Kinda' long, but informational. Bear with me.Another reviewer based their entire review on the existence of a blue, to me cyan tint. They should have researched a little deeper or called Barska first before jumping up and and down whining about, what I am about to explain, is a minor artifact common to this design. This tint is caused by the additional coatings applied to binoculars primarily used in day light, to filter UV radiation. It increases contrast in the process. Let's look at what is the primary purpose of binoculars. 1 Gather light to increase brightness. 2 Increase the resolution of your eyesight. 3 Magnify the image so it appears larger, thereby increasing resolution. That's it,90% of their purpose. If you need binoculars that affect image color as little as possible, like for birding, research deeper to make sure you don't end up with anti-UV coatings. And, if they actually read the warranty they'd seen they could have returned them and maybe opted for something else. Now, the neck strap was mentioned and they could have done better, but they are less than $40 here on Amazon, there it is. Get a nice camera strap as suggested. If you don't use a neck strap like a lot of people, you'll save a few bucks. My issue is with the lubricants, they are very stiff at freezing temperatures. If you're going to use these in warmer climates this is not an issue, but if you are using them in cold climates, look elsewhere and spend more money. On that same line, the focusing mechanism could be a little more rigid to stay in alignment better like another reviewer said, but honestly, if you're mashing your eyes that hard into the eyepieces you should learn how to use binoculars in the first place, after all, they're under $40.Now, the acid test. After warming them up a little, they were outside in the cold while I was at work, I took them outside at night. Now keep in mind these are daylight binoculars, only 42mm objectives, not much light gathering power here, or so you'd think. I looked at distant lights to focus, which was effortless. Let me clarify, that does not mean they are hard to focus, that's easy to make an optical assembly do. The hard part is keeping the field viewed optically flat and without false color and other aberrations thereby forcing you to tweak the focus here, then there a little to get a decent "average" focus, then when you refocus for a different distance you have to do it all over again. That... is not effortless. These on the other hand snapped into sharp focus across the whole field, BAM! End of story. From $40 binoculars. Now to "Throw them to the wolves". Skyword they went. Stars will expose a telescopic optical systems faults so quick and thoroughly it's not funny, especially if you spent a lot of money for it, which i didn't. First was the Pleiades (M45) star cluster. A quick, and effortless focus and dozens of tiny stars snap into tack-sharp points of light. The width of field looked good but now for a test for that. I scanned down to the Hyades cluster that makes up the head of the constellation Taurus the bull, as far as star clusters go it's big. They took in almost the whole shebang, wow, that's wide. Finally light gathering and transfer ability, how much light they collect and how much makes it to your eyes. Now I didn't think they could do this next test and I almost considered skipping it because after all, they're only 42mm. I pointed them at a nebula that usually needs at least 50mm to be seen, the North America Nebula in Cygnus about 40 degrees above the horizon in the western sky. Too low for this object that more often needs to be very high in the sky to be seen in binoculars, on top of that. What do you think? Did he see it? Yeah, I did, easily. They defied any common sense and showed it. I've never seen such small binoculars do this. Now, I am an experienced observer and my night vision is excellent, but because of the high quality coatings and contrast improvements to their design it was, well effortless. Again, $40 binoculars. I can hardly wait for the Barska 9x63 Blackhawk binoculars to arrive, they should be amazing for the night sky.

As someone with little experience using binoculars, I was looking for an inexpensive pair for casual birding and to take along with me on hikes. I am generally very happy with these binoculars, though there are a few issues that I would seemingly cost only a few dollars to remedy, and that would easily justify a modest increase in price. Please keep in mind that my review is from the perspective of a novice user, so I would read elsewhere if you are looking for commentary on the technical details and specs.Pros: A lot of bang for your buck. The binoculars do not feel cheap, like I had imagined they would. Instead they feel durable, like they can be knocked around a bit without causing problems. They provide a clear view of birds from a pretty good distance, and I find them comfortable to us with or without my eyeglasses. It is also very easy to focus quickly on objects, especially after getting a feel for how they work.Cons: The strap that the binoculars come with is terrible, and broke after only a few uses due to fraying. It feels cheap. I ended up spending a few dollars for a better camera/binocular strap, which was well worth it. The lens covers are also too loose, and fall off on their own all the time, including just about every time I take them out of their case. Finally, the case feels cheap, though it is adequate considering the price, and how solid the binoculars themselves are.

I recently have been enjoying hiking and finding new birds. After some research I settled on these. I am so glad I did. These are not little pocket binoculars, they are heavier but not so heavy you will notice them on anything but a full out full day hike. I have had no issues with blurriness as some of the other posters had suggested. They are sturdy and well made. Feel solid in your hands. If your going to look at birds I would highly suggest these. These out performed my "birder" friends $150 binoculars hands down.

Nice and clear... Caps are a very loose fit.. But they stay on while in the bag, good enough for me.. Great value.. Other reviewers complain about their inability to focus the right eye properly... It's just because they're stupido morons... These do not auto focus you nincompoops, you gotta adjust it yourself with your own fingers.. Good grief... These people should not be allowed to purchase anything online.. We need a national registry for online shopping dufuses.

They're good. For the price, you can't beat them. A huge plus is they are made in the USA, although it's kind of hard to verify. I use them in the truck and at the lake house for general use. They are a little heavy, so if you're old and planning to carry them around all day, you might want to spend more money on a lighter pair. That said, for general every day, don't care if I drop them in a puddle or run over them with the truck binoculars, these fit the bill.

Love these; easy to use and clarity is great. These are the right size and we like the fact the protectors over the lens fit perfect and don't fall off like others we purchased. PS: Best price we found was on Amazon. We got these because we travel in our motorhome and left without one of our 5 other binoculars. Just what we needed another pair but we love them so it was a good buy. Much better than some we paid more for.

I was looking for an inexpensive binocular and came across these. I was amazed at the clarity and quality for less than £40. Whilst the minimum distance is stated as 10 metres, I can use these to check the birds on the feeders at 5 metres. Although it has the facility for a tripod adapter, I haven't found it necessary for distance viewing in the local nature reserve.

These are an awesome deal. They are really sharp and the price is so much lower than the competitors brands. I actually got these for my child but the only downside is that they weight more than what's comfortable for him to wear. I guess I'll be wearing them when we go on our nature walks & be passing them to him when he requests. Other than weight love them!

I bought these as the "deal of the day". I think I paid under $50.00 for them. They are worth every penny. They are a little on the heavy side, but I like that. They don't feel like they are cheaply made. Very sturdy pair of binoculars. Great product

These seems to be quite nice for the price. They are clear and crisp. They do have some wight to them but that is one of the reasons i wanted to get them because i myself am not a big fan of light binoculars. All round good product for the price.

Purchased this for my father to replace an old pair. I used the binoculars a few months ago during a hike and was blown away by how superior these are to his older pair. Im tinkering with the idea of buying myself a pair.

Jackpot! With so many choices, I was worried if I would like these, but I am so very pleased. Crystal clear, sturdy and a great price! Really impressed with these! One of my favorite purchases yet!!

It is a very good pair of binoculars as it is simple to use. It's specifications are extremely good for outdoor use specially for wildlife viewing for which I had specifically purchased.

Bought this for my 9 year old son. Well made. Good optics. Nice lens covers and case. Didn't want to break the bank, but didn't want cheap binoculars either. These were perfect

For the price, this is an excellent buy. I have a 10x25 which I like. However, the clarity and sharpness of the Barska 8x42is excellent. It is great for birding.
