I've used only aluminum and steel handlebars. I have no idea how carbon fiber handlebars are like. But I can tell you that Ritchey provides a nice selection and great variety. I've used ergonomic, classic, and compact handlebars now. Classic and ergonomic feels the same to me. I don't see how this handlebar is any different than other ergonomic bars but it fits my bike well, it was delivered on time, product was in excellent condition. Would consider buying again if I get hit by a car again that resulted in bending my old handlebar...

I recently purchased a Raleigh Rush Hour Fixie, which came equipped with some fairly severe track drop bars. The curves and brake position on those bars forced me into new and uncomfortable positions that I'm sure are appropriate for the track, but not for long road rides that I do on my Fixies.These Ritchey road bars are light, stiff and provide me with the more comfortable positions I was after.
