Ordered on a Monday, arrived on Wednesday, on the water on Saturday in testing estuary conditions. This is an easy to use, robust yet light weight reel. I'm a beginner to fly fishing after taking lessons on holiday in the Highlands and this reel works. It's simple. I'm a very experienced fisherman in other types of fishing and the best suited equipment in my view just does it's job and you hardly notice it's there; you just set it up properly, operate it and it doesn't need special attention. This product is in the category. The spool change couldn't be easier, so I can expand my interest in this sport experimenting with different lines etc with ease. The clutch works well and is easy to operate,

Great reel and spare spool at a great price. My only issue initially was that absolutely no paperwork ie instructions, blow up parts diagram, spare parts list etc was included in supply box. I contacted Shakespaere re this and learned that such papers are not currently included but was offered an electronic version if required. This contact was very helpful re item. This issue (now fully resolved in my mind) does not detract from the quality of the reel and spool.

I recently purchased a 9" WF8 rod, i needed a new reel to go with it to make it compatible, with a new W8 line the whole combination together is marvellous, as i do a lot of lake fishing the casting is perfect.

Very nice reel for the price , with the added bonus of a spare spool and case, very impressed, with its smooth action, and weight, handled afirst 3lb trout very easily, as I said nice reel for the price

Good value however there were no instructions on how to change from right to left hand. I achieved left hand retrieve by winding on the line and backing to fit my setup.

Does what it says on the tin. For fly fishing you don't need an expensive reel - it only holds the lineMatched with a WT# 7/8 rod it balances very well

Nice and light with a good clutch system, no click as you wind in....smooth instead! Good value from Shakespeare!
