***Update***Been using this for a few months now and it's still proving to be well worth the cost.***Original Review***I've been through four different hands free leads recently due to damaging my knee. Walking the dog with a normal lead wasn't possible so after a little research I decided to give these a go. The shock absorber on one snapped, the belt clip on the second snapped open and the third may as well of not bothered with the shock absorber. It also tightened the belt if the dog pulled the wrong way...I've used ruffwear before and generally they are high quality but the last one I bought did snap so I didn't try this one first. However after three failures I gave it a go and it makes a massive difference.Totally worth the extra money. It's not perfect but there are few elements where you can see the thought that has gone in to it.

This is my second Roamer Ruffwear Leash. The first one lasted about a year before the elastic got somewhat stretched out. It is still usable, but I wanted to order a new one. This time, I got the shorter leash, and while I still love it, I think I prefer the longer one. I mostly use this leash on hikes, to let my dog sniff a little further off the trail than I would like to walk. This one is a little short for that, but it is still great for use in the city. I think these leashes are very convenient, and I love being able to walk my dog without holding on to her leash. Feels more like we are walking together rather than I am walking her.

I bought this lead along with the ruffwear harness 14 years ago for each of my dogs. These have been brilliant leads. I bought the longest in this range even though i only have small dogs. I dont have them running off the lead so the length coupled with the expansion gave them freedom. When i didnt want them to have that freedom, like any other lead, i pulled it in on my hand. The new version i see has a place for poop bags, that was never a problem as you can clip them on anyway on the loop on the handle. I have never used around my waist just as a has handle. Ive now had another dog so will be buying another and the ruffwear harness.

This is my first Amazon review and I'm writing this because I love this leash. My first Ruffwear leash lasted almost 10 years and I run long distances several times a week with my dogs. It frees up my hands, is rugged, gives us just enough length so I don't trip on him but he can hit his own stride and I can too. Every week in the summer my dog takes a dip in the pond halfway thru our run which has never affected the leash at all. The last one made it through two dogs running years and finally, the bungee began to stretch out. The new one looks and feels as rugged as the first. Thanks for a great product.

We love Ruffwear products and specifically this leash. We use it in both the hand held (like normal leashes) and around the waist. Around the waste means you are walking your dog hands free! Great quality product that does not fray. The clip to the harness is very durable and seems like it will last. We like this product so much we also bought on in a different size. Goes great with Ruffwear harnesses. Once you use a Ruffwear harness you will see neck collars as unnecessarily choking your dog, which is not cool at all.

I loved that I could clip it around the waist which allowed some stretch before the leash was fully taught... When walking, this leash gave my golden retriever a bit of warning before he was pulling me at full stretch of the leash. He's trained to walk next to me. Over time the stretchy webbing weakened, mostly from using the clip-belt around stationary objects to keep him leashed up if I walked away. He knew it was his leash.. I'm looking now to replace the plastic buckle after a purchase via Amazon 7 months ago.

I ordered this leash because I had a knee injury recently and wanted to have kind of a "buffer" that helps me with my sometimes pulling dog. Also, it is great that I can put the leash around my hip so I can lean against the pulling with my body and can spare my knee.Size L is quite long which is great when you do longer walks or hikes. I also bought size M that is great for city walks or walks where you want to have your dog a little bit closer.

I have bought other Ruffwear products and have found them of good quality for my very strong labradoodle puppy. The lead is strong and the definitely helps when walking my puppy who wants to run after everything that moves. I would definitely recommend Ruffwear for its quality and although it might be a little more expensive than other similar products, I feel its worth it and the delievry was quick too.

Not sure at first about length as may have preferred shorter lead, but having gone out a couple of times now and had the lead around my waist, just love it ? I can be hands free at times, playing with pup whilst keeping her safe but allowing her freedom. On occasions she can lunge to get to sniffs and at least now I’m not getting the sharp pull that can hurt and most importantly neither is she ??

I bought this leash years ago and loved it. For some dogs that pull, a bungie leash can really help save your shoulder. My old one unfortunately was shredded by another dog, so I got this new one as a replacement. The actual bungie part is not as long as the original one I bought. I'm a little bummed about that. But, it still serves me well, so I'm still happy with it.

At this point in her life my husky isn't nearly as much of a puller as she used to be. But I still will always go with a "bungee" style leash. Every now and then her breed instincts will kick in and she'll start pulling. This leash has a really comfortable loop to hold on to and it hooks up securely and perfectly to the harness I have. Glad I went with this one.

I like this leash a lot. I'm using it on a small puppy (13lbs) and it works well and I can see it absorb the initial shock from a bigger dog.If not using it as a waist leash it is long and will drag on the ground but easily solved buly grabbing up the slack!I would buy it again but the shorter leash because I don't use it as a wearable as much

I use these leashes for a 22 lb dog and a 45lb dog and I love it. The bungee gives them a little extra roaming room and the tension as the bungee stretches tends to give my dogs the “move along” alert. We did try with a 95lb dog and it did not hold up. Would NOT recommend if your dog is a powerful puller - the elasticity will not hold.

I love ruff wear!! And highly suggest this leash to every dog parent i know!! *I attach the hand grip around my waist, to stabilize myself against pulling* We use this with the body harness! I have a 100lb, 60lb, and 35lb, pups, works great for all! It took over a year for my larger dog to wear hers out. Love this brand!

I love this leash for runs with my puppy! Only thing is when you wear the leash around your waist it snags nice running tops! :(Still does not deter me from using tho. She loves running in front and when she fully extends the bungee helps absorb the shock of the yanking leash. So awesome!
