It was an obvious choice to try this product, with this pricing and eco-credentials.Have faithfully used v5s for a number of years and found them consistently reliable down to the last drop of ink and then yes, increasing guilt at chucking out the empty containers. This pen has a different feel in the hand, the barrel is somewhat chunkier, the grip completely changes and one writes differently too.I don't know whether this is a matter of time and adjustment or whether the ergonomics are just a little off, it may come to personal preference, but there is a completely different experience of holding the pen and writing. Slightly more cumbersome.Hence 4 stars out of 5.I am open to working with this because of the benefits if I get can this product to work for me (financial saving and less landfill). The pen writes with the same fluidity and ink flow, I'm going to stick with it, these kind of solutions have to be encouraged. To change the cartridge, which isn't apparent from packaging instructions:1 Remove cap2 hold pen with nib pointing downwards and transparent top section in one hand, barrel in the other3 Give a short twist to separate sections and then unscrew4 You will see the cartridge which can be easily removed and replacedThis may be stating the obvious for some, but it took me a short while to figure it out lol

The trusty V5 is a stern winner! The price on this pen varies constantly and I have seen it in stores for around £4! This pen is worth it in everyway as it flows lovely and has a nice thick, smooth (non rubber) grip that is nice to writer with and doesn't give you cramp or discomfort if writing for long periods of time.I must say however I am unsure if it is my writing style but I can sometime feel it gets a bit scratchy I am not sure if its because I have used this pen near enough everyday for a few months but when I first got this it was a joy to write with. what I would say however is that the extra inks are a bonus as this pen can get through ink at an average rate but you can also feel it get more scratchy as the ink tube gets low.Overall a brilliant pen for a rather brilliant price, there should be no second thoughts for a cheap, stylish good write.

I have been a fan of Pilot V5 for many many years.I have been using this one for a few months and I am not disappointed at all.I agree with other reviews that the pen feel a bit different in your hand as it is slightly bulkier, however this does not detract the pleasure of writing with it.The tip looks the same as before but, perhaps as you would expect, after changing a few cartridges (3 or 4) it looses a bit in sharpness and the end result is somehow similar to what a V7 would procureThe one thing that I would strongly recommend Pilot to change/improve is the plastic handle in the cap, I inadvertently manage to snap it....it would not had happened with the metal one the classic V5 is providedwith. All in all not enough to deprive it from 5 stars

I proofread for a living* and used to get through half a dozen of the standard version of this pen every year - and they're not cheap. Thought I'd give the refillable ones a go and I've not been disappointed so far. The pen itself feels slightly thicker than the non-refillable version, but not unduly so. I had some trouble at first pulling the pen apart to fit the cartridge but soon discovered it just needs a sharp twist. So far, so good!*Please don't pick me up on any typos in my Amazon reviews ... I tend to write them on my ipad and am often the victim of AutoCorrect!

I have both the non-refillable and this "eco" version of the Pilot V5, and both are very nice. I would say I think flows slightly better from the disposable, but the this version seems to produce a slightly finer line. The refillable pen, not surprisingly, feels a bit sturdier and a bit less plasticy than the disposable. At the price I paid through a seller here, it was a bit of a no-brainer and I'm very happy with the pen. As disposables cost around £2 (unless you buy in big bulk), you can save a lot if you get through a lot of these.

I like this rollerball pen as it writes very smoothly and finely, as if using a good fountain pen, but is much more convenient than the latter. It comes with refill cartridges, which is useful. It does, however, seem a bit mad that it then costs more to buy additional cartridges separately than to buy a whole new pen plus the same amount of cartridges. Something is not right with that, economically and environmentally! However, the price is good for the original set of pen and refills.

I was looking for a replacement for my Pilot rollerball. Not replace the pen but buy another of the same. I have been using these pens for years, and for general non fountain pen functions they are the best discovery, they do not blot or go dry on the tip, they have never in years disappointed me. But they became a challenge to find in my stationery stores amongst all the competition. Now from here no problem Thankyou RDR

I really enjoy writing with this pen. Only complaint I have is that replacing the ink is a little annoying a d requires some care (to avoid spills and hence a mess). Would be nice if each cartridge was replaced in a similar way that the pilot frixion pens work, so the pen tip and ink store are one. This would definitely reduce the potential for making a mess. Otherwise a very good product worth buying.

This is an excellent pen. It writes smoothly and the ink cartridges do last for a while. I agree with others that the cartridges do run out quicker than the previous model but it still works out more economical so I'm no complaining. It is a bit fatter than the previous model of this pen but it doesn't take much getting used to.I'm so impressed with this pen that I've bought 2 v5 pens and 2 v7 pens!!

My favourite pens by far, I'm sure everyone has their own favourite but this is easily mine, so much so I have 3 different coloured versions. As a teacher I write extensively daily and the refill option is very much appreciated, I go through about one refill every 3 weeks, which is longer than most other pens I've used last.Writes very smoothly, ink flows well and comfortable to hold.

I used to write with the V7 0.7mm, but I prefer a finer point and got the V5 0.5mm because I have more space between letters and my writing looks better.I don't do a lot of writing because I'm doing computer science, but on average 1 cartridge can last up to 6 months more or less. I used this for my exams and it's so easy to write with it that I would present my exams as art :)

I bought this because I used tons of Pilot V5 in the past years and when I discovered that there were the charges I wanted to go for them in order to reduce wasting resources, let's call it a green choice. The only thing that annoys me a little bit is that this rechargable pen is a little bit larer than the normal V5, for the rest is work perfectly as the normal V5 always did.

24.1.2016

The Pilot V5 has been my standard writing pen for a fair while now. It is lightweight, comfortable and swift. The additional cartridges are a godsend for when the ink starts to run out as in the past that meant rummaging through the drawers for a ballpoint pen until I could get go out to purchase another, but no more. The cartridge is easy to change and doesn't make a mess.

I bought one of these pens previously and later I wanted to have a different size, that is why I got this one. It is very good to use this pen for writing but also can be use for artistic projects. And because you can refill the pen is is just fantastic and worth the money :) And also better than some other product what is on the market!

These were bought for my grandson to use mainly with his college course. He had already been using these pens and found them reliable and smooth flowing, their fine line suitable both for writing and detailed sketching of circuits etc. The fine point has meant low ink usage so the refills last a long time.
