I have a 2015 Raleigh Tokul 2 27.5" mountain bike. I needed more liquid than a 24 oz. Polar Bottle (that's really more like 21 oz.) would hold and I don't really want a hydration backpack... although I know I'll have to get one eventually. Since my bike is a small frame (I'm only 5'9"), I don't have a place for a 2nd water bottle. I can't mount one on the handlebars or behind my seat as it will never hold up to the torture of mountain biking. After much searching I came across this bottle. It's not insulated but what I do is fill it up until the middle of the detent and put it in the freezer. I top it off right before the ride. This keeps the liquid cold through 2/3 of the ride.It doesn't hold 33 oz.; more like 31 oz. 31 oz. is better than 21 oz., however, and this is the only water bottle I've found over 24 oz. that fits into a standard bike bottle cage. I do not have any problems with leaking as I ordered the clear bottle as other reviewers have stated.Interestingly enough, there is zero mention of this bottle on Zefal's website. My guess is that a 3rd-party makes the bottle for Zefal and Zefal just puts their name on it. Much like when you buy a certain brand sneakers from a discount shoe store but when searching said brand's website for those shoes, they are nowhere to be found.Anyway, four stars for fitting into a standard bike cage, no leaks, but holding less liquid than advertised.

Many of my rides are unsupported long solo rides in rural areas where potable water is hard to find. These magnum water bottles are great for making it between water sources. Like a couple of other reviewers, I dropped a bottle (it was empty) and it landed on the bite valve and the lid cracked. That was disappointing, but when I emailed Zefal to see if I could buy just a lid, they sent me a new one free of charge. That is great customer service. While waiting for the new lid to arrive, I tried fixing the broken one with a glue gun. It kind of worked and stopped the majority of the leak, but wasn't quite satisfactory.I then used a soldering iron to melt the plastic along the crack. If I needed some extra material, I carved it from the outer edge of the lid where it doesn't affect the seal. This worked great. The idea came from a youtube video where a guy repairs small engine gasoline tanks. I now have a repaired lid that works and doesn't leak, though it is ugly as anything. Working from the outside of the lid is best; working from the inside is difficult and you may end up melting the threads. The pictures are of the broken lid, the fixed lid, and a carved area.

I bought four of these about 15 years ago and I've lost a few. I've been keeping my eye out on these for the last 10 years and finally I found them. I bought four more figuring I'd give one each to some friends and keep another one for myself. The only possible complaint one could have are that they are long and so if you want to scrub out the bottom of them you need a long brush and that the indentation around the middle of the bottle is not as deep as it is in most water bottles so they don't snap in quite as securely as a regular water bottle. Actually that is how I lost one years ago. I was going down a very bumpy Hill very fast and the bottle popped out well I was going 35 or 40 miles an hour and I wasn't going to try to stop and find it as it rolled off the road into some bushes. But if you want to carry a lot of water and you don't want a Camelbak these are fantastic. Typical size larger water bottles range from 22 to 26 ounces and I think somebody might have made 28 ounce ones. The difference between a 24 ounce bottle and a 1 liter bottle is enough that on a hot day it can save you.

While I usually "only" ride about 30-40 mile trips at the most, I recently completed my first half ironman, which was a 58 mile ride, so I needed lots of water. I bought one of these and took it on several 20-30 mile rides over paved, dirt, gravel, etc. and it didn't fall out or leak. As per recommendations on other reviews, I opted to clean by hand and avoid the dish washer since some felt that might leave to a poor seal and leaks.I really like how big this is, so I bought a second one and had both on my bike. At the end of 58 miles (took me 3hrs 23mins) I had just finished both - one had water, the other had gatorade. It was a hot day, but nothing too severe (high 70s low 80s)and I wouldn't have had enough hydration with a regular bottle. No one else had something this big unless they made the jump to one of the bottles that attaches in front of the handlebars or a camelback, and even then these two together allowed me to have a large amount of electrolytes and water.Very happy so far! Hopefully they'll last me for years to come.

I bought these for the Tour Divide last year, and they held up much better than I did. I used 6 of them over about 1,500 miles (I only made it about half way through the TD). They held up in the hot sun, very dusty conditions, extremely bumpy and washboarded roads, and even a major hail storm. I had several things break along the way, but these bottle were super reliable, even the one that I dumped on rocks at 30 mph because I forgot to properly secure the bottle cage. These are just good quality, regular bike bottles. There's nothing fancy about them. They're just bigger than most. By using 6 of these instead of regular-size bottles, I had enough extra water capacity without needing a hydration bladder. If that's what you need, and it's definitely what I needed, buy them. They do what they do very well.BTW, I still use them all the time when doing my regular rides. Even with only two bottles on my bike, the extra ounces are quite welcome. The Zefal's have become my new normal.

