact, very light, very sharp, nice bokeh and fast focusing. It's not weather sealed but I rarely use my camera in the rain so that doesn't bother me. It may not be L build quality but it is as sharp as an L lens. Some people have complained that the AF is a little noisy but that doesn't bother me either as I don't use my camera for video. At this price it should be in the bag of every EOS-R or RP owner.

I was in two minds about whether to buy this, because 35mm seemed rather a strange focal length for a full-frame macro lens. However, I’m glad I did. It’s a super little all-purpose lens and works well on my EOS R. It has the advantage of not needing an RF converter to be used with the R and RP cameras, which reduces the bulk and weight overall. For the money, I would have hoped for a lens hood and a weather-sealed mount though.

It’s cheep for a canon lens but my local camera shop let me try it out. I bought it and it’s on my Canon R most of the time. Including wedding ceremonies and parties. As a pro photographer I have a range of lenses but this as become my go to lens. Quick to focus and tack sharp if you can be bothered to move the focus point. On my Canon R it’s feather light too.

So pleased with this lens. I have been using my Canon EOS R with EF and EF-S lenses and decided to try a dedicated lens. The quality is excellent. The lens is small and light and so responsive, definitely my lens of choice for street, macro and general photography. Also like the aperture ring on the lens, might save up to get further RF lenses!

Really great small general purpose lens for the RF system. Its very sharp, focuses quickly and silently, and has very good (50%) macro capabilities. So once you strap this to your camera you have a compact, wide aperture, and sharp solution which also has macro. Love it!

This lens is superb. Yes the auto focus is a little noisy but it does not detract from the overall quality. Images are pin sharp and because of its light weight it is ideal for using in low light at a very low shutter speed. This is my standard lens for my EOS RP.

This lens is so good. Superb image quality and relatively quite light on the EOS R.A fine addition to your kit bag and the lens that's attached to my camera more than any other lens I own.

Lens spends too much time auto focussing. I may have to read the manual again!

Excellent image quality highly recommended for professionals

Cheapest RF mount lens available but sharp as a tack.
