I bought this bottle for walks in warm weather. On warm days you need extra water, so I wanted a one-litre bottle. I wanted it to be insulated because water in a single-walled bottle becomes unpleasantly warm after a few hours in the sun. This bottle fitted the bill.I was also attracted by its double cap. I like bottles with a wide mouth to facilitate drying and cleaning, but it is more straightforward to drink from a bottle with a small aperture. The double cap offers the best of both worlds. The double cap on this bottle also sports a sturdy carry handle and a magnetic feature (hence the "Mag" in the name) which keeps the small cap from flopping against your face when you tilt the bottle up to drink. Both caps are screw-on so they are secure against leaks, unlike a flip-top cap.The bottle looks compact for its volume, at least when set next to my Stanley vacuum flask which has half the capacity. This made me doubt whether the CamelBak has a capacity of one litre as advertised. To start with, the one-litre figure is incorrect even though it is imprinted on the bottom of the bottle as the metric equivalent of 32 ounces. 32 fluid ounces translates to 0.95 litres. I do not have the means to accurately measure volume, so as an alternative I stood the bottle on an electronic scale, zeroed the displayed weight, and filled the bottle with water. In secondary school I was taught that one litre of water weighs one kilogram, so this is the weight that should have been displayed on the scale with the bottle full.Filling the bottle up to just below the neck, that is to say about an inch down from the top, gave a reading of 912 grams. Filling the bottle right up to the top increased the weight to 963 g, but this is unrealistic as a measure of capacity because you need some clearance to screw the cap on. This admittedly rough-and-ready test indicates that the bottle's capacity is definitely less than one litre and, in practice, it falls slightly short even of the lesser figure of 0.95 litres. This is a marginal issue, however. What matters more is whether the bottle succeeds in keeping its contents at a constant temperature. CamelBak says this bottle can keep drinks cold for 24 hours and hot for six. I have not tested this, but I have used the bottle on walks lasting several hours on sunny days when temperatures in the shade were in the upper 20s Celsius (actual temperatures in the sun would have been considerably higher) and it kept my water cold. The downside of this bottle is its weight. It comes to 479 g empty, or almost half a kilogram. However, you cannot expect an insulated stainless steel bottle of this size to be lightweight. Interestingly, the measured weight of this bottle is less than its official weight of 493 g as given by CamelBak on its website. Most of my gear weighs more than advertised—this bottle is one of the few exceptions.

I love to have water with me. The problem is that the containers either are too hard to get into especially when I only have one hand available, or they spill on me, or the caps flap back onto my face making me dribble water all over. Let's see how this container performed.WHAT IS THIS BOTTLE LIKE?This bottle is thick. It is stainless steel with a painted black bottom on it. It has a wide opening of about 2 1/4 inches wide. It is double walled and stainless steel inside too. The top is thick plastic. It has a handle built into it, and it screws onto the bottom nicely. The cap of the bottle screws on with inside threads (not outside)and it snaps back so that a magnet holds the cap against the side of the top so it stays out of the way when drinking.HOW DOES THIS PERFORM?This container is amazing. I have put cold water in the bottle with no ice and after about four hours in close to 100 degrees the water was still cool. I have put ice in this container and the water has stayed cold for two days- although it was not near 100 degrees all of that time. The handle is easy to carry, and the cap stays out of the way perfectly. This is easy to drink from and I am thriled that it also fits into my car cup holders without tipping over. That may not be the case with every car, but with mine it is.EASY TO CLEANThe opening is large enough to get a good bottle brush in there to clean it with. It is wider than many other containers I have used.ANY PROBLEMS?The only thing I am not fond of is the plastic piece that folds to hold the cap onto the container. It seems like a flimsy connection of plastic and I can see it breaking down quickly. I will update my review should that happen.THE BOTTOM LINEFor a nice sturdy container to keep liquids cold for at least a day or more, this is a wonderful purchase. It is easy to carry, great to drink from and has a large enough hole to make it easy to clean too.MY RATINGFIVE STARS! This is my favorite container of this type so far.

