At £165 this tent is excellent value. I took this away with my husband and two boys (who are nearly as big as me). We had loads of room in both the sleeping area and the living room area. For both ourselves and all the unnecessary stuff my husband told me not to bring but I did anyway. We are not experienced campers, but we managered to pitch it in about 15-20 in high wind. There are only 3 tent poles, so it's quick and easy, it's just the pegging that is a little fiddly. Initially I did get the poles wrong because I couldn't see the colour coding. Then we realised one had a patch of grey on it whereas the others are all black. We had very high winds and rain all weekend, but the tent stood up really well to this.Unfortunately the tent took the brunt of the wind and rain in one corner, putting strain on one tent peg in particular. The ground around this peg flooded and with a combination of soft ground and driving winds, the peg did come out a few times in the night causing that side to collapse slightly. The inner wall felt damp where the rain had pooled but amazingly, no leaks. The rest of the tent stayed dry and solid and the bedroom area was surprisingly warm. Some reviews have said that the ground sheet overlaps the flysheet to create a seal. This is not true. The overlap does keep the wind to a minimum, but bugs can still get in (see picture). This is minimised by the design though and we only had one spider and a few ants. The bedroom, is totally sealed. One thing I noticed on Amazon is that the second picture is of a different tent. There is no mesh to the front of the tent. One of the 2 side doors has netting and there are 4 mesh windows in the bedroom area (2 which can be zipped up if it's cold). The zips on the outer doors get a bit stuck in the fabric of the tent sometimes and the zip of the mosquito net runs all the way along the bottom of the door. This does allow you to completely open the door, but it is annoying if you have a bad back.Overall though, it's easy to pitch, large, comfortable inside space, warm, but allows in some breeze if you want it. I would recommend it.Happy camping...

Easy to put up. I didn't bother with reading the instructions. I erected the tent in about 30-40 min in my garden, on my own and put it down (dismantled) again in about 10 mins. Yes it even went back in the back without much effort at all. I am sure I will get quicker with time (or help for that matter!). It is yet to be used in anger (camping tripped booked for Norfolk in a weeks’ time), so will let you know how I got on with it. Reviews often mention getting a wet-drip down your back in the morning, post rain or dew soaked tent. If that is the case, I was looking at using the Vango Adventure Tarp, to pair with this. Overall good build. Like all tunnel tents of this design, the main difficulty is extracting the tent poles without damaging the shock cord. It’s just one of the quirks of owning a tunnel tent. Point to note, there isn't a divider in the bedroom section (there wasn't supposed to be one, but if you need one, buy it separate). I also purchased the Vango carpet to go with this (240 x 300), and fits a treat in the bedroom area. The lantern hanging hoop was only in the bedroom and not the living area (although I might of missed it, in my first over-view). The living space is adequate for 2 people (more glamping, than camping), it will be a squeeze for any more!

I actually bought this for my son as the tent he was using last year collapsed at a festival. He reports that with the aid of extra strong hard ground pegs this tent stood up to festival goers tripping over the guy lines and falling against it with no ill effects and is impressed with the overall quality. Before trying it out he was dubious about the amount of space, as the previous supposedly 5 man tent had been cramped for 4, but he was extremely pleased with the space in the Vango Beta 550XL, especially since 6 people could also comfortably sit in the porch area.

Fabulous tent. I have now used it for 2 x long weekend breaks with two young children. Easy to put up/dismantle & I found the bedroom area more than adequate for 2 double airbeds - although I used a double and a single, & the living area spacious. It has stood up to gale force wind/torrential rain & intense heat & still looks brand new.As another reviewer has stated a tarp for the opening would be a good idea & I also intend getting a footprint - although there doesn't seem to be one advertised for this model.

Good tent and packs away to what is pretty small for such a large tent. takes about 15 mins to put up and the same to take down for two people once you have the hang of it. The groundsheet is not sown in but this did not seem to make a great deal of difference as no insects were mae their way in. You can leave the groundsheet and sleeping compartment all hooked up and just drop the tent and roll it up without taking it all to bits. Take some careful folding to get it to fit in the supplied bag every time.

Very well made tent, it tipped down and we were perfectly dry. Perfect for 2 adults and one 3yr old for a short break. no room in the sleeping compartment for any bags though but I took ziplock clothes storage bags which I left in the living area and everything stayed nice and dry. The tent looked really good too. Great head room and no rain water could get in from under the ground sheet, great design.

For the money it’s well worth it. Very spacious and never felt any rain drops coming through even on very heavy rains. The only downfall is the draft coming from the bedroom area.

Easy to put up and pack away. Survived a very stormy night, still dry and intact!
