I was looking for a cheap wireless cycle computer. Most wireless ones under £50 had either bad or mixed reviews so I took a chance on this one & it has turned out to be really good. The display is very compact but at the same time gives a very clear & crisp display. I like the simple clean design & the fact that the buttons are on the side out of the way. I have used it for about 500 miles over 2 months & its proved to be very reliable. I think its important to read the instructions very clearly as they mention that the transmitter & display should be within a certain distance & angle of each other. As long as you are within this then the computer will work very well. The reason I have given it only 4 stars is because of the following 2 reasons.Reason 1: The product comes with a display & transmitter unit. In the packaging when you open it up the instructions say that the transmitters battery is not installed so that it doesnt discharge over the course of time. This is all very good. However the really silly thing is that the transmitter does come with its battery in its compartment already. What happened to me is that the battery of the transmitter after a day clonked out.I sent amazon an email asking if they are able to send me 1 battery separatly. I made it clear that as I had spent 1 hour installing the computer I didnt want to return the unit as it worked fine simply if Amazon were able to send me a new battery. In my mind I thought if Amazon say no then I will go out & buy a battery myself as it wasnt a big deal for me. The numpty working at Amazon didnt read my email & decided that the "unit is faulty" which it clearly isnt. So he/she decided to send me a replacement even though I had clearly stated that I didnt want to return the item (as I had spent a fair bit of time & effort installing it). The numpty decided to upgrade the postage on the replacement item to first class so even though I checked my email about 4 hours after his/her response I wasnt able to cancel it. This really annoyed me cause it wasted a lot of my time having to return the item/go post office etc. I would have been quite happy to buy a battery myself since my email asked if it was possible to get a replacement battery only. Incidently even the replacement items transmitter battery was already installed.Reason 2: The instructions are ok but could be better. The item comes with a small booklet whereas I think a poster would have been better so you can access all instructions on 1 page & slightly bigger diagrams. To summarise the product is excellent & works very well for what it is designed to do. Typical German company!!!

Got this as my first computer for a bike as I'm used to having useful data at my fingertips in the car. I went for this model as the wired connection is a lot cheaper than wireless, and the latest models can upload to a PC (note that this requires a cradle and software available seperatly for ~ 30).Installation was straightforward when following the supplied instructions. It's important to get the sensor matching the wheel magnet and close by (under 5mm). For my bike that meant mounting lower than expected. All it's doing is getting a pulse when the wheel passes, so it doesn't matter that it's halfway down the fork. It was a little confusing selecting my wheel size, but once figured out no problem and won't need doing again. It seems to work well, starting when I move off and stopping when I stop. The buttons are a little tricky when on the move, but all cycle computers would have the same issues. Removing it from the bike is no problem, and it's light weight.A couple of points that lose that 5th star for me: No details on the upload to PC (read the Sigma website to find out it's more hardware and software); It's always on, when I expected to be able to turn it off, although it does just show the time. The battery is suposed to last 2 years.

I received the Sigma BC 1009 cycle computer for my birthday after adding it to my Amazon wish list.I was after a reasonably priced device that would offer all the basic functions I required. This was mainly speed, distance and some averages. The BC 1009 fits my requirements perfectly. It was easy to install. Although it was supplied with rubber o-rings I opted for using slim black cable ties to secure the sensor and the mount. Both the sensor and the mount are designed to take cable ties so the installation was easy and looks nice and tidy. The device is well made and the screen size is perfect. I think it is very good value for money and regardless of how much you spend you aren't going to getanything that looks better. The four large buttons are easy to use which is handy if you are wearing gloves.I've also uploaded a video to YouTube showing how easy it is to configure this device. The video is called "Setup A Sigma BC 1009 Cycle Computer" and is available on my MattHawkinsUK channel. The manual is available from the main Sigma Sport website.Overall this device looks good, is good value for money and does exactly what I expect from a cycle computer. If I need any fancy data I will just use my phone, GPS and Google Tracks!

I have been using this cycle computer for a number of weeks and I am very pleased with it. The display has large clear numbers which are easy to read without resorting to my reading glasses, (the most important criteria in my search for a cycle computer). It records and displays all the time, speed and distance information I am interested in and is very responsive to changes in speed. The display unit can be easy removed and refitted via a quick click mechanism, which is very usefull when leaving a bike around town.Fitting and setting up are quite simple and to suppliment the paper instructions there is a usefull installation video on the manufacturers website. Both the transmitter unit on the front fork and the computer mount on the handlebars are fixed using rubber bands. Longer term it would make sense to replace these with cable ties. The manufacturer quotes battery life as approx 1 year based upon 1 hours cycling per day, which seems quite reasonable. The product requires two button cell batteries.I would thoroughly recommend this product to anyone wanting a simple, reliable, wireless cycle computer.

I have been very pleased with this cycle computer. Having own several (fairly cheap ones) this has been the best experience I have had for this sort of price. The large text size for the current speed makes it easy to read and the design choice of putting the buttons on the top and bottom of the device is in my opinion a good one. It's also relatively durable. Although the screen seems to scratch fairly easily. It's survived been dropped several times and left out in the rain for extended periods of time. Being small and light weight it's not a problem removing it and taking it with you when you leave the bike. The mount is adequate. I do like the twist and lock mechanism but it could feel a bit more secure.Saying that it has never fallen off. After several months ware, the back of the mount has come loose from the attachment holding it to the bike. This could easily be glued if the thread on the screws won't hold but it's the reason this product gets 4 stars instead of 5.Overall it's excellent for the price although the quality of the mount is questionable.