I like my ice water. And, I want it to stay ice cold all day and night because I like to sip water througout the night whenever I wake up. So, I've been on a quest to find the perfect thermo water bottle that will keep the ice and water cold for a long, long time. What I like about this is that it has a lid that closes vs. a plastic lid you sip through, with a handle, that makes it easy to carry around without spilling. The drinking spout has it's own cap that snaps on and flips off for easy drinking plus screws tight for carrying. I thought the lid would keep the ice longer than the thermo mug with the plastic lid, but it's about the same.I can fill it with ice in the morning and continue to add water throughout the day and there's still some ice fragments the next morning. So, it lives up to its promise to keep water and ice cold for 24 hours. What I love is the flip off lid over the water spout because it is magnitized to keep the lid from flapping and hitting me in the face while drinking. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner? All water bottles would have this. What I don't like is that the width is too wide for my car cup holder. Honestly, I thought all mug and water bottle designers took into consideration the width to cup holder ratio. Sadly, it's just not convenient to take this on the road with me.If this was made with a thinner bottom, I'd give it five stars.I haven't used it for hot beverages, and probably won't because of the drink spout. I would probably end up burning my lips because you can't see where the liquid is. This appears to be designed for cold beverages and people on foot.

I have several CamelBak products which have held up magnificently so I was glad to try this water bottle in exchange for this unbiased review. How is THIS water bottle a step up from what you may already be using?1. The double-walled insulated stainless design keeps the contents good and cold. I added a couple of cubes of ice prior to a 50 mile road bike ride and the ice cubes were still there at the end of the ride. Presumably it would keep hot beverages hot just as well and I can see filling it with coffee or hot cocoa on a camping trip.2. The mouth is at an angle so you don't have to dangle it over your head like Damocles' sword to get a drink out of it!3.That mouth is also nice and wide and the water just POURS out of it - no gurgling.4. The cap is magnetic and when you take it off it stays put so that you won't lose it.5. The cap removes with a slight twist that the threads a INSIDE the mouth rather than outside - this means that your lips only touch the smooth mouth rather than threads. The one I received holds a generous 32 ounces, and I see that it also goes up to 40 ounces or as small as 12. The 32 ounce size is too large to fit in a standard car cup holder or in a bicycle cage, but I see that the 20 ounce size will. I think I'll get one for that very purpose! (I put the 32 ounce bottle inside a CamelBak MULE hydration pack pouch for the above mentioned 50 mile ride to test "how long will the ice stay ice"... but it would be nicer to have my hydration strapped to my bicycle frame.)CamelBak: you've set the bar another notch higher.

This has become my new water bottle, and I absolutely love it. I find that with 20 ounces, I end up running out if I go to work out and then have a work obligation afterwards that keeps me out for a while. This 32 ounce size is perfect. The design is stellar. I like that I can drop it on the ground or in my driveway, which I have done many times, and it is still perfectly fine and doesn't even show any noticeable scuffing. What I found frustrating about my previous water bottle is that I would take the lid off at the gym and on a clumsy day, drop it on the floor face down to where the part that actually touches the water was touching the floor of the gym, which is disgusting. This water bottle does not have that issue, because the Is attached. It also has a little magnetic thing to where the lid quickly attaches magnetically to the carrying handle in a split second and and another split second and with no real force comes often goes back on the top. So the lid not only doesn't fall on the floor, but it doesn't bonk me on the nose either. This is thoughtful design at its best. It has solved numerous problems with previous iterations of water bottle designs. It is easy to clean because the widemouth lid comes off easily, and easy to drink from with the smaller lid. I love the little carrying handle, and it does seem to keep my beverages cool. I can't say enough about how much I love this water bottle. I haven't used my other one since I got this.

In my picture the 32 oz is on the left and 40 on the right. The design is great. Large opening to clean, small opening to drink. Easy design to drink from by holding at the neck with my hand under the handle. The fact that it has a handle is very convenient. Don't forget to screw the lid on, because it will look like it is closed but then leak if it is not actually screwed on.I love that the lid is attached so I don't have to worry about putting it down somewhere dirty or losing it etc.. However, the cap is my only concern. You can see in my closeup picture that the hinge part of the plastic is as this as possible. How long of opening and closing will it last before it just snaps and I need a new one?3 months, so far so good.I got the 32oz thinking it would be the same width as a 32oz Nalgene which fit perfectly in my car cup holder, but this one is skinnier so it almost falls over which is why I bought the 40 oz, which, for 8 more oz, is much wider and does not fit in my cup holder. I stick with the 32 because the 40 oz is actually just heavier and just harder enough to hold to make me prefer the 32 on a daily basis. I have big hands and feel like the 40 is just a little too big and I don't want to drop it because a dent isn't coming out. I use the 40 if I am going on a trip and want more water.yeah it keeps stuff cold blah blah blah, but I'm not about to do an ice test.Overall, my favorite design for a water bottle.

