These binos are surprisingly light for the size. These of course are impossible to use while handheld...at least for me they are.I have an old off brand all aluminum tripod being well made and very solid that's perfect for these.First night out I could see the need for collimating the Barska 20x80'sI fiddled with the screws for the prisms during daylight trying to focus on a light pole about 1\2 mile away.Wasn't too sure if my hurried adjustments did anything. When I looked thru the binoculars the following night to my surprise I had no more doubled images!Got lucky I guess.I really enjoy these binoculars especially mounted on a good tripod. The wife and I enjoy looking thru these night and day.Ithink they are just right for us.Good alternative to a hard to use small telescope.

Clarity is great and the magnification is great as well. Only reason I didn't give a 5 is because I hadn't anticipated the physical size. We don't have a tripod (and typically when pulling out binoculars to zoom in on something a tripod isn't particularly handy), these binoculars are very large and require some stability to hold them up. Having said that, we really wanted them for the cottage as we have loons, deer, and other wildlife, so they work well.

I opted to buy the Barska X-Trail 20 x 80 because it was half the price of the Celestron SkyMaster 20 x 80. I like the optics on the Barska. It brings in a bright light. However, it's true, it cannot focus sharply on objects 70ft away or less. Now ... I wonder if the grass is greener on the other side; that is, would the Celestron Skymaster 20 X 80 have been a better purchase to bring in sharper focus on objects 70 feet away or less?

I purchased these in 2012, and they are still working fine in 2019. I've gone on several road trips and they have been stored in luggage on flights, and they haven't broken yet. The binoculars are great for looking at the moon, stars, and distant animals and landscapes. They require a tripod because their weight makes them shaky to hold, and they are impractical for fast moving or nearby objects.

Works very, very well. I bought it for whale watching from my terrace and am very pleased. It is heavy and really needs a sturdy tripod to get a clear view. At 20x any vibration is very noticeable. At that size and price I wouldn't think it could take much abuse. For my stationary purpose it's great.

I decided to replace my starter telescope with that narrow field of view for this Barska wide-view and powerful 20x80 field of view for basic astronomy-gazing. I am very happy to say the optics are great and really enjoy the clarity these binos offer. I am very happy with this purchase.

Had to send one back because of the flaring, and ordered another. The second bino was a bit miscollimated and required a bit of fiddling with the screws under the rubber. It does show chromatic aberration, especially when mounted on a tripod, but for $55 I can live with that.

These were larger than I expected but an awesome deal I found on Thanksgiving Lightning deals. I opened the package when I got it to check them out and they work AWESOME!Make sure you get a tri-pod to go with them. The side makes it awkward to use without one.

A real, good material and huge binocular. Can be used during the day or astronomy. I can see barely Jupiter and their moons and Saturn as well, but you must have a tripod for better visual. It's easy to calibrate and not heavy. I really recommend it.

They're great for my astronomical viewing and wowed me during the Eclipse. They're heavy but that's ok. Glad to have 'em. I also have a camera tripod that I use with them. Gary