There are cheaper cycle computers around but this one seems fairly well made and is certainly good value for the price. There are clear instructions in English as well as the usual strange diagrammatic ones and I had no problems fitting it. I would recommend getting some cable ties rather than the supplied 'O' rings for attaching the computer itself and the sensor unit. You can also use them to make a tidy job of securing the cable. I had to fit the sensor quite a long way down the fork to get within the required 5 mm gap between it and the bit that goes on the spoke but I cannot see any problem with that. Unless you have strong young hands some radio pliers or something similar will be useful for fitting the bit that goes on the spokes.Setting up and operating the device is initially a bit confusing, but no more so than with any other small electronic device like this. I have only used it once so far but it seems to work perfectly and went up to almost 20 mph quite happily.

This is the third Sigma bike computer I've bought, it's quite a bit cheaper than the others with fewer functions available, but ideal for my purposes - it's for my second bike. All I want when out and about is distance travelled and speed etc. This little beauty does all these and more, and is very easy to set up - mind you I'm used to the rather cookie manuals by now, so if this is your first purchase of a Sigma computer, you may find it a wee bit tricky to start with, but do persevere as it's very intuitive to use once set up. Assuming your tyre circumference is listed, it's a 10 minute job to attach and you're away - if your tyre isn't listed, you'll have to get the trusty inch tape out to accurately calibrate it so you will have true readings when on the road. Have some cable ties available when fitting to secure and tidy the wire between the sensor and the display. In short a great little computer at an excellent price - happy to recommend.

I looked at many bike computers and eventually chose this one. After reading hundreds of reviews for many different computers I felt this was the best scored one and did everything I needed. I advise buyers not to get too hung on functions such as temp, wind speed etc I think if u want everything then you need to spend serious pound to get a good one. This one does the basics very well and looks great. A proffesional design and very clear display makes it look amazing on my racer. It comes off the cradel very easily aswell. Very easy to install with no tools. Uses bands which I was aprehensive about at first, but havent budged since I fitted it.PROS - looks great, competitive price, does what i needt it to, easy to installCONS - noneWould recommend this product, hasnt let me down yet after my 6th ride. Dont be fooled by much cheaper ones, these seem to give bad readings of 70mph on stationary roads, £15 - £20 and a quality name is needed.

Follow the instructions and both the installation and operation are simple. The large and clear characters make the display easy to read in any daylight condition. The mounting bracket for the sensor is designed to fit a curved section fork leg. The back of my forks are flat so I padded the bracket out with some soft silicone cut from an old phone case. I mounted the sensor quite high up on the forks and have had no problem with signal detection and the automatic stop/start feature. This is reassuring as I've read reviews of other makes that indicate they have problems unless the sensor is mounted towards the hub. Its' been out in the rain and sub-zero (just) temperatures without any problems. The setting up was straightforward and so is the re-setting for a new trip. Well pleased.

During the few weeks I have had this, I have been very pleased with it. I found it relatively straightforward to fit, and it worked right away (unusual for me!). Set to maximum contrast "1" the data shows up very well indeed, and is easy to see with just a glance.I did get in a bit of a muddle initially, sorting out what the various set/reset/mode buttons did, and more clarification in the instructions would have been good. As with many other devices a multiplicity of languages are weaved together, which certainly did not help.Overall, though, a splendid and clever little device, once you get the hang of which button accesses which set of statistics.

This was easy to fit, the magnet works at quite a distance. The battery has to be inserted so it starts off fresh, a good idea. It is surprisingly difficult to measure the circumferance of a tyre so I used the extensive table provided and entered it OK. The instructions could be clearer, they are mainly diagrams so the language isn't a problem, but it helped having set one up before, so I knew what to expect. The display is easy to read on the move in daylight. My only complaint is that there are no indications which buttons do what. It was trial and error on the road, then go back home and read the instructions again and try to remember for next time.

Had this for almost a year now, in fact just changed the battery. It tells you when it's low.By the way it does not lose your settings when you change the battery either :-) But you do have to reset the clock. Its one of those things that if it's working right you just don't notice it.Anyway this little gem does everything i ask, i did not want cadence, blood pressure, inside leg measurement etc, i wanted an accurate speedo, a clock, an ODO, a trip and time reading and an overall time reading, this does all that.If you want a simple good looking quality cycle computer buy this!

30.12.2013

Time will tell about the reliability but so far I am very satisfied. The manual explaining the set up could have better but after viewing the instructions on you tube all was clear. The unit is not designed for a mountain bike where the gap between the sender and received exceeds 5mm. I was able to adapt a bracket from a cycle D lock to support the receiver and get the right gap. The sender is designed for narrower spokes so is not clamped securely but I still get a read out. Easy to get read and to reset the values.

Previously brought a wireless computer but sent it back straight away as it kept showing me 70mph stood still. Paid a little bit extra for this and have been very pleased with it. Easy to install and have used my own cable ties just to make it a bit more secure. Watched the videos on how to install and operate it as the instruction manual can be a bit confusing. Makes cycling more enjoyable as now you how something to aim for whether its distance or trying to keep the average speed up. Wish I had brought one sooner.

Excellent cycle computer for the price, my only problem was with the wheel sensor.I have a Giant mountain bike with front suspension, fitting the sensor to the forks was a problem. As there was to big a gap between the wheel and the fork. So the computer could not pick up sensor readings. You can buy an adaptor to shorten the gap between sensor and wheel, but in my case the gap was still not close enough(should be 5mm). So had to be creative! Other than that sensor works well, and is easily removable.
