I have just moved to Spain, so am preparing for a hot summer! We have an upper tiled terrace, which was too hot last summer during the day to spend any time up there despite a gentle breeze. So, I invested in a cantilevered sun shade from Amazon UK. Yes, they deliver to Spain! Downside; the base weights can’t be delivered to Spain! (More about base weights later)First impressions; I wasn’t sure if the 3.5 Metre canopy would be too big. However, once it is up it covers two sun loungers nicely and is high enough to give plenty of head room when bobbing up and down to fill the drinks glasses! For the price amazing value for money! Now, onto securing the sun shade! You need plenty of weight!Amazon sell cast steel weights made in the UK, but won’t ship these abroad. Buy these if you are in the UK, as this is the cheapest and most effective way to weight it down. You need 100Kg to weight it down (not in the instructions). I was surprised to find that at our local Leroy Merlin store in Spain, they sold the same sun shade and also sold the proper concrete weights to match the sun shade: see photo image (I’d still recommend going through Amazon as there is more choice and fast delivery: 4 days to Spain!) Four 25Kg concrete weights cost as much as the sun shade! I opted to buy two and in addition use some concrete kerb offcuts that we’re lying around. Still, it has to be done if you don’t want the sun shade to be uprooted by a light breeze. However, the next issue is that any breeze will cause the sun shade to act like a weather cock, causing the support arm to swivel. There is a crude lock mechanism on the post which will prevent the arm from rotating too far and then collapse. But, a gust of wind will cause the arm to move like a boat at anchor! My solution to this is to use a small dogs collar, (see photo) and attach it to the top shade support (where the tensioning chord exits) Use the D ring on the collar to attach to a lanyard with clip at both ends. Find somewhere secure to attach a sturdy eyelet, or two. Voila! The sun shade is now secure even in gusty conditions! I’m surprised that the manufacturer does not give the option of a lanyard to secure the shade. Anyhow, for an additional 4€ (I already had the dogs collar), I’ve now got an excellent set up! Come on Sun, I’ve got you covered!

I have read some of the negative reviews for this Parasol, many complaining that it won't stay-upright in a wind. These individuals obviously didn't study Physics. Others have complained about the build quality. Firstly, I have to say to for the price, I think this is really excellent. To ensure this remains upright when fully opened and doesn't topple over, you have to stack at least four, heavy, paving slabs on the square section stand. In addition to this, we have added large potted plants on top of the rear slabs to provide even more more weight to counter-balance the parasol, especially in a breeze. It works exceedingly well, and I would recommend this approach to anyone else considering this parasol.Build quality. This is £79 and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was made at this price - I have to admit, I was expecting something far less robust. Yes some of the fittings are plastic, but mainly it is a metal construction. Some complain that it is difficult to slide the fixings up and down. Try applying some ordinary furniture polish on the upright and polish off. You may find that this helps it when lifting and dropping the main parasol. Finally of course, one only knows how good it will be after some use. It is new, so I'll update after I've used it for six months.

These guys obviously needed to state that their product was bigger to gain attention...This is just your standard 3m diameter cantilever parasol.Product arrived in good time, was easy to assemble on my own but required extra purchase of large diameter zinc washers (x4) and fitting bolts as most of the bolts and washers were lost in transit due to poor packaging and holes in package box - these were quickly replaced by the seller upon notification though they were not quite fit for purpose as the small washer size was not providing much strenth and support considering the load placed upon them. Please also consider before purchase that you will need a waterproof cover, four bags of sand and weight bags with four high density building blocks to acheive the minimum safe weight load to stabalise the base arms without wind present.Despite what appears to be a negaitve review, I am happy with the product after the minor parts upgrades and weighting the product down sufficiently.

We are really pleased with this parasol, which fits nicely into our garden, and has been a boon in our recent unusually sunny weather. However, and it is probably our own stupidity, we hadnt realised it is really designed for being built into a slabbed patio, with slabs ON TOP of the base, or it just falls over. We want ours on gravel, so it is currently supported by bags of sand, but this doesnt look that great! I think something in the description to warn about this may well have stopped my buying it, as it isnt really that suitable for our kind of uneven surface, and as we dont want to slab that area of our garden we are going to have to think of an alternative fixing method,to replace the half a dozen bags of heavy builders sand.

Great cantilevered parasol! Don’t listen to people who moan about it toppling over! Seriously? It needs base weights, that is obvious! Instead of buying expensive purpose made weights, simply go to your nearest garden centre and buy 4 paving slabs (See pic) these are from B&Q, they were £6 each and are really heavy! I put the parasol up on a windy day and I was more concerned with the fabric tearing or the cover breaking than the thing toppling has over or flying away in the gusty conditions! It’s a really good parasol for the money.

We put it all together last night and it took us about 15 minutes, sadly we had to do our own DIY on the pole the parasol sits into as we had received a bent one so needed to straighten it out before we could put it all together. Looking forward to using this, it takes up alot of space in your garden due to the crank sitting at the back of the parasol so be prepared to lose a bit of space on your patio. I’ll update the post once I’ve had some use out of it

The parasol was larger than I thought it would be, it would easily shade a 6 table set. Well made but it does need fastening down well as they are susceptible to wind. Easily dismantled for storage if required and light enough for one person to handle easily. Overall I am delighted with this and with care will last a lot of years.

Great quality item, fast delivery & well packaged. Really great size when open, daily covers a large table nd comes with cover. Had loads of compliments & friends wanting to buy one. Does swing around if windy but that’s fine. Didn’t have to buy weights as I managed to wedge it under a very heavy planter. Would recommend.

Had this product for for about a year now only used it a couple of times last year. Got it out again two days ago second day one good gust of wind it blew inside out snapped some of the frame and basically destroyed it even with some guide ropes on to steady it

Bought as a gift for my sister she is absolutely thrilled gives a great amount of coverage as it is huge the only problem is finding the right weight to stabilize the brolly ended up with a sand bag in the end but she is nonetheless over the moon with it

It seems to be quite well made and big so it provides a lot of coverage if placed well. It needs large stones to hold it down or screwed to the floor. A permanent base would be better. Its a bit scary in a breeze but its easy to put up and use

Fast delivery, received emails explaining in details about delivery updates, full package received, with cover, i loved it, exactly the same seen in IKEA priced at 1200!I love the package, safe and fat, excellent!

The box is to big, there for it moves about and the end seals were broken, the box was torn in 3 places. The parasol is very heavyand can not be handled with kid gloves.there was nothing missing. NOT very happy.

It looks good but you need extra weight to make it stable even with a little wind. The main pole mechanisms to regulate its height although you can regulate it keeps moving And lower the Parasol after awhile.