I've sworn by Zefal water bottles for over a dozen years now. I've used them, leaks or no leaks. (It seems like after I fill the bottle and tighten the top, I can tighten it still further a few minutes later, making the bottle almost leak-free. I don't think I've ever had one that was truly leak-proof.) The things that I like best about Zefal bottles is that the plastic seems slightly more pliant, so I can squeeze them better, and the size of the mouth of the bottle. For this latest version the plastic is the same as always; the bottle mouth is not. With my older bottles, it was easy to pour handfuls of ice in; with these, it's just like every other brand--frequent bottlenecks when adding ice.I'm still a fan, but I hope with their next redesign, Zefal goes back to the old large-mouth style.

FINALLY! I finally found a larger than normal water bottle for my long bike rides! These things are massive, holding an entire liter of liquid each. This is really nice on those long rides where you might not have too many chances to stop and refill a bottle. They fit in to a standard bottle cage just fine and are easy enough to clean. I'm taking off one star because the mouth valve has a tendency to leak. When I'm shaking up my electrolyte powder, I have to put my thumb over the valve to keep it from leaking as I shake it. When you want to take a drink, you have to squeeze the bottle a bit to get the liquid to come out. Not a big deal, but some people might not like that. Overall, a solid purchase.I have two at this point and will likely buy a couple more as back-ups in the near future.

This holds a lot of water and I like that the base of it is thinner than the top so it will fit a water bottle holder of many sizes. I am on the same team as the people already who have voiced their concerns of leaking. I did determine what causes mine to leak though and that is squeezing the bottle. Since the body is made of such a soft, squeezable plastic when you squeeze the bottle it causes the part underneath the cap to collapse partially as well. When I didn't squeeze the water, it didn't leak on me. So I suppose it is important to know that it's not a perfect design, but it will work as intended.Take a chance if you need an inexpensive water bottle because it definitely hold water and sits tightly on my bike trips.

I love the size. Rather than bringing two bottles on a decent ride, I now just bring this big one as it adds those few extra gulps I usually take in a second bottle. I have a small road bike and the bottle size fits fine on my frame. I do wish the release of water was more as there’s times gasping for water and I feel like there’s more effort in drinking from this bottle but then again it’s really a first world problem. The size is great. Can’t speak of cleaning issues yet as I haven’t had it long. But I do have bottle scrubbies and bubble foam cleaner I do once in a while on all my bottles. Seems to keep them mostly clean from the hydration powder I also use.

I have a foldable full-size bike. This bottle just happens to be the exact right size to fit into the holder while assembled and even when in the holding bag.Usability is good: the lid and nipple are strong enough to remain usable after 3 months of use. Washing is somewhat difficult due to the large size and odd angles of the cap. (It's hard to describe, but there's something about the top of the bottle that keeps dirt and sand locked in and requires a thorough hand-washing after a dishwasher run.)Overall, I'm sticking with this bottle even for competitions.

Solid water bottle that I use at the gym and tennis courts. Didn't have a weird taste on the first round of drinks which is always a plus. Holds a lot of liquid, but if you are looking for something to keep your drink cool for long periods of time, look elsewhere. The trade off for not having a temperature maintaining mechanism is the bottle is really light. The only other comment I have about this bottle is that it's plastered with the word "MAGNUM" so I've had people ask me if the bottle has anything to do with condoms, which is always good for a laugh.

I wanted this bottle in order to be able to carry a few extra ounces of fluid for long rides and now that i have used the bottle a few times I am quite satisfied with the results. The bottle holds a little over a quart and easily fits in the cage on my road bike. A squeezable bottle that quickly returns to form, that is it doesn't stay kinked like other bottles i have triesThe spout is soft and easy to bite open or closedI would have preferred white or clear color over black since black heats up a little quicker. All in in all an quality item.

18.6.2015

To clear a lot of rumors about leaking Magnums, this bottle does not leak. From what I have read it is the old bottle with the gasket that leaked, this one does not have a gasket and uses a simple tried and true plastic design. Perfect solution for me as I like to go on long rides and now I won't have to carry a small backpack after buying this and a bag for my seat post. The bottle is somewhat pricey for a piece of plastic, but there really isn't any other product available that holds as much water and fits a standard bottle cage.

Living in Florida (and being in the middle of a heatwave where temps can easily reach 100°+ on the pavement) I needed extra water capacity and deplore Camelbacks. These bottles (the CLEAR ones) do NOT leak, capacity is 32 ounces, and they are HEAVY when fully loaded - 1007g. Although not insulated, if you freeze part of your contents it'll work just fine. FIVE STARS because of their capacity, they fit my Blackburn bottle cages just fine (my frame size though is 58), and they DON'T leak. Price is decent as well.

3.7.2015

The only water bottle you need!It doesn't spill, it doesn't heat up (don't EVER get a black or colored water bottle), it has the capacity of almost two bottles, and its very easy to hold - what's not to love! Also, since you can replace two water bottles with just this one, your bike becomes far more aero! Put it in the downtube and remove your other bottle from the seat tube and BAM instant aero gains. Here is an aero study about this - http://www.slowtwitch.com/mainheadings/techctr/waterbottles.html
