I took this tent out to the foot of Snowdon only a couple of days later after purchase. Despite it being very windy and rainy, the Hoolie stood up very well overnight. The inside was as dry as a bone. The inside being attached to the outer sheet also meant that the thing could be pitched very quickly without any practice. As a bona fide idiot novice at these things, even I was able to pitch this tent by myself in under 10 minutes without any instructions. It really is as simple as putting the flexi-poles through, attaching them to hoops for the groundsheet for both the inner and the outer - and done! Just use the guy ropes to give a bit of strength and shape...it really is that simple.A solid mid-level tent for morons like me, who would otherwise be using a leaky, poorly made, pop-up.

What a fantastic tent, i was a DoE instructor and used this tent numerous times, Bronze in the Lake District, Silver in Snowden and Gold for 3 weeks up in the Cairngorms. Very light weight for carry, it is a technical tent and offers confidence in extreme weather, i've been in Force 8 snow blizzards with it. Poles are strong and easy to pitch. Plenty of room in the porch area for kit and kitchen. I am now a Scout Leader and this tent is robust enough for wild camping with Scouts and hikes.. I've had mine 16 years and has never let me down. It is still completely waterproof after all this time, but i do look after my camping kit.

I used this tent at a windy beach during summer. It goes up easily, is firm in wind and has a good design with a practical use of space. Unlike what I have heard, the poles are durable and well made. The main issue, and this is significant, was that the ventilation was non-existent, turning the tent into a sauna. In fact, I ended up using it for gear storage and slept out under the stars as it was suffocatingly hot even at night. Granted, I probably could have positioned it differently to allow more breeze, but the rear vent seems too small to allow for much venting. I'm not sure if I can use it again in the summer.
