The plates are made of fairly thick porcelain, so are up to withstanding the rigours of daily use (being perfectly sized to take two slices of toast side by side without danger of toppings spilling over the edges). They also look good enough to be put to use at parties as serving platters where they have been much admired.The plates are purchased separately so a collection can be built up over time and each one arrives wrapped securely in a large box so there is no danger of breakage. They stack well although they are on the heavy side so I keep them in two separate cupboards to spread the weight a bit.