Added August 2020:Still the best in my opinion. Just got another 20oz for the kiddo. The new lid is in the pics and is much better in my opinion. They do not unfortunately work with the old insulated Chutes. They do fit on the plastic ones. Great bottle. I’ll be ordering and using these until they stop making them.OK CamelBack faithful... First the Forge for your coffee.... Now the Chute has been perfected!! I've got 20 or so of the various different bottles they have put out over the last few years. They have all functioned but had issues. The one with the straw and bite valve is a pain and impossible to get a great swig out of. The flip down tops leak etc.Never really had a great design.Wife has the original version of this Chute. The spout is fantastic but the lid is a bit annoying and the snap feature that is supposed to hold the lid out of your way is more trouble than it's worth. She 9And I when I steal it) end up just using your index finger to push it out of the way. They could make it detachable and sell thousands of replacements, but that's not what the brand is about. They have sent me free replacement parts for other products with zero questions asked. This new lid however has to be considered nearly perfect. It stays out of the way and closes very easily. My only concern I guess would be the longevity of the folded plastic that holds it on. We shall see how log that holds up.

Bought two of these about 6 months ago, one for me & one for the girlfriend. We only use them for ice water, so I can’t comment on how well these keep liquids hot. That being said, they are AMAZING at keeping liquids cold. I can fill it with ice & water on a Monday morning and I’ll still have ice in it Tuesday evening! The mag lid works perfectly to keep the cap out of your way while drinking. Definitely a great product, except for one tiny issue. As you can see in the pictures, the o-ring/seal on the lid keeps coming out! While it does continue to keep the water nice & cold, any time you tilt the bottle to drink, it leaks! Huge problem if the bottle isn’t sitting upright, as I learned the hard way.Left the bottle on the passenger seat of my car in parking garage at the airport (didn’t want to risk having TSA make me toss the bottle). Went on vacation for five days and when I came back it had leaked and completely soaked my car seat. The whole car reeked of mildew for a couple of days until it dried out. I know I can purchase a replacement cap, but only in black. The leaking cap is on my gf’s coral bottle so I would love to get another cap in coral, but that’s not available.I give the product 4 stars instead of 5 due to the leaking issue. Still a great product, but needs some help with the lid!

I have become something of a water bottle hoarder recently. I'm obsessed with finding a water bottle big enough to get me through most days but that will also keep y water icy cold--the way I prefer to drink it. This water bottle is my currentface, and it's going to take a lot yo move it out of daily use.The bottle holds a generous amount, so I've actually had to be careful not to add too much ice in the mornings. The bottle keeps everything so cold that the ice doesn't melt, so if I've got too much, I dont get to drink any water. I'm finding that 5-7 cubes is the right amountfor a day. Anything beyond that, and I've got ice for the next day.I want a fan of the cap at first because it twists on and off, making it a little more difficult to use when driving. But you get used to it after a while. I do love the little magnetic like top that helps to holdthe lid bbn outbnb of your way when you're drinking. I also like that the bottle opens two ways...a larger opening for ice and the smaller drinking spout. It makes it fairly easy to clean and fairly fast to fill (esp with ice). I also love the carrying handle, as the bottle itself is a little wide to hold in hand for extended periods while you're moving about (though it's a fine size for drinking).

Been looking for something a little bigger than my 24oz Hydro Flask for workouts. This fits the bill, and does so with a bonus: the magnetic screw off cap is attached with a plastic flap that can fold back and allow the cap to attached (again, magnetically) to the handle. This little change makes all the difference. I love my Hydro Flask, but find I've dropped the cap on the gym floor a few times which then makes me not want to put it back on the bottle. In the middle of a workout, however, that's a pain.32oz is perfect for water, ice, beer, etc. Nice and big. That said, it does not fit very well in most of the car cupholders we have tried. So, this CamelBak flask had proven a great alternative. The cap screws off, revealing a wide mouth for filling, or drinking if you aren't being active. But with the cap on, the smaller screw cap is great to help prevent spills, use during workouts, etc.It seems to stay cold just as long as my Hydro Flask, too, which is good; and the black grip on the bottom half (and the handle on the cap) make it easy to carry--becasue otherwise stainless steel can be a bit slippery.

