I have just received my new POC Formix Backcountry MIPS Helmet, in the 59-62 size, and thankfully it fits very well, and is comfortable. I have a large head and normally find that Large GIRO helmets fit me well, but so far GIRO have not produced a MIPS Snow helmet. I would have preferred to get the Receptor Backcountry MIPS, as I prefer the style, but for some reason POC only make a 59-60 helmet, which would not fit.The quality of the helmet appears to be high, with a well though out ventilation system and goggle clip. The colour is a close match for the pictures shown. The interior pads are of medium thickness and Velcro directly onto the MIPS layer. The interior pads,ear pieces and neck roll can be removed for cleaning, and for spring conditions when it is relatively warm. I have tried the helmet with Oakley Canopy and Flightdeck goggles and the fit is seamless, with no 'gapper' gaps.Whenever I buy a new helmet, I try wearing it for a couple of hours indoors, to confirm the fit, as pressure points will not appear immediately. It is easy to get carried way with looks or brands, and forget the main purpose of a helmet is to save your life. I helmet that does not fit is a fashion item, and will give a false sense of security. I really wanted a Sweet Protection helmet, but they seems to come up small in terms of size, so a 61cm was not even close to fitting.My helmet was labelled as made in 2013 (made in China, rather than Sweden), which probably reflects the low price, but it is brand new, and I am not aware of any changes in the last model year. Although I have Amazon Prime, my helmet took 5 days to arrive, as it appears to have been shipped from Italy.

By reputation POC is considered to be one of the best & safest ski helmets you may buy. This one has the additional safety feature of MIPS which may reduce the impact on you brain in a glancing hard 'hit'; I hope I never have to test that feature to its limit!What I can say is that I have been wearing Helmets in motorsport and then skiing for 50 years. The FORNIX Standard & Backcountry MIPS models are one of the very best fitting helmets I have ever worn. The immediate feel and fit to the shape of the head is excellent and technically very good if you know what to focus your judgement on. When the helmet is sitting correctly on the head, there is good protection deep down on to the forehead which is very vulnerable.The rear mounted size adjuster works in very small increments to get exactly your correct fit. All these features allows you to have a very safe, perfectly fitting but comfortable helmet capable of being worn for several hours at a time without discomfort, just as you need in motorsport. The removable Velcro fastened head pads inside the helmet give just the right amount of support, comfort and are very easy to remove/reinstall for washing. Vent system easy to operate when being worn and with gloves on. Ear covers and chin strap allows tightening in the right place to ensure a good very snug fit to the head to prevent the head moving around in the helmet, thus ensuring maximum security on impact. High standard of manufacture quality for the price and use. Buy with confidence. POC goggles fit with it perfectly in shape and size when appropriate to the helmet size.

GreatI was searching for replacement to my Carrera Lance Air. POC Fornix MIPS has additional "layer" of safety with its MIPS system. Fits nicely, very comfortable and lightweight. Inside is nicely cushioned, adjustment system is OK, backside covers your neck, chin strap is soft and nice.The only downside I have found in 4-5 ski days is that the outer shell is really soft and easily bends and scratches - even my goggles pressing on it left a dent into the outer shell.Other than that - helmets looks amazing in this colorway and the venting system is superb and really works well to coll you sown.

My head is 56 and is borderline M and L. This feels very tight especially as I like to wear a very thin beanie on my head before putting on the helmet. So I had to remove the padding velcro on the forehead to relieve the stress there. Either that or get the next size up. Otherwise it looks sharp.

Great helmet. XL-XXLfitted very well despite problems getting previous helmets to fit. Blue colour was cheaper but still looks good (everyone has black so it stands out better on the slopes)

The Helmet looks good, is slightly tight for an XL helmet. I can't really talk about performance, as I bought it at the end of the season.

Good snug fit for larger heads, lightweight helmet that doesn't induce wind noise. Good vents for heat control.
