I've only had these for a few hours, but know quite a bit about optics. I've seen the bad reviews discussing collimation being out of alignment. I guess I got lucky as mine work perfectly. The Good:The clarity of the focus, once you get both eyes dialed in, is quite excellent; very clear and sharp focus. The closest you can focus is on objects at about 30 (+/-) feet away. From there and beyond the focus is quite good, but I've not yet tested infinity focus. I work in a fire lookout tower and will be able to test their distance focus tomorrow (will update review if things change).* The 15X magnification is spectacular, but anything above 12x becomes difficult to hand-hold steadily when viewing distant objects. The trick is to rest the top of the eyepieces against your brow, using both your head and hands to stabilize the image. If you're using them for astronomy, a tripod is an absolute necessity. Also, if you plan on holding them up for long periods of time, your arms will undoubtedly get tired (see next paragraph). The Bad:* They are heavy, which is to be expected with two 70mm objective lenses. But the strap that comes with them might as well be a shoestring. It would be unbearable to wear these around your neck for any length of time using the included strap, without severing your jugular :). I stole the wide/padded strap from my Nikon DSLR - problem solved.* The two front lens covers, protecting the objective lenses fit perfectly snug, but they also come with a single, oblong shaped cover that goes over both of the eyepiece lenses (one cover - two lenses). This cover is garbage and difficult to use without stretching either the cover itself, or deforming the eyepiece rubber (or both). I wear glasses and always fold my eyepiece rubber back, over which the oblong cover still fits oddly - but it's usable.* The nylon case just barely fits around the binoculars - especially the objective lenses. It takes a bit of work to wiggle them into the case - but they will eventually make it in. I would not call this a protective case - more of a carrying case, as it would not protect the binoculars against drops and knocks. But, at least the binoculars won't get scratched as they slam into the floor. The case does have a strap on it to make carrying them easier.

These things are a GREAT deal. Especially considering the company selling them probably only got $40 for them after shipping and Amazon fees! The good:-I'm a big guy but I do not find them terribly heavy.-The mini tri-pod is also pretty useful.-So far they have helped me find a couple star clusters. The bad is-the eyepiece covers do not have a ton of room between eachother. They're tight over my nose. Oddly I've gotten almost used to it.-whoever packed the box for Amazon was having a bad day. They put the Barska box inside a larger box with four or five air cushions in it. The air cushions popped of course and the box was sliding about inside a box leading to some Styrofoam imprints.-the design of that one piece cover for the two eyepieces is silly.I bet it doesn't even save them money, it just makes it problematic to keep them covered.

I found these binoculars to give a clear and detailed area of focus. They are very large, but I can still use them when bird watching, although a good steady tripod should be used. I could see craters in detail on the moon and stars came into view that you could not see with the naked eye. I cannot afford the other brands but this BARSKA X Trail was well worth the money. The focus is steady and precise but the weight of the binoculars puts allot of stress on the adapter a longer and more precise screw socket would be helpful but being careful with it should keep the adapter from moving. The tripod is not very fancy but works.

I have binoculars from Nikon, Bushnell, and others. All my binoculars have shortcomings, none are perfect. But believe me, money will not buy better than this.Update: After years of use, they develop problems with the optics and finish.1- rubberized finish became sticky and stains anything they touch.2- Optics lost the pristine clarity and became foggy. For the money they were great, but not for a long time.

The rubber eye cups seem to be more conducive to wearing glasses than for without glasses. Overall, clarity and light gather ability are excellent. Former statements about "touchy focus" is true, however, I don't see this as a determent to these binoculars.

This is great price on these binoculars. They work well and this is the 2nd pair I purchased. I bought a pair for myself and my son in law seen them and had me order him a pair. The shipping was fast also.

work great probly never use tripod but adapter connects to tall camera tripod which I will use as I can't hand hold steady enough (I have Parkinsons)

I was pleased with the performance, the field of vision, and the light weight. Carrying case leaves a lot to be desired, as does the shoulder strap.

Does the job with very good clarity, I used it recently as a spotting scope and it worked just fine. Great for bird watching because it's clear.

These are clear and work great. The only bad, is the smaller eye piece cover DOES NOT FIT. So, there's your trade off for the price.

I use this at the target range and while hunting. Best used with tri-pod, or it very hard to focus on an item it is very jerky,

These are quite large ,but are worth the money I paid for them. They are very well made and have a rugged constuction to them.

Great deal for the money. No cheap parts. You will need a full size tripod with these as the are too heavy for star gazing.