This is a pretty heavy duty water bottle! The vacuum insulation really keeps cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot for hours at a a time. The top section of the bottle is stainless and the bottom section has a powder paint -- for good looks and a bit of texture to grip. The cap and lid are completely leak proof. The cap twists off and is held out of the way with a magnet so you can drink without it getting in the way or getting lost. It's easy to take the cap off and on and the spout doesn't dribble when you drink from it. Overall, a well designed lid, cap, and spout. The entire bottle and lid are easy to clean. I prefer stainless steel water bottles as they don't hold odors very easily and,if they do get a little funky, they are easy to deodorize with water and vinegar. This bottle is a bit too large to fit into the cup holders in my car. When filled with water, it weighs in at three pounds -- so maybe not the best option for packing on a hike if you don't want to be weighed down. This bottle is hefty and not the most portable. However, it is great at temperature control and is very well designed.

I buy a lot of water bottles, I have a bit of a problem. I'm always looking for that perfect companion to live in my backpack, keep stuff closed, and not leak or sweat, with a great easy cap system. This FINALLY hits all the points for a great on-the-go water bottle. The size is great for the amount it holds (a little too big for most cupholders though) with a wide mouth opening that makes adding ice a breeze.Wow, that lid and cap system. The lid has a great handle that'll attach to a carabiner and makes reaching into your bag to grab it easy. The SUPER SMART way the magnet keeps the cap from hitting you as you drink is just genius. I love that you can flip the cap up and give it a half turn, keeping it closed enough that a tip over wouldn't be disastrous and water won't slosh out while walking with it full in your hand, but you'll need to crank it closed if you're throwing it in your bag. The water flow form the opening is awesome, and the threads are internal so you won't feel them on your lips.Really, really happy I got this after hearing about how awesome the Chute is. Highly recommended!

This is a sturdy and attractive bottle. I've only had it for two months, so I can't attest to whether the cap mechanism will hold up over time, but for the moment it's working quite well. It's unexpectedly nice not to be getting smacked in the face with your water bottle cap.I keep mine in a tote bag. Originally I was using it during to and from work commutes, but that doesn't work very well - the diameter of the bottom is too wide to fit comfortably into my cupholder and after a few times of having it tumble out and roll under a seat I gave up. I use my coffee mug for travel, and keep this one for my desk (or for camping/outdoors activities, it works great for that!)I have dropped it on the floor,on the cement, and in the dirt while camping with no adverse effects. It keeps water or whatever you put into it, cold for a nice long time. I like the grip surface of the base, and I found it no trouble at all to hand wash (esp since mostly I use it for water.) I imagine if you had sweet tea or something in here, it would be much more irritating to have to hand wash it.

I have dozens of tumblers and water bottles, including a couple of the 20 ounce version of the Chute with the old cap style. I never liked the plastic ring that kept the cap from being lost and I also could never easily attach it to the lid. I removed the ring and have been happy just using it that way. The use of a magnet to keep the cap on the bottle is cool and better than the old ring, but it doesn't really grab as strongly as I expected. It could probably use a stronger magnet.I like water bottles with a small spout, because they let me drink a lot of water quickly without dribbling water all over myself. Bottles with wider openings, like Hydro Flasks, force me to drink out of them a bit slower.I know Hydro Flasks have sports-style caps, but I don't like those either unless I'm actually out playing sports, in which case, I prefer lighter, plastic bottles. The double-walled stainless steel bottle on the Chute does a great job of keeping water cold for hours. The powder coat paint also holds up very well; my old bottles still look new.

I don't know how many water bottles I have had in the past that let me down. They leaked or had a ridiculous shape or size that made transport difficult. Often drinking from these bottles has entailed a sudden rush of fluid splashing down my chin and on my shirt. This CamelBak Chute Mag Stainless Water Bottle does none of this and I love it! It has a chute spout that doesn't allow a tidal wave of drink to splash out of my mouth and onto my face. I really like ice water and cold drinks and being able to have cold water to sip all night is wonderful. Being able to take ice water to work and have it cold all day is wonderful. Also, it is great to grind my own coffee beans and after making excellent hot coffee,to be able to have a decent container of hot coffee all morning at the office. The size and shape makes for easy transport. It's not the easiest to clean but it beats the clumsy, over-sized easy to clean thermal bottles.
