I thought the everlasting self-inflating mats never stopped, all of them lost air more or less quickly ... but then I bought a summer mat from Sea to Summit and got to know these types of valves. That was the reason to buy this big winter mat. The inflation is relieved because they are check valves (this mat has 2 valves). Then you can fine-tune the amount of air of the mat and that while you lie on it. So you can not only adjust the hardness of the mat perfectly, you can also change it at any time, without first having to get up. The valve has 2 covers. The outer lid of the valve should be opened with a little tact, so you do not open both lids. Because then the air escapes very quickly and that in turn is great for merging.
