Tried a few saddles now and this one has been the most comfortable. It is difficult to review a saddle for comfort as there is so much variation between individuals with regard to riding style, sit bone measurements etc. but I'll try to put something useful here. Build quality is very good as should be expexted from a major brand. Design and look are also nice. I am training for triathlons and have my road bike adjusted with clip on aero bars. I wanted something that is comfortable in both aero position and normal road riding and this works for me. My sit bones are approx 130mm, this saddle is 140mm. I get no pain in the soft tissue of my butt anymore, although it lost a star as I still get some numbness in the privates.I can manage this though as long as not in pain, just get out of the saddle everynow and then to get the blood flowing. The channel in the middle allows more comfort when in aero and the dipped nose allows you to slide back into the saddle easily when sitting back down. Padding is adequate, quite soft compared with my Scott Syncros road saddle. Overall a nice saddle but will very much depend on your sit bone width. Work that out first... youtube has some ideas on that.

After using the standard saddle that came with my new Scott Sportster for two years, I found that after about 10k in the saddle I was experiencing extreme discomfort down below. The last 8k of my cycle home was awful as the numbness I was getting was almost unbearable. Loads if people recommended different saddles, with many suggesting one with a cut away mid section. I found the Selle SMP on www.road.cc and it had a good review so I bought one. Well, what a difference! On the same journey I have absolutely no discomfort whatsoever, no numbness or anything. I was hoping for a reduction in the numbness but I just don't get anything at at all, which is beyond what I expected. Absolutely brilliant.I am enjoying my bike even more now because I am totally comfortable in the saddle and therefore I have nothing to distract me. I wish I had bought one of these sooner than I did. I have a second bike, a road bike and I have ordered another Selle SMP Extra to go on that too.

Bicycle saddles are a very personal thing. One person might like a saddle while another hates the same one. We are all built differently. I cycle for about an hour a couple of times a week and what was holding me back from cycling further and longer was the pain in the groin from my old saddle. I decided to give this one a go after reading lots of reviews of different saddles and visiting a few cycle shops. This one is certainly more comfortable and I do not suffer from numb nuts any more. Although, the padding on the rails where the pressure points are could do with thicker padding. In my opinion, it is too soft and not enough. Apart from that, the rails flex pretty well giving relatively good suspension to your butt. The hook nose allows for easy mounting and dismounting without grabbing at your shorts or tights. A well designed saddle with minor flaws. But that's just my opinion.

I have been using this saddle on one of my road bikes for the last 2+years and have found it to be very acceptable. It is a myth to believe that you need a "soft" saddle to be comfortable on a bike and in particular a road bike, why is this you may ask? Simply put you hip bones need support and on a soft saddle although at first initially comfortable as your sit bones adjust and slip further into the saddle it tends not to be as comfortable. In this respect a hard saddle (with a possible cutaway for perennial saddle relief) is the perfect solution for a road bike...however having said all that the selle smp extra is a great inexpensive saddle which is more than adequate for medium rides.

It took a long time of buying and returning before this rocked up with all the goods.I've tried the lot- combed forums etc etc. this is narrow, cushioned yet accommodating for your lady bits. More volume is not better. Perfect for a an aggressive riding position. No need for padded cycle shorts. jeans, commute, happy.yes- its not leather and hand stitched.. ( I wanted that too) but franky I'd rather ride comfy and not feel like I need to reach for the cranberry.. If you know what I mean....

Pretty comfortable saddle, tried the SMP Well but didnt have the amount padding that the Extra has, thus nowhere near as comfortable. Have tried Bontrager, Fizik, Charge Spoon plus a few others and this is by far the best yet. You will have to lower your seat by about 20mm allowing for the padding and take a 5mm Allen key out on the first rides to adjust angle, nose down slightly etc till you find the best position. Recommend, give it a go.

I bought it for my Brompton in the wake of an operation. I have spent most of the last half-century on a B17. The SMP has similar dimensions but feels very different. After a few days of use, i have realised that I will be happy to live with it: much better for my anatomy than the B17s that I have been using for the past half century. Before you commit, try one or check your sit-bone spacing using aluminum foil and a carpeted stair!

I'm giving this 4 stars, nothing is quite perfect. Recent undercarriage issues have led to me trialling a number of different saddles and this one is as good a one as I've tried. I can get 2 hours on the bike with this saddle, that's not really enough but it's about 1 hour 50 minutes more than a 'standard' saddle. If the hole in the middle were a little wider I might have given it 5 stars.

It has taken me over 40 years cycling to find a really comfortable saddle. These may look weird but my butt muscles and bones sit on these saddles comfortably and relaxed. The nose does not get in the way of your bits and pieces and I find I can be far more relaxed about longer rides.May not suit some but it fits my butt. Good price also for black or white. Red is into silly prices.

I was looking for a more comfortable saddle as with my previous one I had trouble on rides longer than 1h 30'This one is so far doing a great job, it's inexpensive enough to be cycling and locking the bike around the city, but also good enough for 2 hour rides or longer. Good buy

I did a lot of research on saddles as I had a bad back caused (I suspected) from my 'flat' saddle previous to changing over to SMP. The 'dished' area has helped me stay in the correct position and sorted my back pain whilst riding. Great.

Just bought a 2nd one for my new Trek SL5, best saddle, so comfortable, can move between bikes in with no comfort issues, the original Bontrager race saddle wasn't nice to sit on, theses Selle SMP Extra's are the future !

I decided on a prostate friendly saddle and had tried a slightly wider one but couldn’t quite get the c9mfort I wanted. It’s important to get the right measurements and once I did, my sit bones are happy with this saddle.
